Me too. They always wash their paws and food, and the kits usually get dunked. They come up on my patio all the time, right up to the sliding door. My cats love them, except for the smallest little princess who charges the door, growling, protecting her castle. Scares the heck out us and the kits tumble ass over tea kettle in shock. I have been feeding raccoons for 20 years. All the litters, all the babies, all the adults. They are so incredible and so lovable. Why people don't respect their intelligence, and their ability to bond with people it's amazing to me. I have babies to come up to me for 4 or 5 years. They never forget. I was once fishing at night for catfish with a friend and while fishing a raccoon got into my friends car through one of the rolled down windows. My friend noticed something and went to see what was happening. A raccoon jumped out of his drivers side window with a pack of jack links beef jerky and his pack of cigarettes (for some reason) and ran into the woods on two legs. We both sat there laughing but stunned!
Gotta have a smoke after them Jack Links. Even racoons know that.
Well at least that explains some of the forest fires now I guess the wildlife are starting to take up smoking we need to do a service announcement for them so they know it's not good for them haha

Hey man I just wanted to tell you, I used to work in a cubicle farm where if you were done with (or lacking) work you were forbidden to surf. I fell into a project management position for a large concrete company and my work is 90% outside. I absolutely love it and I could never go back to an office job. There's other stuff out there. @@lukedufresne7866 Theoretically yes, a group of cats could take down a raccoon working together. But it's one of those fights where the raccoon would definitely kill or severely injure more than 1 cat in the process if he didn't win.
No one in that fight wants to go at it seriously, unless they're legit starving or rabid. Even a single cat could seriously injure one of the raccoon's limbs. So they pretty much always share and take turns, with at least a little mutual respect.
A pack of raccoons however will just eat all the food and leave none for the cats, raccoons tend to work together fairly often.

Poor thing. I've never seen one so skinny...and nursing young too. They're common enough around here that the cats don't even react any more. Once in a while an opossum will join in, side by side like an ugly cousin.

@@CJM-rg5rt The racoon is thin because she is a mother. you can see her nipples hanging down. Her kits are probably still quite young. The mother raccoons look so skinny at times depending on food available to them. Everything ahe eats goes into producing milk for her young. It is probably why she is willing to risk interacting with the cats for some relatively easy food ( sorta like a raccoon version of McD's drive through)
As for the out in light bit, same reason. When there are mouths to feed she will forage as much as is necessary.
