- This is the third in the series of our small property haying videos. Today we will show you how we sweep our hay. You do not have to have a bailer. Storing hay loose on your property is completely fine.

Man, that's a great idea. Hay and grass collectors are super expensive. This is way better for the homestead guy.

Pretty cool idea, love the old barn
I do almost the same thing. But I have a stone bucket for tractor,and just push it to pile. It works real good.It is sure faster than baling.Have a good day.
Great idea!! It ain’t easy starting a farm, but lots of satisfaction from every step.
If you buy and practice with stick welder, you can replace that wood rack with one made of steel that attached to the bucket blade, same as the forks.
And you can build endless of sturdy stuff.

I have a flux core and stick welder. Just didn't have the steel and wanted to make it out of something I had on hand. My plan is to make such a thing in the future. But this one works so well I don't know if I will change it.
Nice work big guy! I currently do hay the hard way myself. The drought at the end of 2019 summer for us in GA hurt. I bought a lot of hay because my fields didn't hold up over winter the way they normally do. I'm considering buying at least a mini round baler. We currently bush hog, hand spread , then rake into piles. From there we stuff a hand made box baler so we can store in the barn. LOTS OF HARD WORK!! Great content in your video's! College Hill I have a Mahindra tractor also and wanted a canopy for it. I found for the quality and price at Rhino Hide Canopy. I’ve had it two years now and it’s been wonderful. You and your viewers should check it out.
Thank you. I made a sun shade out of pvc pipe and a piece of tarp. But would much rather have a canopy. I go under a lot of trees though.
I understand but this canopy is though and it’s also removable in about two minutes. You should at least check his website it could change your mind.
I just picked up a used 6 foot rake, I was toying with the idea of using it somehow after I brush hog. I think the wheel kit would help, but it's $400 for the two wheels.
Yeah those wheel kits ain't cheap. My rake is probably too big for my little tractor. But it works good enough.

I'd like to know what the moisture content is.
I have no idea. I don't have a meter. But it is plenty dry enough to put up and not mold.

Hes using it for mulch. Also, in Montana they put hay up loose in bins. "Valley of a thousand hay stacks" it's an old dying method used to feed cows in winter.. However with our drought and also not knowing 100% what hay I buy has been sprayed I'm researching this method to save all I can. Thanks for making the play list so easy.
