  • Athenry Station - Galway supporters discuss the players on their Team, naming their favourites. The interviewer is Rita Brady (Melia) who played Sive in the Athenry Drama Group production of John B Keane's play 'Sive' that same year. Those interviewed and on the platform include Sean Keane; Joe Kelly; Gerry Waldron; Joe Maher; Denis Kelly; Louis Murphy; Matt Tully; Paul Courtney; Brian; Joe; Michael Doherty; Paul Coffey; Gerard Sweeney; John Kilkelly; Sylvie McNamara; Brendan Loughnane, PJ Molloy's brother in law; Pat Kilkelly; Paddy Ryan; Pete Kelly; Walter Francis; Dennis Maher and Brian Clear; John Delaney; and Edel Gardiner. Then the rush for the train and the scramble for seats. And off to the match. Please tell us if we've got any of the names wrong and we'll correct them, and add others if missed out. Jack Newman of Tuam captured at 20.36 and another scene afterwards (thanks to Southern Yard for this info). Video Richard Murphy.

Captain Robert Nairac disappeared in Ravensdale May 1977. He visited Spiddal several times in the 1960s. He did pass Athenry several times en route to Galway by train 🚆. Time doth makes ghosts of us all...
