I just found a really great method for if you're writing your own riffs or melodies: turn off the click, record yourself playing it naturally, the way you wrote it. then turn off warping on that recording and adjust your BPM till your recording fits correctly in the bars, then record over to get a cleaner take.

Thanks for the short, to-the-point video. :) I am currently working on a what I think is a simplistic guitar instrumental piece using my beloved Epiphone Dot Deluxe: • two nearly identical finger-picking tracks, one using the bridge pick-up, one using the middle position, one panned left, one panned right • the former playing arpeggios and small alterations to the latter • a melody part with no panning using the neck pick-up The three different sounds of the same guitar and, so far, only Logic's own chroma verb and multi-pressor make this a very nice and emotional composition. I am already proud of it. …but, Boy, did I mistake 'simplistic' for 'simple'! Playing both nearly identical rhythm tracks to a click at 58 bpm is pretty darn tricky! I have decided to leave a few minor offsets of both tracks in for the natural feel. Maybe, sometimes, this is a good idea as we play guitar and not quantised midi instruments.
