      Stephen Parkinson,
Did John Barnes speak out and condemn Ian Wright,
ex-Footballer, now commentator of BBC Radio 5, when he racially abused that Nigerian traffic warden for issuing him parking ticket a few years ago, it was shown on the TV news at the time ?
If not why the double standard ?

    • @starbwoy133

@@timsmith2279 oh here we go!!! So Ian Wright abused a traffic warden and so what? What baring does that have on the issue raised by John Barnes? Absolutely nothing.
See this is what really pisses myself and other groups of ethnic minorities off......90% of white people will NEVER understand what its like to feel covert racism.
Stop trying to deflect Mr Smith and absorb the information John Barnes has beautifully explained 👌🏾 I suggest you watch Ian Wrights programme "out of their skin" my fellow black brothers had to put up with some wicked f**krie back in the day! Educate yourself and don't waste my time mentioning petty incidents which have no baring on the wider racist issues raised in this interview.

    • @jordanosborne6610

@@timsmith2279 John Barnes addressed racial issues in his words "holistically" which means he would not approve of Ian Wrights incident with the warden. BARING IN MIND that the Wright incident wasn't "racial" it was discriminatory based on Nationality. BUT John Barnes did also address discrimination refering to LGBT and Women Equality...... John Barnes doesn't need to reference every single racial/discriminatory incident that has ever happened. He was on the show to share his thoughts which he did very concisely and clearly. STOP REACHING and STOP TRYING TO DEFLECT an STOP TRYING TO DISCREDIT what was said by John Barnes. :)

Opus British prejudice is the most sophisticated in the world. It isn’t obvious like USA or mainland Europe. It is about racial exclusion, racial bias and stereotyping. That is why in London a city that is 49% non-white in a country where minorities outperform white people of the same social class in education, any industry where money or power is gained like politics, media and finance the industry is 99% white and not a reflection of the diversity of the UK or London.

    • @mondingo67
      @mondingo67 5 років тому +1

@David David so according to you that in housing, employment, tv and sport management white people are being discriminated against? But this doesn't seem to be the case as in the vast majority of cases you mentioned the people working there are mostly white. If white people were being discriminated that bad in their own country don't you think your beloved newspapers such as the Sun and The Daily Mail would have been highlighting the so called anti white element by now? You need to stop manufacturing faux outrage and get real.

@David David I am not convinced that that white people are being greatly discriminated against in their own country as if you look around all the institutions there are at least 90 percent white. But if you have evidence of anti white discrimination please get in touch with the papers or better still take upon yourself to rectify this "blatant anti white" sentiment in the UK. Keep me posted of the progress regarding this noble cause you are fighting.😄

Now this is what is called a logical fallacy, just because there are some racists among football fans, that means that society as a whole must be racist? give me a break! There isn't a single right which is afforded to white people that isn't afforded to any other minority group. Every community discriminates against other communities, it's an unfortunate fact in the way way our multicultural society has compartmentalized different cultures/races. and we're listening to millionaires who claim how much they've been discriminated against.....

The point i'm making is blk sports ppl have and do go through racism in the game but stay quiet to protect their career. Thats why Ali was so great and Eniola Aluko should get massive props for standing up with so much to loose. The fight goes on.

I am the average black man in the street!!. And i totally agree with what John Barnes is saying to get to the root of the problem i would start educating the children in schools from a very young age. Because it's a family values and a culture divide. But if it is talked about and explain to children that (Racism) is wrong. Then it can help educate a whole new generation which will then filter through the generations to come. Listen it's not a over night process, but it's a process and untill we start to really get stuck in as a society to tackle this problem it will just continue to polute our world we live inn. We need to start dealing with the solution and stop focusing on the problem because we know sooooo much about that side of it already.

As a young man I saw John Barnes came on the pitch for England in 86 World Cup in the 75th minute and played the most sizzling 15 mins of football ever. That was his only appearance in the tournament rite up there with Diego Maradona. Everyone in Jamaica knew it’s because he was black y he wasn’t a main feature. Can’t say if John spoke out about it then but i saw Defoe and Bent got treated unfairly in later years. Some pundits tried to skin Stealing alive in this years World Cup thanks to Ian Wright he stop them in there tracks. And They butchered Mario Balotellis Career at City so it’s not just the fans.. Good one Raheem for not taking it quietly you spoke for future players as well.👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿

I absolutely loved what he said about the average everyday person. It’s something I feel very strongly about. How symbolism at the top shouldn’t be taken too seriously and we shouldn’t get too excited about seeing Beyoncé and Obama and Denzel because these super talented fortunate people are the absolute exception. The real median life of the average black man or woman in society is very different and they deal with shit constantly

I am impressed, a legendary English footballer expounds the experience of minorities suffering prejudice in society in a very articulate, insightful and lucid way. Even civil rights leaders often faff around and fail to express the struggle of their fellow man so clearly. Barnes is gifted, and way beyond his talented twinkle toes.

Barnes is a legend. We won't fix this until we root it out of society altogether. Everything else is just tackling the symptoms and not the root cause.

John Barnes putting the argument on the right path and on a whole different level, I think many of us would like to listen to him for more than 8 minutes on this subject .

As black man I have realised long time ago that I am living in the country of my slaves masters. These people brought and sold us in the millions over a 400 year period, I am not expecting them to change in 50 years.

I always say to black people that don't like white countries that they can move somewhere else. Not being racist, I'm from England and I up and left myself, so.

john barnes thru all the racism he endured in his playing career i got the feeling he just soft soaped it and behaved like it did not matter having bannana thrown at you everytime he set foot on the pitch, i was disapointed he said next to nothing during his career
