  • Another capture using the same technique. The camera inexplicably failed at the end of this capture, only to recover fully the next day!

These are great thank you. What type of hardware/software would be needed to resolve these objects in higher resolution?

Software called Davinci Resolve. The free version is fantastic.

Hi Jim, thanks for posting! Do you think it could be a satellite in geosynchronous orbit?

A satellite is an object not bigger than a dinner table. We don't need to be engineers to figure out that it is absolutely imposible to see such a small object orbiting the earth at hundreds of kilometers of altitude. Think of this: a commercial airplane flies at mere 10 kms of altitude and it is not easy to spot from the ground. An airplane that's 70 or more meters long, with a body big enough to accommodate hundreds of passengers and luggage. The object in this video must be very big to be seen from the ground with the naked eye. Definitely not a satellite. That amount of light cannot be generated by solar panels.

Could it be a meteor falling at an angle directly toward the camera? Giving an illusion of slight movement then disappearance (burning up)?

I see a lot of meteors in the many hours of footage I look at. They are very bright and very fast. A typical meteor crosses the FOV in less than a second and is much brighter than the other visible objects. This object is visible for much longer than that and it is no brighter than an average star. If the meteor was oriented as you suggest, it would have to be pointed directly at the camera. A meteor big enough not to burn up in 5 seconds would be very bright indeed.
It would also probably be big enough to leave a trail and to make noise.
