- Hey y'all! Ben recently left for his first military deployment. We are incredibly sad that he had to leave but Elodie and I are eagerly awaiting his safe return. Please pray for Ben's safety throughout this deployment and all other service members that are currently deployed.

Thompson Fam I ship in 22 days, my daughter is 1 years old and it’s really getting hard. But me and me wife are ready. It’s very emotional but it pushes us to be the best ever because of the sacrifice of our family time is one of the most important moments we will miss. Making most of this. Thank your husband for his service.
None of my family members are/were soldiers. But when ever i watch these type of videos always bring me tears. I understand the sacrifice that a family have to go through. Family soldiers truely deserve RESPECT. Love from Shillong, India.

I don't know y but i felt the pain...my brother and my father come and go after being a year apart... they're not in the army but yeah...so i can understand everything that's going through her mind...you know when you guys were putting the luggage inside the car...it felt like I'm there too...in a nutshell...i felt every single moment of this video...the song makes it more special...Salute to your husband...and your daughter obviously know that she has the greatest hero in life....

This video pulls at my heart! My husband deployed for 6+ months when our kids were not yet 2, and 5 months.
I was 3 years when my father, who served the Brazilian Air Force, deployed to Haiti, to serve in Minustah, then again in 2010, when I was 9, to help the people of Haiti after the earthquake, few years ago he joined a NGO, so he is sent to many places. Right now he is in Congo, helping with the refugee crisis coming from Burundi.
The worst day is the day I have to leave my wife for a deployment. The look on her face when I have to get on the bus is heartbreaking, but I know she’s tough enough to get through it. From one Air Force family to another, hang in there and remember that you have family and friends there for you.

This made me tear and it reminded me of the first time my husband deployed and all the other times when he needed to leave when my daughter was your daughter's age. Thankfully they were all shorter than deployments, but still just as sad. Deployments (and any other time they leave) sucks and this is one thing that I definitely will not miss when my husband gets out of the Marine Corps.
You're such a strong wife and mom. You are a lot stronger than I was when my husband needed to pack his gear. I would always watch him from the side and cry my eyes out.

@@ShaunaConnor Thanks for your sweet words. All military families (as well as other people who have to deal with separation) are strong and it takes strength to get through things. Yes, he is getting out in about two months and honestly I have very mixed feelings about it. On one hand I am excited to be home with my family, have help with my daughter (and date nights :) ), and she'll be raised around family. However I also don't want him to get out because he's half way to retirement and I enjoy being a military wife.
How long has your husband been in? Does he plan on retiring?
Kylie M I can imagine it’s a lot of mixed feelings for y’all. Having family close will be so nice though!! Date nights 😍 holidays together 😍 so much! As much as the military can be difficult, I also enjoy being a military wife so I totally get it! At the end of the day I probably wouldn’t want Ben to get out any time soon even if it is hard! Ben has been in for a few years now but he is planning on retiring for sure so we have a long way to go still.
I started to cry while I'm watching these vedio I remember my kids when I leave in Philippines to work her in abroad it's hard to leave but these is the rigth decision for there future watching her in saudi arabia

Just now watching this. I hate saying goodbye to my husband. He left for a year when our son was only 4 months. John’s now 2 and he has never celebrated a birthday with him due to being gone so much. It’s heartbreaking.

All my life I've wanted a military husband but after watching this and now knowing they would actually have to leave you sometimes at times you need them most I don't know. But I still want someone to fight for me and everyone else in this world so I guess my dreams are not over yet.... I love you all

Its a lot harder than people think it is. My husband was deployed when my first was born and didnt meet her until she was 6 months. My husband has left for a month for training 3 times this year. Next year he is already scheduled for 3 more. One of his month long trainings this year, our youngest was 3 months old. (We have 3 kids) i wouldnt trade it for the world becuase I adore him, but its hard since you dont even live near family for support when your husband leaves. Ive actually seen his family more than he has in the last three years becuase i visited them while he was deployed. Just know what you are getting into becuase many relationships have cracked under the pressure and it feels like half the people in the spousal group are going through divorces right now and trying to figure out how to get back to thier home state. Being married to a soldier means inconsistent work hours, deployments, trainings, if they are airborne it can mean last minute jumps (last week i found out the day before that my husband had a night jump and he didnt come home until midnight after leaving at 6am) he has had multiple TBIs and injuries due to work. I wish you all the luck in the world if you happen to fall in love with a soldier but i wouldnt recommend you specifically looking for one.
