Welcome to our humble corner of UA-cam, where my wife Merran and I hope you'll sing to the Lord with us. This is a little different for us. . .
This is the first time we have made a video for A Hymn For Today without filming ourselves. We wondered if it could be helpful for any small churches out there that might like to use this if they are short on singers. So it's something of an experiment, but we hope it's a blessing.
We present to you a simple lyric video designed for congregational singing, featuring the timeless hymn "All Creatures that on Earth do Dwell," written by Thomas Kethe. The tune may have been originally composed by Louis Bourgeo, both in the 1500s.
"All people that on earth do dwell, sing to the Lord with cheerful voice." These words remind us to come together in joyful unity, offering our praise and service to the Almighty with reverence and gratitude.
"Know that the Lord is God indeed; Without our aid He did us make." We are reminded of our place as part of God's creation, cherished and cared for like a shepherd tending to his flock.
All people that on earth do dwell,
sing to the Lord with cheerful voice.
Him serve with fear, His praise forth tell,
Come ye before Him and rejoice!
Know that the Lord is God indeed;
Without our aide He did us make.
We are the flock, He doth us feed,
And for His sheep He doth us take.
O enter then his gates with praise,
Approach with joy His courts unto;
Praise, Laud, and bless His name always,
For it is seemly so to do.
For why? the Lord our God is good,
His mercy is forever sure.
His truth at all times firmly stood
And shall from age to age endure.
