It's a rare romance I actually enjoy or dont DNF, but Ugly Love got 5 stars when I read it a couple years ago bc it hit right in the feels with something I'm highly sensitive to. But I would be scared to reread it bc idk if now I would feel like she uses tragedy in a way I dont like just to get emotions out of readers.
Honestly this video made me feel seen because when I first read these books I really wasn’t super into it - mostly for the same reasons as you (even though I’m a big colleen hoover fan), but her earlier books were kinda ehh for me. I’m so happy I’m not the only one who didn’t really like these books. When I first read them, these were actually the books that I hated the most from colleen (yes, I know I’m in the minority with that). I found Confess to be okay but nothing really special, and I also forgot a lot of things that happened in the book, which is really rare for me. So I was happy that I’m not the only one. For November 9, I was super uncomfortable reading that book because Ben was being such a cringy and controlling guy. And (I’m so sorry), Ugly Love was probably the book that annoyed me most from colleen hoover because - literally all of their problems could be solved if they just had an adult conversation. There is so much miscommunication in that book that annoyed me so much. My all-time favorite book of colleen hoover is also It Ends With Us (which isn’t really surprising), but anyway - I’m so happy you were very honest in your thoughts! Thank you for the daily uploads they make my day 🥰 (Sorry my comment is kinda long lol)
LMAOOOO you're reaction when you read us the part of the rhyming in Confess 😂 I'm so happy to watch all your videos! xoxox I read Nov 9 a couple months ago & I could notttt with that book 🙄 I didn’t see the ‘twist’ coming but it wasn’t worth it because Ben is annoying & always talks about her panties 🥴
i'm so happy the Station Eleven show is good (so far)! i like how they made some changes to it for the show but it still feels like its capturing the essence of the book at its core.
When I reread favorite books from 5+ years ago, I don’t think critically about it. Different times, different beliefs, different ideas 🤣 I just want to protect the fun memories I had with said favorite books. Side notes: I don’t know if you know that these confessions are true fans confessions. I think that’s super cool.
- you should totally start painting, i want to get back into it too and i’m not good at all but the feeling of paint is always super satisfying - i really love your nail look!!! - not the rhyming 🤣 - i’ve never read a colleen hoover book but the way she writes these male characters is a big YIKES
Lololol this is literally how almost all my rereads go! I hardly ever enjoy things as much as I did the first time found. I’ve had books go from 5 stars to 2 stars in the space of ONE YEAR! Rachel making you that bookmark 🥺🥺🥺🥺
First off, loved this video. I myself was thinking of rereading some of her books and was looking forward to this video ever since you talked about it. And also, I’m loving all the content you have been pushing out lately. You are feeding us so well
Now I'm scared to reread Confess and not enjoy it lol, all I remember is the ending and how Owen wasn't as toxic as the other male characters from Colleen's previous novels. Did you also thought that the way Auburn's issue was handled was kind of bad? Like, I wanted that guy to really suffer. Ugly Love is heartbreaking, but some of the sex scenes really made me unconfortable and stop liking Miles, having a tragic past doesn't mean you can treat people like trash. And I have a love-to-hate relationship with November 9 because my best friend gave to me as a birthday gift with her annotations and both of us didn't like it, but I still appreciate her effort. I love Atlas too! He's the best.
Yeah I definitely think Auburns issue could have been handled better! And yes, exactly! Just because you have a tragic past doesn’t mean you can treat people like shit! So true! 🙌
The only book from these three I’ve read was ugly love. I personally also feel like friends with benefits just isn’t my thing because their connection is just only based on sexual interactions ( which is obviously the point ) but I’m just not able to care for the romance and characters when that’s the only aspect. I expected to like it a lot more cause everyone raves about it but idk I just didn’t care for the characters until the very end when they finally talk about emotions instead of just fucking and like you said having that same convo over and over about “I can’t fall for you”
I love this concept, getting to see your thoughts on these books now. I binged all of Colleen's books in 2019 and I loooove her writing style and how easy it is to read her books and how addicting they are. I also live for the plot twists. But I was never sold on all her characters or the relationships. So it's great that her newer books have better characters and relationships and are less problematic. My favourite books would be Verity and Layla cause her writing is great for more thrillery books. Also it ends with us is great. My least favourite is Too Late. Yikes!
If you do your puzzles on top of a cheap yoga mat you can roll them up when you aren't working on them and put them away until you're ready to roll them back out! Great hack for small apartment/shared spaces!!
I'm a newbie at Colleen Hoover's books and I mainly read three books of her, VERITY, LAYLA and IT ENDS WITH US.. Obviously IT ENDS WITH US became an easy favorite for me. I was planning to read her other books next year.. Thanks to you actually coz I discovered CoHo books coz of your videos..💗
I can't go back and read Colleen Hoover's books because I know I would feel differently. I wanna keep that good feeling about those books. My favorite is It Ends With Us.
You could get one of those puzzle mats (i think that's what it's called). You basically do the puzzle on it and when you're done for the day you just roll it up and put it away until you want to work on it again. I have one and love it :)
My two favorite books by Colleen Hoover were Maybe Someday and Ugly Love. I remember loving November 9 when it came out but I tried to reread it and I absolutely hated it. I’m scared to reread the others because I don’t think I will have the same feelings about them that I did when I read them. Great video 👍🏽💕
I was constantly smiling and laughing while watching this video cause this was so fun. I feel the more you read and grow the more you understand about fiction and reality. I absolutely loved that you came back and reread these cause though these are adult books it’s not necessary that will have your same opinion throughout the years. And honestly it ends with us is the best book by coho no doubt. I read November 9 without merit and it ends with us last year(first time). I don’t remember much of November 9 but yeah I enjoyed it but also found that it was controlling and the idea of not having any contact for entire year but only on November 9 seemed interesting for 2015 era but in 2020 I honestly felt it was stupid. I read ugly love this year and I feel the same that miles’s past chapters were so cringy. but I did enjoy that one a lot cause I found Tate’s brother corbin so funny. I just completed verity and think it was haunting and dark but also good coming from a romance author. That’s what I keep thinking and tell other people that you can’t judge and compare something back from 5-10 years with recent times. I mean so much has changed in 2 years. 5 years is still a long time. Also reading taste changes every time. It all comes down to if you enjoyed that specific book at that specific time or not. You make it so easy gabby that it’s okay to have different thoughts and opinions. That’s why I always find your videos so calming 💕also I haven’t reread any of the 5 books because I started regular reading last year only but I’m sure whenever I do in the future my thoughts wouldn’t be the same as the first time lol
That poetry style of writing in Ugly Love just gives me Joe Goldberg vibes lol. I haven't read the book though so I don't know what Myles is actually like.
I just started reading Reminders of Him.. and so far, it's a pretty good book. I haven't read any of the books you have read yet so if I happen to see them in my library, I might check them out and give them a read.
I've never read a colleen hoover book, I was gonna purchase most of her backlists to read first, luckily I didn't. I think I'm gonna start with her bigger titles. And yeah thats a whole lot of signs screaming at you to paint, don't ignore them lol.
Hi Gabby, I do find that as you mature your reading style does change. I have books that I have given 5* before and I reread 6 years later and barely gave 2*. I don't think this is a negative on you, the author or the book - Its just progression. You will come to find that some you are 5*'ing right now will become 2/3*'s in 5-10 years time. I glad you decided to complete and publish this video though, it's a nice insight into past and evolving Gabby.
Gabby’s uploads + Colleen Hoover = ♥️😌😍 Also, my first (and only) read by her is It Ends With Us, which I loved. Can I get a recommendation on which one to read next?
I've read Verity and It Ends With Us, and I stopped because I heard many problematic things about her books and I didn't know which ones I would like. Now I know which ones to avoid thanks to this lol.
I just discovered Colleen Hoover last year...November/December of 2020. I did not like Ugly Love...so much just rubbed me the wrong way about those characters and their relationship. I remember Confess being ok. November 9 I loved and is my favorite book of hers...but part of that probably has to do with the fact that the premise reminds me so much of my favorite movie of all time...Same Time Next Year. I mean...other than meeting the same time every year and no contact between they are nothing alike...but I really enjoyed November 9. Definitely the characters have issues...but I also feel like the novel calls out those issues and deals with them. I dont know...maybe it's time for a reread.
Verity was my first Colleen Hoover and I loved it. Then I read Layla which was really not great. I’m interested in seeing her other works because she’s a really good writer, but I’m not into sad and I’m not into sappy. I’m just starting the video so I’m going to take notes. 🤓
Thanku for this vid, Gabby! I haven't read any CH yet and leaning towards trying one really soon. But now that I see this u've saved me the effort. I already can tell I wouldn't be a fan of the writing. N' the "formula" ...nah! Better to stir away. There's plenty other epic rom stories of my taste. Thanku :) Some writers ain't just ur thing maybe.
I'm really sorry u had that freak out/heart attack moment bc of the glitch relating to the most surprising books vid :( I feel bad bc I was thrilled when it popped up the time it did, now seeing u stressed out about makes me sad. Hope this thing never happens again.
A guy I went to school with made some money with a best-selling novel subsequently turned into a major motion picture. He began hanging out in a very hip nightclub, where he met his future wife, a former model whose career was cut short by a maniac with a knife. That's what I remembered when you described that MC of November 9.
I'm swooning over Rachel making u a bookmark :)🥰 just a couple of days ago I received some similar ones from a loved one too....me; I made them for myself🙃.
Is CH a young adult author? I didn’t think so but these sound kind of ya. Also think about how many books you’ve read since you first read that. The more you’re exposed to other writing, viewpoints etc. your taste expands and it makes you have more of a critical (not negative ) eye.
I have decided no more Colleen Hoover for me.“Verity”was the last straw. Now that’s only my opinion. Everyone needs to read what they love and enjoy. ✌🏻🤠
I really enjoyed ugly love the first time I read it. Curious to see my thoughts on if I were to reread it now what I'd think. My fave by her is verity and least fave is maybe someday.
I think I've read only 3 of her books...so far. My favorite is Regretting You. I also read Verity...it was good. I can't remember the other one I read.
The only Colleen Hoover I've read is November 9... which I only picked up because of the title being my birthday. I remember enjoying aspects of the plot, but I didn't like the characters.
Wuthering heights put me in a reading slump for months on end! Pushed myself to read it since it's a classic but damn im still halfway into it and haven't picked up another book since. Stay away! You've been warned 😂
Ok I have A LOT to say here. I've adored Colleen Hoover for years. She is my favorite author but as I've gotten older I've noticed how problematic her books really are! I'll start with Ugly Love.. Miles' character was far too much like Christian Grey for me. A lot of the book reminded me too much of 50 Shades. OK, it wasn't whips and chains but it was very similar in all other aspects. The broken, brooding man who cannot love and commit... the girl who falls even though she knows she shouldn't and pretty much just gets walked all over. She wasn't a strong female character and I found her so contradicting. The sex scenes in almost every single bloody chapter... EL James.... meet your writing doppelgänger. November 9 I enjoyed more.. Once again, Colleen Hoover had me whimpering and sobbing in a corner - not ready to face the world for a while. Her books are SO full of love and angst - it's the most incredible combination and she pulls it off every single time. The plot twists were jaw-dropping and left me curled up in a devastated heap under my blankets. This book will also change your perspective on instalove (which lets face it, we all pretty much despise in books!!). ONLY Colleen Hoover has the ability to do that. Confess funnily enough, was my favorite back in the day and I'd love to reread it to see if I still feel the same!! This book was truly wonderful. Colleen Hoover did it again, she broke my poor heart. Crushed it. Annihilated it.
My sister loves Hoover books. I had never read them and she got me to buddy read Verity. I hated it because of how toxic and immature she writes the characters attraction to each other. Good to know that’s a pattern in her books.
Honestly I have tried reading Colleen Hoover many times but I just can’t. And I’m not one of those who gets triggered by anything so that’s not an issue. I think I’ve started reading the majority of her books at some point, and I had to dnf them all. I’m going to try Verity, hoping I like her thriller writing, but as a romance writer I will now just avoid her work. Which is sad because I really wanted to like her books.
This had me contemplating, now that I think of it I come to the conclusion that however interesting the premise may be, for a story to hit hard not live with me, it's impt to have good writing n' well flushed out characters. I would much rather prefer a book with a general often used premise with great writing n characters over one with great premise/concept n' horrible writing/characters. ...if someone read this, u probably didn't need to know this😬.
That’s like a $700 dollar purse 💀💀 they said “gabby deserves this luxury item” and they are NOT WRONG 👏🏻👏🏻 love this for you
OMG , my heart....when Tank wants to cuddle with you while you read.

Super excited for her upcoming release…hoping book of the month has it as an add on for January 2022
Awesome list Gabby. Love your channel 👍 It was nice to hear your opinion on books you previously read.

Your sister is a sweet baby angel 🥺
Actually, I was thinking of starting a new career as a rapper, so those snippets of dialogue from Confess may have helped.
LOL That cracked me up!
🤣🤣🤣
I can't go back and read Colleen Hoover's books because I know I would feel differently. I wanna keep that good feeling about those books. My favorite is It Ends With Us.
I follow Emily May on Goodreads too! I used to watch her UA-cam channel!
I’m a purse person just like your mum, and Dear Gabby , that purse is beautiful xxxxxxx
I too love the Frozen Lake candle! 🥰🥰🥰

Hey Gabby, what books do you recommend to get out of a reading slump? I read thrillers and romances.
Have to admit, I hope I never have this experience rereading old favorites--I would be really sad!
Hi Gabby, I do find that as you mature your reading style does change. I have books that I have given 5* before and I reread 6 years later and barely gave 2*. Also, my first (and only) read by her is It Ends With Us, which I loved. Can I get a recommendation on which one to read next?
All Your Perfects is one of my other faves 💞
OMFG - Tank's snores and drinking are peak dog ownership. Cannot stop laughing
gabby’s reading vlogs are litterally the best
🥺🥺💞
I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE. Ngl I think you're not gonna like them as much this time around but I might be wrong.. let's see
I would love for you to do a video guide to Colleen Hoover books!!!
I read The Lost Night earlier this year and loved it!
I loved November 9 gave it 5 stars.
It's my fav too
I've read Verity and It Ends With Us, and I stopped because I heard many problematic things about her books and I didn't know which ones I would like. Now I know which ones to avoid thanks to this lol.
I just discovered Colleen Hoover last year...November/December of 2020. I did not like Ugly Love...so much just rubbed me the wrong way about those characters and their relationship. My favorite Colleen Hoover is Heart Bones!!!
Omg yes, i read a lot of Colleen Hoover when I was younger and LOVED them… but I read a book of theirs last year and gave it one star 😬
Thanku :)
Some writers ain't just ur thing maybe.
I'm really sorry u had that freak out/heart attack moment bc of the glitch relating to the most surprising books vid :(
I feel bad bc I was thrilled when it popped up the time it did, now seeing u stressed out about makes me sad.
Hope this thing never happens again.
i was planning on doing a similar video soon rereading some of my old favorites and i was kinda hesitant & this is scaring me even more 🤣
Me hoping you'll read fangirl again! 😊
I’m reading Verity again. I’m doing it with the UA-cam audiobook. Each time I read it it feels different. See ya soon!✌🏻🤠
A guy I went to school with made some money with a best-selling novel subsequently turned into a major motion picture. He began hanging out in a very hip nightclub, where he met his future wife, a former model whose career was cut short by a maniac with a knife. Ok, one more thing. 26:56 in,- that's where I agree. Gabby, if you DONT like a book, don't continue. I ONLY read books that I enjoy.
I'm swooning over Rachel making u a bookmark :)🥰 just a couple of days ago I received some similar ones from a loved one too....me; I made them for myself🙃.
You aren't an idiot for buying the wrong phone case! We've all done something similar.
And the cutest family award goes to...
Is CH a young adult author? I didn’t think so but these sound kind of ya. Also think about how many books you’ve read since you first read that. The more you’re exposed to other writing, viewpoints etc. your taste expands and it makes you have more of a critical (not negative ) eye.
It *does* sound like YA!
I was just thinking same too- I'm sure it's adult but why does it sound like young adult more 🤔.
I kept waiting for you to say maybe someday I’ll read “Maybe Someday”.
Watching this made me very nervous to read November 9. But really any of her books.
Tank!! Love you Buddy
I absolutely detest going to the post office too, I avoid it if I can help it lol 😅
i've never read anything by her before, good to know which ones to not pick up if i ever do decide to read one of her books 😂
Hehe, same! :'D
What's the name of the song at 22:25?
I have decided no more Colleen Hoover for me.“Verity”was the last straw. Now that’s only my opinion. Everyone needs to read what they love and enjoy. ✌🏻🤠
absolutely loved Verity
I’m eagerly waiting for the patreon x
It’s coming soon 🥰🥰🥰
I really enjoyed ugly love the first time I read it. Curious to see my thoughts on if I were to reread it now what I'd think. My fave by her is verity and least fave is maybe someday.
I think I've read only 3 of her books...so far. My favorite is Regretting You. I also read Verity...it was good. I can't remember the other one I read.
Am i the only person in this world who can neither reread books nor rewatch tv shows and movies?
I rewatch things all the time lol but never really reread books!
no I am the same way. Some series I can rewatch, like Friends or The office but books, no.
I hate crowded places too.
How do you feel about Colleen Hoover’s books now? Would you recommend her older books?
I love your videos, but when Tank makes an appearance it is even better. My dog is laying in my lap snoring as I watch this.
Love your videos!! 🖤🖤🖤✨✨
Layla is my favorite COHO book!
All your perfects is my favorite!
Would love to see you rank Jennifer McMahon and Lisa Jewell books.
I’m planning on rereading Confess this month! It’s also been years since I’ve read CoHo and I don’t think it’s going to live up 🥴
Omg where’s your bookworm sweatshirt from!
The only Colleen Hoover I've read is November 9... which I only picked up because of the title being my birthday. I remember enjoying aspects of the plot, but I didn't like the characters.
My favourite of hers is it ends with us and verityy.i adore verity .
FUUUUUCK yes puzzles!
Wuthering heights put me in a reading slump for months on end! Pushed myself to read it since it's a classic but damn im still halfway into it and haven't picked up another book since. Stay away! You've been warned 😂
Out of the three, November 9 is my favorite! 📚📚
Was wondering if you were going to get a PO Box?
No I sadly don’t have a PO Box 😭
Now I’m scared to reread older Colleen Hoover books lol I think I’ll leave them as happy memories 😅
Read Verity and All Your Perfects and It Ends With Us 👏🏻👏🏻
that rhymes would make me dnf a book instantly 😭💀
My sister loves Hoover books. I had never read them and she got me to buddy read Verity. I hated it because of how toxic and immature she writes the characters attraction to each other. Good to know that’s a pattern in her books.
I’ve been wanting to start painting, too! And and and I love puzzling but don’t do it enough! So let’s paint and puzzle together this year haha! 😉

Colleen hoover is an author I really want to read ASAP
Hoover’s books remind me of fanfic…I totally can’t understand all the TikTok hype. 😂
GO OFF about November 9!!!! I hated that book 🤮
Anyone who read Verity and didn't enjoy it ? I'm one of those who got put off by CoHo's first book itself 😂😂
Colleen Hoover books always have a weird non conventual tilt. I don’t understand how she got so popular with the love interests she writes
