and then they laughed at it. they enjoyed the dark comedy. what is your point? i think the entire idea of comedy goes over the heads of people like you. the marathon joke is supposed to put off the audience and then bring them back. that joke was designed for everyone but you.
The joke about the legs is how ppl will laugh about a person with no legs until you make it descriptive and talk about someone in particular - then it’s not okay. And he actually makes a good point
Its also about a matter of taste, my friend. ;-) Some like it, some don't, pretty simple. You are not supposed to like every joke that exists. Just like with music. You people think too much about this and take it too seriously.
they did like the joke. the joke did exactly what it was designed to do. make the audience uncomfortable and then tell them why they shouldn't feel uncomfortable laughing at it.
As someone who went from 2 legs to 1 last year, I am real sensitive about it. I sometimes have a hard time talking about it because dealing with it leaves me totally stumped for words. But there's no hopping around it and it must be dealt with. Some day I hope to get a leg up on life again, but for now I am just feeling like I have one foot in the grave.
You just gotta hit the ground hopping to get a leg up on the difficulties you may have in your future. It's going to feel like you're taking two hops forward and one hop back, but keep on persevering and you'll get right back on your foot.
14:28 That was from an old TV show called "Quantum leap", where after a failed experiment, the main character jumps through time into different people's bodies to fix some issues in there life, hoping to get back home. That's why he sees a different person in the mirror every episode.

The audience was just as Hypocritical and these dudes homie went "i don't fuck with that" then continued to laugh about the same joke for 10 minutes (not to mention every other offensive joke)
I got that feeling too from the first part like they didn't understand most of the jokes. They would comment and laugh about the wrong parts of the jokes and missed the punchline
Ya'll got me with the Quantum leap episode, Scott Bacula is jumping from world to world. Sometimes he's a woman. Any person in history. And ya'll cracked me up! That was funny as hell!!! Love it!
He wasn't jumping from world to world, he was stuck in the past in a time travel accident and every episode he leaps into a new year trying to get back to his timeline. Every time he leaps he's placed in a new persons body. Looks like he ended up in a retarded person that time....priceless.
The thing is, "retarded" was originally used to describe someone's intellectual development as compared to measured "normal" developmental progress. It was used because the term, used outside of the context of describing a human being, was actually a verb that simply meant "slowed down". An example would be the sentence, "The high level of humidity retarded the curing of the concrete poured for the new patio next door." At some point, it began to be applied to people to describe the progress of their intellectual development as compared to their peers. Then, of course, since it described a way in which someone was different, it began to be used as perjorative.
It's still used in English as well, for everything but mental retardation. For example, when adjusting the ignition timing on your car, you can advance or 'retard' the timing.
Fun fact about the term mentally retarded: It replaced previously used clinical terms like moron, idiot imbecile, and cretin after these terms came to be used as insults. Now that retarded is considered insulting, it's been replaced with a new clinical term, intellectually disabled.
louie understand basic minds so much..as soon as the guy said he dont rock with that..louie had a comeback..and he wasnt even there and heard him..dark comedy is def not for the masses, and im good with that..
It’s actually insane how that whole first joke flew completely over all 3 of your heads. Guy in the middle got it a bit more then you two on the sides though lol.
This is why you always let a comedian (especially Louis) finish the joke all the way, cause then he makes you look like these dudes 😂😂 the look on their faces when he calls them hypocrites is priceless.
That's what I respect the most about Louie: like Carlin, he pointed out inconsistencies and hypocrisies in language. If you haven't seen it yet, check out Louie's bit on "n word" vs "nigger." Or one I've noticed a lot recently - "person of color" vs "colored person" - literally the same words with the same meaning, yet someone? decided one phrase was bad and the other good. It is ridiculous. Do NOT allow others to control your language. It is half a step away from enslaving your mind.
Yeah man "N-word" is such a cop out. It's more acceptable to say someone is "acting like an n-word", than it is to say "don't call people nigger", and that's not cool. Like Louis said, "take responsibility for your own shitty words"
They're just jokes. You have to understand Louis says outrageous shit just to get a laugh, which is what comedy is all about. So please keep goin with this special. I'm looking forward to the next video
“And at the end you were like ohh, but not those particular legless people”. Como’n guys you can’t cherry pick. You laughed at legless joke, so laugh ‘till the end
That show is called Quantum Leap, it's set in the future, but the man they show asking that question in the mirror "leaps" back in time into other people's bodies. The goal is for him to offset negative events that effect the future. He leaps into a new body every episode. He has to figure out who's body he's in and who he was sent to save or rescue/accomplish some specific task as that person, thus fulfilling their destiny in time, before he can then "leap" into another body, in yet another time in history. There's even an episode where he plays Marilyn Monroe, he's got to wear her shoes and dresses and kiss men, etc. It was a very funny but also sometimes sad and insightful show. You are essentially placed into the perspective of these people, in their exact time in history and how different life has been from one year to the next, much less many decades in between, and it made it easier for ppl to see some of these figures as actual human beings that had real thoughts and feelings and internal conflicts, decisions to make and why they may have made them. Sam's partner Al is a hologram that sometimes shows up with statistical advice and comic relief, along with the foreshadowing of a cellphone with his handheld computer-like device that almost never worked. He's often seen shaking or even smacking it to get it to work. Lmao!! I often think of Ziggy when I'm using my phone and it's pissing me off (his handheld) What an awesome show!! It was on Netflix for a while!
its a tv show not a movie. it's called quantum leap. it's about a guy who jumps through time randomly into other peoples bodies for a short period of time to try to change historical events to make the world a better place.
Based on your reactions, I'm beginning to think your guys' idea of dark comedy is a comedian doing jokes in a dark theater. You can't say you like dark comedy if you can't even handle Louis CK's jokes...
Thhe "AmI retarded" clip is from Quantum Leap, a show in which a time hopping protagonist occupies the body of people he encounters in his interdimensional travels.
That scene u played is from the tv show quantum leap. Where he jumps into a real person from the pasts body for a few days to fix their life and whatnot. So he leaped into a special person.
It’s always funny watching noncomedians tells legit comedians how they should set their jokes up. Like the dude on the far right, who’s trying his hardest to keep a serious face, then when he starts cracking jokes when the video is paused, is the most unfunny thing but he’s cracking up like he’s cracking jokes at a Chapelle or Burr level.
That video is a scene from a TV show called Quantum Leap, the guy like bounced through time or some such and occupied different peoples' bodies like, through history. I just saw that short video the other day and was cracking up lol
Fascinating introspective look on your guys perspective on this shit, but the thing is though when you’re reacting to comedy, specifically stand-up comedy and you pause it, you take away all of the momentum which then affects the true reaction. Something I noticed
That video was from Quantum Leap, a really cool science fiction show about a scientist that inhabits the bodies of people throughout the past and changes history from the better. He to inhabit the bodies of people from all different walks of life, races and genders. There were a few episodes where he has to become Lee Harvey Oswald which was really amazing. The video you saw was from an episode when he inhabited the body of a man with down syndrome.
that clip is from a series called "Quantum Leap" in the near future, physicist Dr. Sam Beckett (Bakula) theorised that it is possible to time-travel within one's own lifetime, and obtains government support to build his project "Quantum Leap". Some years later, the government threatens to pull funding as no results have been made, and Sam decides to test the project accelerator by himself to save the project before anyone can stop him. He is thrown back in time, and on gaining consciousness, finds that while he physically exists in the past, he appears to everyone else as a person that he had "leapt" into and further has partial amnesia related to his own identity. A hologram of his friend, Admiral Al Calavicci (Stockwell), appears, visible and audible only to Sam, and helps to explain to Sam that he must correct something that went wrong in the past, aided with the resources of the project's supercomputer Ziggy (voiced by Pratt), as once that is corrected, he should be able to leap back to the present. Despite successfully correcting the past, Sam continues to leap randomly to another place and time within the second half of the 20th century, "putting things right that once went wrong and hoping each time that his next leap will be the leap home"
That clip was totally the show Quantum Leap, where every episode he leaped into a new person's body to solve a problem. It was probably an episode about him standing up for them or something. Actor is Scott Bakula
The clip you were referencing is a show called "quantum leap". Every episode he would find himself in a new persons body, in a different point in time. He never knew who or where he would be next.
The am I retarded clip is from a TV show called Quantum leap. It was about a guy who was stuck jumping through time by leaping from body to body. He kept his own mind but lived as the other person until he fixed something about their life.
I actually got 'lumped in' with the handicapped kids at school in the 70s/early 80s (turned out I was autistic). But I played the piano because talking to others could be hard, and I learned the word "ritard" because it's a musical term for the process of 'slowing down' in music (like at the end of a song). And I remember knowing that I could do everything other people could, it just 'took me longer' to figure out how to do it, according to the way that my mind worked. So the term made perfect sense and felt accurate... and it's better than 'handicapped' (which implies permanent dysfunction/non-function). Life is about learning how to work with whatever you're given--the labelling and offence-taking wastes time and energy. Retard is a valid term with no inherent slight/insult. (And often, when we DO figure out how to use our capacities, we excel in that specialisation cuz we've worked our butts off 'training' ourselves.) Everybody wins. :)
PS The clip of the guy asking "am I retarded?" is from an episode of 80's tv-sci-fi show Quantum Leap... The actor is Scott Bakula, and his character time travels and 'jumps' into people but he has to 'figure out' who he is when he lands at the beginning of each episode. Y'all's laughter at that was as funny as the Louis CK standup video--thanks for the smiles, guys. :)
I showed your reaction of "N***** on a Forklift" to a friend of mine for our podcast, and now I'm sending him THIS as well. You guys got GOT right from jump, and I LOVED it - expertly crafted performance by one of the most savvy and controversial comedians in the game.
Say what you will. Louis CK is one of the ballsiest comic out there! and he's not a bit afraid to point out people's hypocrisy. I mean when this special came out I was sure that it'll be watered down because Louis was just coming out of a controversy. But man oh man! He doubled down son! I mean how many guys you know who when accused of Sexual misconduct outright said, "Yes I'm guilty and there is not talking around it."

ABSOLUTELY LOVE YOU GUY'S!!!!! ♥️
the "am-I-retarded" clip is from a TV series called Quantum Leap in the 90's 🤣🤣
I showed your reaction of "N***** on a Forklift" to a friend of mine for our podcast, and now I'm sending him THIS as well. You guys got GOT right from jump, and I LOVED it - expertly crafted performance by one of the most savvy and controversial comedians in the game.
That was from an episode of Quantum Leap
How do you look up Shaun Cassidy on the web and land on a clip from a Quantum Leap episode??
Say what you will. Louis CK is one of the ballsiest comic out there! and he's not a bit afraid to point out people's hypocrisy. I mean when this special came out I was sure that it'll be watered down because Louis was just coming out of a controversy. But man oh man! He doubled down son! I mean how many guys you know who when accused of Sexual misconduct outright said, "Yes I'm guilty and there is not talking around it."
