    3:10 "If all the little pressing things slide, then so be it. You've been letting your dreams and aspirations slide for years. Now flip it around. Stop letting dreams and aspirations slide." Such an eye opening quote.

    If you pay attention to your calm and natural breathing while doing a task you'll find that you can absorb information better rather than just trying to focus your attention on that task, because when a random thought enters your mind your breathing will change, then your attention will start to wander, so as people we always think that we have to focus our attention on the task, but its our breathing that we should focus on first then when its calm and natural we'll be focused and aware, and its our awareness which will enable us to perfom our tasks more intuitively.

    I love it August. I've heard this before, but it never hurts with a powerful repetition. With regards to "decide what matters most", are you considering doing a video about values and value goals?. With regards to priority items, I love the concept of daily highlight, and the way one decides upon ONE thing that is the most important thing to get done, and if done, is considered a success.
    Also, will you do a video on leverage that relates to the template you gave out in your newsletter?

      @@augustbradley I have such respect for your methodic approach to productivity and building the systems that support, and not overwhelm us. I'm so easily distracted and just applying time blocking and good planning (of a well defined most important project) doesn't always mean I'll really _do_ what matters. It's difficult when you work alone and not everyone has the internal accountability partner. My other issue is that I like to postpone the (hopefully) great result in order to enjoy it more when reached. It's like when a musician tinkers with a new song for ages, just to finally release it ... This is both perfectionism but maybe also avoiding the responsibility for the level of the "finished product". As long as I'm working on something, I can always call it "in progress" and avoid the judgement.

    As a mom, I never even considered contemplating my own dreams and aspirations. I am not sure even where to begin or if it's too late at 55 years old

    • @augustbradley
      @augustbradley  2 роки тому

      55 is young! Karen, absolutely design your life and identify your dreams. You have decades to build and shape your life. Begin by identifying what makes you feel most alive and gives life meaning to you, then build habits and start projects around learning and growing in that direction.

      I don't have the name of it, just the notes. Most of Oliver's past articles have been removed since he ended the column. I wish I could find it. But I did capture all of the good parts on my notes, so it lives on this way!

    Great video overall but I think the last message is misleading - "Inspiration is for amateurs, the rest of us just show up and get to work.” Some days you just not gonna have the mood to start and that's where this mindset is useful. However, you can't brute force your way through life (also what's the point?). If lack of motivation persists, perhaps you need to make some changes...

    Hello,
    First of all, congratulations for your work.
    Your video is very close to the recommendations of Gary Keller in his book "The One Thing".
    If I had the level in English. I would have contacted you a long time ago to exchange with you. You have a beautiful approach to Notion. But far too complex in the business world to be scaled.
    Nice day from a French entrepreneur.
