My late husband was diagnosed as having Cerebral Palsy at 18 months of age. He spent his life battling mobility issues. For those without a disability I know the ADA is a real drag. For those who daily deal with disabilities, The ADA is a great help, and still disabled people face prejudices and barriers that destroys lives and hope. Accessible bathrooms are a consideration able-bodied people can not fully appreciate unless they find themselves in a cast that extends from hip to toe, or otherwise confined to a wheelchair for more than 6 weeks.
It may not seem possible that a handicapped person would want to access your workshop Mike, but accidents happen, and any person at any time can become a handicapped person, so please say a little prayer for those afflicted with a disability, and do try to comply with the ADA as much as possible
You are one very talented man, those templates were brilliant! I love how the slate tile goes up the wall, and all the time spent on the veined tile was so worth it, it’s gorgeous. Stabilizing that seemingly ugly wall is the best idea ever, turning it into an art piece maybe framed with some nice wood! What a great episode, thanks so much!
Nitches get stitches!!!!
Thanks Nana, the templating is a lot of fun especially when you see it all come together. haha!
Spectacular job Joel, your results are fantastic. I actually enjoy tile work and find myself observing other people's work in stores, restaurants etc to see how well or poorly the layout was done. Frequently thinking, "Not the way I would have done it".
Thank you very much! I do the same thing, gas stations and Chinese restaurants for some reason are always the worst.
Loved how you laid out the tile so the "veins" would be continuous. Very nice and professional.
Thanks Jerry, that actually took quite a long time, I joked that I needed my wife and mother in law to do it for me because they are really good at puzzles.
"Federal Law" that my mom helped create. (Head of the Architectural and Transportation Compliance Board set up in the 80s) I know it's an inconvenience for many, but soooo appreciated by a lot of people that were overlooked for so many years. even when you have your hip or knee replaced, you'll appreciate these features. 😉
Our safety plan is to move into the downstairs room if we ever can't handle stairs!
Outstanding work -- the hexagonal tiles are becoming your trademark. Best part of this is you showing how great preparation and planning makes the end product look amazing. Very cool!
I install tile for a living and after seeing your attention to detail, I can honestly say I think I need to step up my game.
Wow thanks man that means a lot to me, but you're also in a tough place you have to move fast enough to make money! I can go a bit slower and still be ok.
Mike - Your patience and attention to detail results in a beautiful design. Love your work!
Will make one heck of statement to potential customers on both design talents as well as craftsmanship. Super job guys.
Frustrating, but the end result was worth it. I like that you take your time thinking things through before committing to them. I've had to learn that the hard way, but now that we're building our home from scratch, the effort is paying off for us. Things line up properly, corners are square, and we spend way less time correcting our mistakes now. I just enjoy watching you think about things as much as doing them.
Thanks Alan. I've also learned that the hard way, nothing like having to live with a project you aren't happy with!
I am always impressed by your continued growth in all your projects big or small. I remember when I first started to watch your videos you had longer hair. Now your further down the line in experience and skills. Thank you for keeping it interesting and enjoyable to watch. Great work. I would watch you sit on a bench reading a book. A fan in Minneapolis.
I think it is the first comment I've left on your channel. Been following you for a very long time. Your attention to detail is truly amazing Mike. This is one of my favorite videos of your work ever. I love the longer time man. You are a legend!
Thank you for commenting Pierre, I appreciate it, glad you enjoyed the longer format. I enjoy making this type more, that people can just relax and watch. I really dislike the tic toc style but it seems that is the direction everything is going.
Thanks for posting the detailed version. Like the tile choice and very cool laying out the shower floor + the vein running through the wall.
Nice project done Mike.
I think you have done a great job on all the tile. I know it takes patience to do that . All the tile work I've done over the years is always different for each job. Really looking great!
Hi, I have done my share of tiling in my lifetime, but this is not good it is excellent and fantastic at the same time. You have done better than most tile setters and you have solved problems with ease.
Nice work Mike. I could never be patient enough to do tile work like you did in this bathroom. Brilliant work:)
A bathroom as a work of art! In Europe there have only been wall-mounted toilets for more than 30 years, you are already lagging behind.
I don’t know why they aren’t more popular here. I would have to special order them.
My favorite channel keeps getting. better and better. Rock on, Mike. Can't wait to stop by for the grand opening. LOVE the tile/vein design.
I did enjoy the more detailed version of the build. I learned some things. Thank you!
So excited to see a video of yours again. Your attention to detail is amazing. The vein continuation is so well done. Thanks for sharing as you work on this project.
i cant manage how many hours take do that tile , manage hiring a tile guy and doing this tile and hours of labor it sure wouldn't be cheap that for sure , great job and thanks for sharing
That looks fantastic and with a great eye for the details! You should indeed be very proud of that! 🙂
Thanks!
Your hard work IS APPRECIATED! Looking 4ward to your deer hunting vid this season 😀
Another fantastic video Mike, you're like the Kanye West of tiling with your creativity .
Wow, the bathroom looks fantastic Mike - well done!!! Your work is always beyond amazing!! 🤗
Absolutely gorgeous ! I had veined tile I did what you did spent a day laying out the veins. Dam if I didn't break a few. My job wasn't as complicated as yours.
Georgia tile master u tube was a big help in my preparation
Oh no! Yea It was a bummer when I broke pieces I needed. I really like sal diblasi for how to tile videos.
Great bathroom Mike, I enjoyed the time-lapse video by this with your commentary rocks.
Awesome tile work a true master for detail, the corner detail looks great, I would have used white grout on the black tiles but thats just me.
Thanks so much Henry. I almost used white, but was scared about it getting permanently dirty.
It's brilliant desing and work!!!
I absolutely adore this bathroom 😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮❤❤❤❤❤❤
dude you have the patience of a saint, your work looks perfect from here, don't sell. yourself short. come on over and do my bathroom anytime . lol.. great job.
Hey thanks man, we are almost to the point where we can get those cabinets and your countertops in!
I have those handles in my place. They were in place when I moved in and even as fit, totally able person I use them all the time very handy actually
I'm actually liking them myself as well. Once I got over drilling through the tile.
now thats just showing off! 😂😂😂
seriously tho, awesome work! the shower tiling would give me severe OCD (did it you?! 😂) that marbling line that was there... you nailed it so well! id charge extra for just that shower tiling!!! 😂😂
your a natural interior designer imho!
nice you have a new bird... ok its wild but it seems to like you and the property! 😊
Thanks Geoff, yea I spent quite a long time trying to line up veins. The crazy thing is its cheap tile and the company doesn't package them in patterns. You can literally get a box that has no matches.
Your work is amazing. Are you self taught in a lot of the things you accomplish? You so remind me of my late husband, his brain was always in gear. He always challenged himself. OH IO/ FLORIDA
Thank you Dolores, yes I am self taught in most things. I had a good example watching my Dad.
@@50Acres my husband started carving with a pocket knife because he learned his grandfather from Slovenia was a person that made gingerbread on homes. My hubby had built a log home from a kit, built a T BUCKET CAR, DUNE BUGGY FOR RACING plus so mush more. Afraid he passed a year ago. Your channel has bought me joy. Thank u . Keep up the good work and don't burn yourself up ,ENJOY.
Impressive tile work, I’ve seen professional work that didn’t look this good. You do know they make hole saws for tile right?
Wow thanks Cory, yea I have several, but when the holes get really big, I just use a grinder.
I do like what you do ❤, I am surprised that you didn’t have the black tails coming out in too the hall 😊😍
What are the arrows pointing to on your pink socks and what do they say LOL.
After spending $24 K on two bathrooms I wish you were my tile guy! I'm now having to spend more to fix their mistakes.
Unfortunately that's all too common in the tile industry. Lot of people running around claiming they can do tile and really screwing up projects. Sorry it happened to you.
Man you do some great work. So meticulous. Could you somehow do a thick layer of polyurethane on that exposed wall? That would look so much better than the corrugated metal in my opinion.
Thanks so much Sean, I was thinking something like that for the wall, a flat poly of some sort. I have some stuff I used on the brick that might work.
Who will be using that restroom?
Probably just me. I might have a showroom one day so I made it nice in case I ever have customers.
His eye is on the sparrow and i know he watches you🙂
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍❤️❤️
When I was new to woodworking and building, I'd see a lot of youtube build and how-to videos where the craftsman would bam-bam-bam out the parts in rapid-fire. They didn't show the painstaking, thoughtful moments that made the project actually work and come together properly, or even safely. It was like they'd toss it together and it would just work-out great. Needless to say, I didn't learn the art of careful thought or precision, and many of my early projects failed spectacularly, and I'm SUPER lucky that my self-preservation instincts often won the battle over youthful immortality, and I still have all my parts. Your videos have offered not only the joys of watching a craftsman work, but you've taught us to be thoughtful, careful, and meticulous. I find it amazing that, when working with tiles that can't simply be replaced and substituted for another tile, you've managed to not waste a single one. I'd have burned through the whole lot before getting a single cut right. Well... previously, anyways. With our current builds underway, I think carefully (obsessively) about getting every millimeter right the first time, because time is resources, and in this era, neither is replaceable up here. Not for us. I often think as I look at our work, "Mike would be proud." Someday, if we're lucky, you guys will take a vacation up here and survey my work and get a chance to see firsthand what your student has made.
Oh my gosh guys this might be the nicest comment Ive ever read. I'm really glad you enjoyed it and I'm also really glad you stuck with it and didn't hurt yourself in the beginning! I'm sure I would be proud of your work and you can always email me pictures!
