BENEATH: The Bittersweet Constrain is an album that truly wished itself into being...
After several Hollywood music supervisors asked Jill Tracy for an instrumental version of her song "Haunted by the Thought of You," she met with producer Alex Nahas while in New York City to remix the tune.
They both became more and more intrigued, as the absence of vocals invited many of the previously unused or little-heard tracks: strings, woodwinds, Chapman Stick, sarod, harmonium and others.
The experience of listening to the instrumental version was almost like hearing another song entirely.
So, they kept going! They remixed the entire album as a cinematic experience.
These arrangements feature all the original tracks, as the band played them, in their entirely. "Fade outs" have even been omitted--you'll hear exactly how the musicians tracked the parts in the studio.
Explains Jill Tracy: "This album is a completely transporting experience, because YOU fill in the blanks. Without the vocal, the narrative is evoked by the listener. I've been so proud of our elegant and lavish arrangements on The Bittersweet Constrain, this version allows you to travel even deeper inside them."
