    I am back in Bangkok this Thursday 16th May, staying in Thailand for a month this time specifically to find an area/condo to live in as I return in September to live. Just retired (yes, I am old) and have been planning this for some time. Your budget interested me as I’ve budgeted for 135,000 Baht per month to cover my living costs. Looks like I might be overshooting 😂

      You’ll be able to live very comfortably in Bangkok for that amount of spending per month haha

    Thanks, but...healthcare, other insurance, savings (you are young), investments, furniture (replace a mattress, new lamps), electronics (new camera, drone, laptop), visa costs, language course, this and more is not included but is needed? 😊

      That's a good one 👏 people usually don't think about all of those things and the worst part is when suddenly the lamp breaks at the exactly month than the microwave, TV... Or buy new towels, sheets, bed... In the end I think more siriously to live in Thailand like him, but in a hotel all included (even toilet paper)

    Yep Sam!
    U nailed it !
    Tired of seeing UA-camrs making video on cost of living under 1,000 or 1,500 a month!
    Ur cost of living is very realistic. As a foreigner living in Bangkok, true cost is between 2,000 to 2,500 usd a month.

    I help people move abroad and for major cities in Thailand (Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket, Chiang Mai) for a single guy I tell guys to live a lower upper middle class lifestyle you only need $2,500-$3,000/mo USD.
    Have minimum $2,000-$2,500/mo USD of income to relocate to Thailand.
    All these videos saying to live on $1,000/mo USD in Thailand IMO are absurd click bait.
    You can also survive on minimum wage in the USA but would you purposely choose to live like that while giving up your own culture, family, friends, and country?
    Their is a reason the Thailand government set the foreigner retirement visa monthly income minimum at 65K baht or $1,900/month which is also roughly the average monthly US social security check.

    - I spent 15 000 - 20 000 baht / month when I worked in Bangkok + my company paid for apartment 15 000 baht, sim card and some travel expenses when I inspected hotels around Thailand.

      I get that you're being really careful with your money, but sometimes it's worth spending a bit more to truly enjoy life. It's not just about existing, but living and making memories. If I spent 15k-20k baht a month I would be constantly be penny pinching

    Finally a realistic budget. I’m so tired of these 50k budget videos. Now I would personally add about 15k more for my rent and multiply your $55 nightlife budget by 10 to give me another 15k and 6k for health insurance to give me a grand total of 110k a month budget. So props to you for giving a real number. I’ve always said 3k usd a month guarantee income to live proper. Now that’s my life everyone is different.

    If need 100,000 baht per month adjusted for inflation you need £866,000 invested.
    If you need 200,000 baht per month adjusted for inflation you need £1,732,000 invested.
    This assumes that you want your money to last 30+ years.
    This assumes that someone wants to retire early and live on passive income.

      Interesting way to look at it actually!

    • @BirdDog.
      @BirdDog. 14 днів тому

      1 million usd earning 5-6% and drawing at the 4.5% annual schedule is 120k per month, and each year you can give yourself a raise of 3%. Not sure where your math of 866 pounds would not be enough adjusting for inflation. 5-6% apy is actually been very low the last 10 years. A 50/50 portfolio has been doing 6-7%. Even a guaranteed annuity for life would be ample not that I would recommend that. Plus at 62 the government will pay you at least $1500 a month so you can throttle down the amount you draw.

    • @carlyndolphin
      @carlyndolphin 14 днів тому

      @@BirdDog. Have you heard of the 4% rule? It basically means based on historical data you can with withdraw 4% from your investment portfolio and worse case scenario it would have lasted 30 years, adjusted for inflation. However I’m 45 years old and I might live until I’m 90, therefore 3% withdrawal rate, adjust for inflation is safer. I’ve also factored in that there might not be a government pension when I’m 67.

    Thanks for the video and info. Last year, I lived in the Jomtien area for 6 months and my monthly budget was $3K and that's with companionship with a regular Thai lady for 3x a week without buying any LDs and barfines. I did not eat any western food due way more expensive and been eating Thai food in the market. In my early 50's now, I was planning to retire but I changed my mind in the very last second and back to work again in CA, started from scratch. Will do this again, next year.
