The vulcan bomber and the victor bomber both were brilliant planes back in the day and they are still brilliant jets Long live the vulcan and victor bomber
Never forget the day recently when I was on Carrickfergus promenade and just happened to my head towards the town. Didn't hear anything but there, above the rooftop, was the unmistakable silhouette of XH558. Never to be forgotten.
john johnston When he sees any airplane he says excitedly "hikoki!" (the Japanese word for airplane). But only when he sees the Vulcan he always says in his 2 year old voice "Bulcan". I've got a couple of radio controlled 'foam triangles'.
Everyone should watch this beautiful aircraft being put though her paces at RIAT. What a fantastic sight and sound. She must be kept airworthy for our grandchildren to watch in awe.
A brilliiant video of the Delta Lady and thanks for posting, the wing modifications will extend her life but unfortunately its the life remaining on the Olympus engines that will eventually ground her.
What a fantastic display with a fantastic aeroplane! That Vulcan 'howl' is unbelievable! ....and addictive. .....I love to see this machine..its beautiful and the sounds are great.....so manoeuvrable too. I hope it comes back to Manston this year! Fantastic!
AWESOME plane .. should not decommissioned .. seen her live at Biggin Hill .. just totally amazing. Should put more money into our defence and RAF .. Thank you for this clip on you tube x
I remember the first time I ever saw this type of aircraft. It was featured very prominently in an otherwise unremarkable James Bond film called Thunderball. What a fascinating aircraft!
The only girl to have a serious attitude when flying and landing and the only aircraft to actually bring people together when she really needs them the most she is the best of Britain's past and future and there is nothing that can take her place as the girl who touches so many people's hearts in the air and one the ground and the most popular aircraft in the UK she is the spirt of Great Britain and no other aircraft can take that title from her well done xh558 you've done everyone proud
I know what you mean. I was there, and I just stopped and watched it fly off and realised I'd never see it flying again. It may sound weird but I got kind of emotional because its just such a good plane.
Yes i know what you mean, I may only be 15, but I certainly got emotional at RIAT. I only do RIAT at fairford due to it being a long drive anyway.Hope the shows go well for you! :)
Wow, the Vulcan has to be one of the coolest planes ever made! The only other plane that gives me tingles like the Vulcan is the F-14. Both are amazing. Absolutely love it, great vid!
After blackpool it did a display at elvinton then went to ireland for an airshow , it was supposed to come to elvington again the next day but was called off due to strong winds
Just had to be at fairford RIAT to say "Goodbye" to this most beautiful icon and legend. She flew straight over my head, while stood on my car roof! lol Escorted by the Red Arrow team it was spectacular two hours earlier than sceduled, which was a crap thing as many arriving late just to see Volcan fly a last time missed it! Not me though :D
+Arnaldo Almeida that wouldn't go down well as Richard said, Vulcans were used against Argentina in the Falklands War... Look at what happened to Top gear when Argentineans thought a license place was referring to the war...
Don't you just wish sometimes that these commentators would just shut up and let you just marvel and great aircraft like these! Sean Maffett is a great commentator and widely regarded as are many other airshow commentators around the world. But please sometimes when in the presence of purely iconic aircraft as the vulcan, Red Arrows etc a non commentary display would be pleasing.
According to the book Vulcan 607, my cousin Martin Withers who flew the first Black Buck Mission to bomb Port Stanley. Flew a Vulcan bomber down the Grand Canyon, with the co pilot taking pictures of the viewing pictures above the aircraft
Play your cards right and put your hand in your pocket, and the Vulcan could be joined by the Victor. Now there's a sight worth paying for! And lest we forget, the first of the V bombers was the Valiant. What an experience seeing all three flying together would be!
It's sad isn't it? But if you want to see the real thing - albeit static - go to the RAF Museum at Cosford (where they have all three - indoors) -, nr Wolverhampton (it's just off the M54 and admission is free, as is parking. Bruntingthorpe airfield has a Victor they taxi at fairly high speed. As for the others, I can't help you I'm afraid, You'll probably be reduced to watching videos on You Tube!
Seeing the three V bombers in a vic was not that interesting. Not as good as touching a Spitfire or having an F84F pilot do an outstanding promised low level run after his departure for two schoolboys on an empty crowd line.He must have gone out as far as Caistor before running in hot and so low the first thing we saw was his fin. Can you imagine that happening at Waddington today?
realomon It has nothing to do with the size or the sound; the stealth ability is given from the material the aircraft's skin is made of. It absorbs all of the sonar waves that are sent out, telling the transmitter there is nothing there. It's called research, fool.
DanknugZ oh yeah, its called reaserch indeed, stealth technology is hugely exaggerated. It is there mostly to drain money from the congress and attack 3rd world countries. Russian long wave lenght radar can see stealth, so its fking pointless. try again, idiot.
Great. Vid but I always hate the typical airshow commentary, "blah blah oh yes it's piloted by Peter rovers and he got red socks on " shut up. Let us hear the engines
22fret Simply put, the companies that have been supporting her airframe work for the last few years are backing off. Probably concerned that her frame is way past its original expected retirement date - and don't want to be associated with it if the frame catastrophically failed.
I don't know more than that, but I'd assume they've explored everything they can to keep her going. I don't think it was a money issue, just a "We literally think this thing is reaching the end of it's life and it would be dangerous to keep stressing the airframe." one.
Vie Ventar The companies that have provided the maintenance support for 558 are backing off for no other reason than the people that help maintain and service her, are retiring or have retired. These people are ex Royal Air Force who serviced the Vulcan during it's service life and now the civilian companies that employed these people no longer have the technical expertise to support the aircraft. Companies such as Marshalls, BAe Systems and others are ploughing their efforts into supporting the active military hardware that is currently being used by the British Armed Forces.
Vie Ventar Someone needs to make a petition to take her on a tour next year somehow, or to fly her at RIAT 2016. There has t be a way to keep her in the air.
there was no "valcan howl in this vid only normal jet sound this plane has a sound that is monumental but only heard from directly in front its the sound of the air passing a crossed the intake ports of the engines just like blowing a crossed a bottle once heard you will never forget heard them in the mid 70 at Farnsworth air show with my dad
for those wondering about its retirement. somewhere in the middle the pertuberance(aka the commentator) referee that it was due to a wing having reached its life cycle end and its replacement and airworthiness certification being too costly. way too costly as it means rebuilding 1/2 the plane from scratch.
If you've ever seen it fly, you'll NEVER forget it. Very few aircraft, you can say that about. Truly magnificent.
Much faster takeoff than I expected and more maneuverable than expected!
The vulcan bomber and the victor bomber both were brilliant planes back in the day and they are still brilliant jets
Long live the vulcan and victor bomber
The most beutiful aircraft of A ll time ,seen lovely vulcan xh-558 six times at fairford airshow ☺
Like a homesick angel!
We were truly -blessed to have her over here for our Chicago Air Show...1980s...
England at it VERY BEST!
Huh-RAH!
who would ever think the 2.00 pm tea sippers could ever put together such a beast ....thank u brits for this absolute beast
Never forget the day recently when I was on Carrickfergus promenade and just happened to my head towards the town. Didn't hear anything but there, above the rooftop, was the unmistakable silhouette of XH558. Never to be forgotten.
I was thinking the same. One of the most impressive displays I've ever seen..Thanks for checking it out. Glad you like it.
Good grief she's beautiful. I never tire of watching her and she never fails to impress me.
Brilliant. Saw her at Headcorn. Awesome.
This American's favorite jet airplanes ever are the Vulcan and Tomcat.
My 2 year old son even knows a Vulcan when he sees it. That's my boy.
john johnston
When he sees any airplane he says excitedly "hikoki!" (the Japanese word for airplane). But only when he sees the Vulcan he always says in his 2 year old voice "Bulcan". I've got a couple of radio controlled 'foam triangles'.
but this plane is british
That’s a British v bomber not American
Hopefully not! I have seen the Vulcan for the first time. That howl... One got to love it!
Glad you like the video!
The landing roll is amazing. That's a sh*t ton of lift!
Awesome! I recall seeing these back in the late 1950's-early 1960's
Yes and a very tremendous sound!
Thanks! Glad you like it!
Definitely not the last display ever! Certainly the best I have ever seen. Kev rocks :)
Magnificent aircraft both visually and audibly. So sad that we won't see it flying again, but we were privileged to see its return to the skies.
Brilliant footage ,,,,, outstanding well done and thanks for sharing
I'm glad the Vulcan is on our side because it sure frightens the shit out of me as is flies over!
Everyone should watch this beautiful aircraft being put though her paces at RIAT. What a fantastic sight and sound.
She must be kept airworthy for our grandchildren to watch in awe.
What a Stunning beast! LUVIT!
Great british airplane .cheers from France 👍
A brilliiant video of the Delta Lady and thanks for posting, the wing modifications will extend her life but unfortunately its the life remaining on the Olympus engines that will eventually ground her.
AWESOME !
If you had to draw and make the noise of a nuclear deterrent, the Vulcan just about nailed it on both counts
what a beauty she is!
What a fantastic display with a fantastic aeroplane!
That Vulcan 'howl' is unbelievable! ....and addictive.
.....I love to see this machine..its beautiful and the sounds are great.....so manoeuvrable too.
I hope it comes back to Manston this year!
Fantastic!
Holy crap this plane reminds me of the Canadian built Avro Arrow and TSR2 from the 50's and 60's.
The Arrow was first
It will remind you because avro Canada was named after avro that made avro Lancaster and Avro Vulcan
AWESOME plane .. should not decommissioned .. seen her live at Biggin Hill .. just totally amazing. Should put more money into our defence and RAF .. Thank you for this clip on you tube x
Excellent!
Let's hope it'll stay airborne until at least 2015. Glad you like the video!
one word RESPECT
Has the same howl as the U-2. Pretty cool.
Thank you very much! Glad you enjoyed the video! What a pity it would be if she really gets grounded.
I remember the first time I ever saw this type of aircraft. It was featured very prominently in an otherwise unremarkable James Bond film called Thunderball. What a fascinating aircraft!

If this really is her last flight and I hope not then this is such an important video. Thanks for posting
Great plane!
Just seen this at RIAT 2015, hit me like a brick when I realised I'd never see it again.
I know what you mean. I was there, and I just stopped and watched it fly off and realised I'd never see it flying again. It may sound weird but I got kind of emotional because its just such a good plane.
+Meteor Shower Sorry, Shes's such a good plane.
Yes i know what you mean, I may only be 15, but I certainly got emotional at RIAT. I only do RIAT at fairford due to it being a long drive anyway.Hope the shows go well for you! :)
She is occasionally bumbling around Lincolnshire right now, I saw her fly twice last week, though briefly
Ohh well that's a shame, were you going to see her any other time?
It is technically possible to extend XH558's flying life. But so far nothing is safe.
Wow, the Vulcan has to be one of the coolest planes ever made! The only other plane that gives me tingles like the Vulcan is the F-14. Both are amazing. Absolutely love it, great vid!
Thanks! Glad you like this video!
My favorites; sr71 Blackbird, and A10 Warthog
+ukkowalski the victor looks like aliens designed it for batman!
uhm comparing an f14 to vulcan?????? uhm. nothing to say.
Oh good; if nothing to say go ahead and delete your comment. Thanks.
Beautiful old girl, that howl actually sends shivers down my spine.
God i miss that sight & sound
Oh no :( sorry to hear that. I'm glad I could bring it to your screen then!
After blackpool it did a display at elvinton then went to ireland for an airshow , it was supposed to come to elvington again the next day but was called off due to strong winds
First saw the Vulcan about 1960 in Goose Bay Labrador while serving with the USAF. Had never seen anything like it.
I saw it the first time in the James Bond movie Thunderball.
Interesting! Saw one at Chicago in an air show 1970...motivated me to join USAF
Lemme hear ya howwwl!
that landing. Outstanding
Yes. Bleeding out every bit of airspeed.
Great vid man
This was definitely not the last Vulcan flight as it came to blackpool air show
the best bomber ever made
She will will fly again, confirmed for 2015 RIAT........YAY, I'm going!!
Just had to be at fairford RIAT to say "Goodbye" to this most beautiful icon and legend. She flew straight over my head, while stood on my car roof! lol Escorted by the Red Arrow team it was spectacular two hours earlier than sceduled, which was a crap thing as many arriving late just to see Volcan fly a last time missed it! excellent video my camcorder ran out of space on the card as she started her display.
Always thought the Rolls Royce Conway was loud, the Olympus is louder !
Is the tail close enough to the tarmac at 9:15, great control and a nice video.
What a fantastic British aircraft,,,,missed at airshows now,,,,,,,
The Vulcan the greatest RAF restoration ever
The fucking! What is this refrigerator with wings?
I apologise to anyone who didn’t get to see this fly
I so glad that I did
I now need a cure for goosebumps on my goosebumps .... !
Best plane ever
Does the pilot ground the rear of the plane very briefly at 9:13 ?
Not the last, its flying at Sunderland Airshow this coming sunday
Pretty DAM sure this is the bomber Batman would fly!
Is this the aircraft coming to Dublin for a fly by mid September? Cannot wait if so - one of my favourites, sinister and beautiful
Send to Argentine plz, from Brazil with luv.
+Arnaldo Almeida that wouldn't go down well as Richard said, Vulcans were used against Argentina in the Falklands War... Look at what happened to Top gear when Argentineans thought a license place was referring to the war...
Erm- we did, in 1982.
God it is good to be British......why oh why do people take it for granted ?...........
+Robert Parkes Sadly there is nothing British about Britain any more! That is why.
why would it be good to be from little britain?
Because it is that's why and 1000s come here to live each year so it must be good.
its CANADIAN,you arrogant moron.

tomcatter11 Agree, he's completely spoiled the experience and video.
Absolutely....agree totally. Spoiled by that silly man wittering on...
Top Show... Awesome...
Wow that is enormous :S
We keep
We kept the peace ✌
✌👍
The sound of that thing in the falklands must of been horrific ....run away.
Still a real monster!
According to the book Vulcan 607, my cousin Martin Withers who flew the first Black Buck Mission to bomb Port Stanley. Flew a Vulcan bomber down the Grand Canyon, with the co pilot taking pictures of the viewing pictures above the aircraft
The undisputed "Thunder God"
Best climb out
top Video...!!!
On which day/s have you been there?
The best ever aircraft British aircraft
Truly a legend. That legendary howling sound 😍

But a boy can always dream, can't he? I've been dreaming for almost seven decades and it's never done me any harm.
It's sad isn't it? "БЕЛОГО ЛЕБЕДЯ" вам хватит за глаза:-D
Hard to believe it's a sixty-year-old design to look at it.
Please find Ashley in this picture pls
You hit us, and wow, take this
25 Argentinians dislike this video
Who do you mean by Ashley?
We totally did theme
Gg dave
Refilled at blackpool as well
whats the idea behind the shape of this aircraft?
stealth
sure..... by the loudness of it it is as stealthy as a train....
realomon It has nothing to do with the size or the sound; the stealth ability is given from the material the aircraft's skin is made of. It absorbs all of the sonar waves that are sent out, telling the transmitter there is nothing there. It's called research, fool.

How many flying Vulcans are there?
One.
Steve Brewer Oh ,wow. I've seen so many videos. It seems like there are a lot.
Sadly not - XH558 is the one and only airworthy example, and next year will almost certainly be her last in the air.
Steve Brewer That's a shame.
A.J. C. indeed
daayummm
Great. Vid but I always hate the typical airshow commentary, "blah blah oh yes it's piloted by Peter rovers and he got red socks on " shut up. Let us hear the engines
The engines sound just like any other jet engine haha
Karl XIV Johan Not at all
It might have been one of the last because if not enough money is gathered the replacement parts can not be bought. Main problem is fatigue life..
I was there
whispering giant .. nice
What's wrong with XH558? Why is 2015 going be her last year? She seems in perfectly good shape...
22fret Simply put, the companies that have been supporting her airframe work for the last few years are backing off. Probably concerned that her frame is way past its original expected retirement date - and don't want to be associated with it if the frame catastrophically failed.
That's a bloody shame. Are there no other possibilities of keeping her airworthy? I admit, it must be quite expensive to maintain such an aircraft...
I don't know more than that, but I'd assume they've explored everything they can to keep her going.
I don't think it was a money issue, just a "We literally think this thing is reaching the end of it's life and it would be dangerous to keep stressing the airframe." one.
