God the first like 2 lines sunk my heart bc I knew vaguely where it was gonna go, but the end of the bridge, that soft line and the pause... made me gasp and just. Freeze. The stories these guys tell are able to just grab your heart and not let it go. Their storytelling is so powerful.
i love badflower. i listen to them everyday. this song is my favorite. i escaped an abusive relationship 5 yrs ago. i went from hiding in a bathroom, just like the song said, to living in my own house with my current partner who loves me and getting excited about decorating for christmas.

So many bits of this song stick out to me, especially the part where it goes "the father of her son" and the music abruptly stops, there's so much emotion that can accurately describe how someone in this situation would feel.
I'm relatively new to this band but I can honestly say they are quickly becoming a favorite. This album is amazing (coming from an older hippie chick ✌ 😁).
Thought I was alone in my middle aged BF love. We are in the minority. Wife thought I was nuts when I became addicted to ok I’m sick and dragged her to see them in 19, then realized what I saw in them. Now she’s a dead poet society junkie too! I have no words to describe the feelings this song gives to me whenever I listen to but I say "thank you" to Badflower becouse they are able to put these feelings into a song.
When the chorus comes back after "the father of her son" I just want to angry scream it with Josh. This scenario is disgusting and unfortunately real for some people. Such a powerful delivery of an issue that many are willingly ignorant of. Scream it louder so they have to acknowledge it.
It especially hits really close to reality when he says the father of her son part because throughout the song before that we are lead to believe that the love that keeps her chained is the love for the guy. But then it's immediately followed up with "if you love someone unwilling "verse and then realization hits like a semi. It's not him she cares for. She cares nothing for him. She's just with him because she had a child with him and the love that keeps her there is for her child. She wants a better life for her child even if it means sacrificeing her happiness and suffering. It's the most realistic representation of abusive relationship I have heard come out in a while. But then he makes it even harder hiting by adding more to the story of the girl. We get to see just the start and some of the middle of this chapter of this characters life and honestly I'm happy that's all we get to see because the rest of this character's chapter is filled with horrible shit and worse they might not escape.
Thank you so much for this song. It hurts me to think about my past and this hits so damn close to home but turns that pain into something else. I don't know what it is but it feels good.

Jesus, another song that digs right down to the horrific shit so many people have to face. I love this band for openly covering these topics among all the (admittedly also enjoyable) "fluff" songs that I also listen to. Badflower's anger, the emotion behind Josh's vocals, it's fucking big emotion.
I resonate so much with this band and it's music. Genuinely. I've been through... Almost all of what is contained in this song. When i listen to it im in and out of triggers and it's so confusing and complicated and it's weird because I love the song. It's oddly comforting despite everything hitting home so hard. I can't fault the song at all. I can't fault the band. The vocals are perfect. i know everyone deals with trauma differently and it is very complicated for everyone so i can only speak for my own experiences but thank you Badflower.
This song has inspired me in ways I can't even describe. So many people go through this and it's likely that they don't know what to do. I want so much to help them. Oh fuck, I do appreciate this song, very much, but it's really too harsh for me. And just... The euphemism of the chorus "love someone unwillingly", it is (for me) so fucking hurtful. Being rape by someone is so different than making love. (Not saying that is what they wanna say!) They make their choice to choose this euphemism (and the others one "abused") and I respect that. That is their song, and I think they can be bloody proud of the whole thing (it's incredibly powerful and, fuck, yes, the music is so beautiful!!!), but I so much more prefere when things are named. Just a personnal opinion that I needed to exprim, I'm happy to discuss it ^^
