I loved my childrens birthday parties, something I never had because my mum couldn't afford it. I made cakes with bright icing, a birthday cake decorated with lots of sweets and of course the sandwiches cut at an angle. Jelly and ice cream also. My kids loved their parties
I had exceptionally few as a child and only one as a teenager for my 15th birthday. Money again. The one for my 15th birthday was a gorgeous curry my mum made from scratch with all the trimmings. Precious memories as everyone is gone now 😔 I used to love jelly and ice cream as a treat. It's such a different world now and not always for the better 😔 I'm glad you were able to give your own kids birthday parties 😊
I remember being at a kids party 🎈 🎉 where I had jelly and ice cream 🍨 for the first time…I thought I was in Heaven…I ate so much that I remember my first tummy ache all night!! 😂 😂 I still love it to this day. The only thing is, that I have tasted ‘Trifle’ since then and that’s the Seventh Heaven!!! 😋😇I’m It’s a religious experience…it’s divine!! ✨😅✨ 🙏
I adore this.... its going to keep me making jelly & cream for kids and stay golen soulled ❤❤❤❤ thank you for sharing, sweetheart!!!!!!! @@kathrynbillinghurst188
I was traumatised back in the 1970's at a friend's birthday party, when I bit into a triangle shaped 'sugar sandwich'......bread and butter with granulated sugar on it!😖🤣
We had those terrible birthday parties in the 60s. Hotdogs, cake! Games where someone always ended up crying. Did the same for my kids in the 90s! We did have a few off site parties but not many. Now it's happening with my grandsons! They just had 6 little boys in their house all shouting and tearing around. Then there was crying and complaining like I've never seen before at a party!"wtf! No manners or sense of decorum. Ya, they were 8, but still!
I had great birthday parties as a kid in the 1970s. We didn't do anything fancy, just played Red Rover, Pin the Tail On the Donkey, and ate Sloppy Joes and cake. We opened presents (and everyone got to "bonk" me on the head gently with their present before I opened it). We all ran around in my backyard chasing each other and shrieking for about another hour, and then my mom took everybody home. So simple, but the happy memories have lived on for over 50 years ❤
Aww, this is sad!! My step-dad is a runner in his 60s and is fine. I wonder what makes some people more susceptible to wearing out their joints from running, while others are not affected? Genetics perhaps? Pushing themselves too long and too far because they get addicted to that runner's high? I'm not sure. Well, despite the fact that my step-dad is doing well, I'd still recommend a lower impact exercise regimen for everyone. To me, it is just not worth the risk. Also, best of luck to your brother!! 🤗
me and my best friend are stuck with eachother for 48 years,so nice having someone that knows you like you really are and still want to stick around😂😂😂
My ex sisterinlaw held a first birthday party for her son. Amongst the sandwiches cut into triangles was ONE boiled egg, cut into 5 slices and fanned out on a plate! I no longer speak to her so, I do not know if her birthday party buffets have improved!
All I really got was cake and ice cream or I was taken to a restaurant or the movies. The fancy parties happened at other people's houses. I'm only just now 25.
My sister had a party back in the 60s at the local bowling alley in Camberwell Victoria Australia. It was called the Golden Bowl. Family gathering with about 3 of her friends. She an ICE CREAM CAKE and presents. When my birthday came around....the best thing I remember about was NOTHING. I can't even remember having one.
My three best friends are all gone 😢 I was friends with one of them for 47 years. We had a lot of fun together over the years - and no, we were not related. RIP Fritz, Kip and Richie. I sure miss you guys!

My Mum tried to have a party for me & one person showed up - set the tone for life really - Lone Wolf forever - yeah!
My Brother has been running all his life. Now he needs new knees and hips, and is basically crippledd until the NHS can fit him with them.
