Great review! I have a Thule and hopefully in two weeks my GOBI will arrive. I went with the Ranger GOBI and also 60" rails so I can put the Thule and a Kayak on my 4Runner, hopefully. I'll probably do a review sometime down the road mainly because I haven't seen one done on the Ranger GOBI rack. Happy trails!
Well, silly me, while I have little or no interest in these products, I was happy just to see you, lol. My interest, besides you, is when you're having Basecamp adventures. I've said it many times, if I were younger, I'd be living that life! Thanks and have a great 2022! .......standing by for more Basecamp adventures......
Thanks George wish you the best in 2022 as well! I'm currently recovering from a cold. Hoping to head out in the Basecamp in a week, so there will be more soon!
Thanks Kathy! And not quite yet. I am going to do some mods on it, but I first want to take it out as is, then put the truck camper on it and weigh everything to see how much extra weight I can add.
That is the thing about the gas mileage on the 4runner and taco, if you mod them at all, you may as well get a 3/4 ton. I get 13 out of my power wagon on 37s. Still love Toyota tho :)
Awesome review! Your 4Runner looks rad. Did you actually already get the Tundra? Looking forward to future vids of the Tundra set up. Stay safe and keep up the vids.
I own SR5 and miss 4x4 that keeps me off Off-road real fun life. Been debating between TRD off road 4runner or Tundra TRD. Looking forward to hear your though process. I want to hit more trails moving forward but heard most of the trails don't allow trucks as they are wide enough, just a thought setting me off.
I have an older model of that Thule that got smashed when a garage attendant it the ceiling when parking my car 😡 Apparently, there is a tiny sign that states the company is not responsible for any damages... Total drag because I was leaving for a trip to Florida from NYC the next day and had to find another one quickly. It really does add lots of extra cargo space especially for things like beach umbrellas and chairs, keeping all the sandy stuff out of the car. Looking forward to your next big adventure... Keep it coming! If I had it all to do over again, I would live like you are 😊
Hi there. Great info here and very well made video! Even though your setup is quite different now, I'm hopping you can give me good advice from experience. I have a Toyota Sequoia with Gobi Stealth and I am looking for the right Thule box that will give me enough room for 2 Thule bike racks and won't cover the sunroof entirely. Am I asking for too much? Safe travels!
Going back in memory here but let's see! I believe it's called an "alpine" Thule box, which is the more narrow version. That may give you enough room to have the Thule on one side and bike rack on the other. Just make sure when you take measurements there's enough room to open the Thule since it pushes up and to the side.
Well done videos! Thank you. Hoping to some day do what you're doing here with the 4Runner. Question: how well does the 4Runner handle with the Basecamp? I guess what I mean is, obviously the 4Runner can handle it since you were doing it, but is it borderline or comfortable? I'd really prefer the 4Runner over the bigger trucks. Thanks again.
I have a video on towing with the 4Runner. I’d recommend watching it. I towed 3+ years with the 4Runner, but do have to say towing it with the Tundra was so much easier.
How is the wind noise with the rack, and also rack and thule? I have the large thule on factory roof bars. Looking at the gobi too. Disregard I just finished your video
I would expect once the rack left the factory/ warehouse, they have noting else.to do with the shipment. Thus, they have no idea where the shipment is. 😳
Another great video you are such a good resource for people
Really appreciate that Mike, thanks!
Well done videos. Explained throughly in all areas. Enjoy and learn each time. Love the kids…what a great life they get to experience
Thanks Dave, really appreciate that!
Thanks for the review and tips for install requirements (like two people). Love the Tundra. This set up would be my dream. So versatile.
It was definitely quite versatile! Thanks for watching!
Hope you feel better soon. Safe travels
Thank you Ed!
Can't wait to see the Tundra/Camper remodel video's this one was very informative!!
Thanks Dave!!
Hey Cass, this was a really helpful video. I love love love your 4Runner and am excited to see how you’ll outfit your Tundra.
Thanks Jason! Really glad you enjoyed it, and appreciate you watching!

That would be great and probably help a lot of others. Hope you enjoy the Gobi!!

YOU ARE GOING TO LOVE THE TUNDRA. I HAVE HAD 3 OF THEM AND WOULD BUY NO OTHER PICKUP.
That's so good to hear!!
Nice send off of your 4Runner. Can't wait to see your videos on the new truck.
Thanks Carl! I have a couple more 4Runenr ones coming, and then there will be more on the new truck. Appreciate you watching!
I noticed Zion in your pics, one of my favourite places to visit ever!
You have good taste! It's such a beautiful area.
Thanks for sharing this video,t interesting product
You are welcome, appreciate you watching Mark!
Great video
Thanks Mike!
Great Video. Do love the over all look you created with the accessories. Any ideas on how you’re going outfit the Tundra?

Yea, the mpg is definitely not the best. If 3/4 prices ever come down, I may head that route. Thanks for watching Jake!
Great personal review. Until next time.... Travel Safe
Thank you! Appreciate you watching!
great unbiased review.
Thank you! Appreciate you watching!
Pretty detailed 👌 👍 😄 review. Love ❤️ the Toyota 4Runner. The quality of the roof rack is key.
Thanks for watching!

I did! Picked up the Tundra about a week ago. I'll have a video on it in a few weeks.

I'll be interested if I run into any issues with the new Tundra on the trails. I'll be sure to post about it if I do. Thanks for watching!
@@TailsofWanderlust thanks love our content
Thank you!
😀😀 We get Thule in the UK. Awesome kit.
Thank you! Appreciate you watching!
Thanks for the video

@James Bond I meant the garage company should take some responsibility for the damage, not Thule.

Which is the new Thule? XT Sport or??
Does it completely block out the moonroof? :(
14mpg is not bad with all that gear
Positive thinking, I like it!
How is the wind noise with the rack, and also rack and thule?
I have the large thule on factory roof bars. Looking at the gobi too.
Disregard I just finished your video
Thanks for watching!
Stupid question - is the ladder detachable so you can open the tailgate?
It attaches to the tailgate, so when you lift it up, the ladder goes with it
What Thule is that? You did not mention it at all other than it was the alpine version
They don't make the model I had anymore, but this is the newer version: amzn.to/3RmgenY
Hi Cass, I'm curious what kind of typical mileage you got when towing the BaseCamp with the 4Runner?
Hi Mark - I averaged around 9mpg when towing.
Could you please measure the height of the rack? That’s the one I’m getting and don’t know if it will fit in my garage.
Unfortunately I sold the truck so can’t measure it anymore
All dimensions are on the Gobi website...
Good review. I can always depend on you that you do extensive research! 😁
Thanks Linda!!
Yay!
Thank you! Appreciate you watching!
I suppose that you will shed a few tears when you say good buy to the 4 runner. You have a lot of memories stored up.
Absolutely! It was such a great truck
I would expect once the rack left the factory/ warehouse, they have noting else.to do with the shipment. Thus, they have no idea where the shipment is. 😳
Reaching out to customer service was all pre-shipment, since it takes 12-14 weeks before it even leaves their warehouse.
Awesome video. Any plans to do rving in Canada. I know u got ur truck camper here 😁
I hope so! If timing works out, I plan to head to Alaska in the summer and take a couple of weeks to explore Canada on the way
every go here for more details
Thanks for watching!
$1600 dollars too rich for my blood
Nice part is when I sold it, made most of that back
