I celebrate her entire catalogue. Her debut album is a perfect, non skip album. Talkin’ Bout A Revolution is an all time favorite of mine. As a 13 year old white boy when her debut came out, she gave me a raw look into what is to be black, to be a woman and to be poor. I’ll never truly know those experiences, but she helped to open a door to empathy and ultimate respect for those who are different than me. Ultimately, her music is about everything that is universal to the human experience and bridges our perceived differences. She is an empath and that makes her an exceptional conduit to the universal truths. Her music played a part in shaping my worldview. I adore her❤

My favorite is her debut. I love it’s rawness and stripped down production. It makes me feel closer to her and her experience. Every song is like an arrow to the heart and her vocals are on full display. Most of all, it was the album that I heard first and I was blown away by it as a young teen. There’s something special about the albums you discover in your formative years. They have the most impact and ability to shape you and how you view the world
