    I had to watch it two times because when I first saw it, I was enamoured of the beauty of those chess pieces and couldn't concentrate on the moves.

    It all was over as soon as he moved the king to g4 instead of f2, guaranteed checkmate no matter what once that move was made. A bit silly considering this was right after an overnight pause in the game, any GM would've known the rook going to e3 was coming and that was their only option to survive.
    I'm not a chess expert by any means, but I put this exact state into an analyzer with Stockfish 16, and it knew checkmate was inevitable if that move was made.
    Still a good movie though, just not realistic as it's not a solved game whatsoever. Stockfish didn't see any guaranteed checkmate even looking 15+ moves ahead after that initial change was made.
    Black is still most likely going to win either way.
