My wife just got a 2017 Veloce. An absolutely amazing car to drive. It really feels special. It’s the 6 speed flappy paddle auto. As for reliability, it’s all about maintenance and getting on top of any issues ASAP.
I changed over from an FN2 Civic Type R to a 2017 Giulietta Veloce and I have to say I'm absolutely loving it. It does feel a little more 'temperamental' than the Honda and a couple of small things have caused some issues but I just love driving it. It feels modern but also a throwback - with none of the electronic nanny safety kit. It's great!
nah bro, the 1750 TBI engine on the Giulietta is way more reliable than the TSI engine of the Golf. Not a problem with oil consumption nor with the timing belt. In fact, there are very tunable and some people reach 350-400hp with stock internals

Always wanted an Alfa and love my 2012 Cloverleaf. Lots of passion and handles great; a real driver's car! It also looks stunning after all these years. Had zero issues so far and it is the kind of car that makes you want to look after her.
They are actually very reliable cars. Once properly serviced then you can easily get 300k or 400k Kilometres without any trouble. I am currently on 320,000 km on mine currently.
I sold my Giulietta a month ago and bought a bmw 4 f36. And what can I say? I miss my little hatch a little bit. Although the BMW is a much better car in all respects (but it is also in a higher class), the alfa was much more fun to drive. I would also like to note that the Alfa was not a problematic car to own. Yes, there were some problems, but I mostly changed consumables: bulbs, fuses, etc. Hello from Ukraine btw

That was mostly because the older 90s and 00s alfas fkn sucked,they always had electric gremlins etc,its an alfa thing they said,bs..the Giulietta is reliable,great,quick and good on the long road,suspension could be softer though,otherwise its amazing
Euro from a country next to italy here, these cars are quite popular over here. Basically, with this gen of Alfas, anything prior to 2012 should be avoided, anything from 2012 onward is going to be very reliable assuming proper maintainance.

The problem is in NZ people are awful at maintaining their cars. That's why people think japanese cars are reliable. Not because they are, more they can withstand the abuse of New Zealand car owners. A properly maintained Golf shouldn't really have anything serious go wrong. I mean look at the latest Hondas, they have A/C compressors, timing chains, steering racks, all sorts of major issues at like 50,000km!
Traditionally I would look at Golf if I need a car to take bags of potatoes to the market, and also traditionally I would always look at Alfa for a sports car made for regular people.

I have actually. Great car, but wow an ISF is WAY more fun than an M2 haha. So you'll probably find it boring. It's a very clinical car, engine sounds a little boring and it's very twitchy. I didn't "love" it
The civic 7th gen has an issue with steering links being too long and steering box/connection way yoo high in regards to the knuckles, that is why it has e bump steer issues. It has a strange and not well thought suspenssion in general.
As a long time Alfa owner (have had four, currently have a 2002 156 GTA 3.2 and a 1981 Alfetta GTV), I'm sitting here screaming "get the bloody Check engine and oil level warning lights sorted before you flog it...". (especially when it is a high-output turbocharged four that is sensitive to oil starvation...) I never really had any major issues with any of mine, but then I'm diligent on maintenance, have a little mechanical sympathy, and at least diagnose the cause of any codes/warning lights before kicking them in the guts... Shouldn't be too hard to find parts - there are loads of them getting around over here in Oz. The sweet spot is the 2015 QV, last one sold with conventional 6sp manual. Thereafter they renamed the QV "Veloce" and it came only with the TCT. Must have classic Alfa Teledial alloys too (as this one does) - its a rule.... the alternative "turbine" rims just don't stack up.

Was thrown by the vision cutting back to show the dash in the driving section at 4:27 - which clearly shows check engine and oil level lights illuminated but no revs or speed - so clearly its not taken while the car was moving ... (That said, its not unheard of for the engine light to be on permanently if certain mods have been made to the cats/exhaust - eg precats deleted... and the ECU hasn't been reprogrammed to trick it into thinking they are still there...)

Meanwhile my "fragile" 23yo GTA is just coming up to 280,000km (and I've seen videos of GTAs in Europe with over 500,000km on them). No idea how many km my GTV has actually done - odo says 80,000 but they top out at 99,999 so it's probably on its 2nd or third time round...
Hmmm I see, thermostat is common on most cars though. I've owned two Mazdas, Legacy, Inspire, and a Polo that needed a thermostat. Again, lower control arm is fairly common. Had to replace one on a couple BMW's I owned.

1750 a strange dispacement? You have to read up AR’s history, on what 1750 means in a AR. 1750 is the magic dispacement in AR’s. I own a 1969 Gt 1300 Junior, that now have a 1750 series 2. Its the perfect combo of torque and power in high revs for a Nord-engine. Mine have been “fiddled” with, but also as original its a great little engine.
I think you're a bit questionable m8. Engine 1750 has it's heritage...fyi the same engine is in 4C. Old alfas had that engine numbering. Built quality is 7/10....the rest is 10/10 with a proper maintenance. Engine is reliable...no worries
Fantastic engine but the TCT while technically superior/stronger than the DSG is voodoo magic to most mechanics and will struggle to repair/ get parts. At least VW have been shit for so long in such great numbers that people have perfected bonging them back together 😂
This is about the limit of a FWD i'd say. Anything above this level of power requires RWD or AWD in my opinion. My civic has the same power as this, and even in second gear im skipping the tyres in a straight line as it reaches maximum boost (currently on 225 width blizzaks). Unless its hot and dry outside, you can't use the power. I'm glad I didnt buy the Type-R.
Nah I'd disagree. This could definitely handle a little more and the Type R puts down power just as well as any AWD car in the dry. Modern LSD tech is amazing. Your 1.5t Civic is open diff on 225's so ofc it'll struggle.
ALFA ... A Loada Fripping Aggravation. Some years ago me and Alfie fell out with each other - after he drained my bank account. So I advertised my Alfa for sale in the local newspaper. A man turned up at my door with bank notes, full asking price. He seemed really nice, not like the several chancers who tried to haggle me down to 2 quid. I felt sorry for the poor fool. I tried to persuade him not to by the Alfa, explaining how much it cost to maintain. He insisted. He's probably living in a cardboard box right now.

Yeah here it's the Kia Rio GT Line, but it's a 1.4T. They're nice looking cars, but definitely more of a "warm" hatch

Yeah ignition was just on accessory mode for that shot haha. No issues when driving even after 200,000km!

1.4 T-Jet is pretty bloody reliable (and tuneable), 1.4 Multiair has a lot of the same issues as the 1.75.
