What a great and positive message, Zach! I remember being told once that you couldn’t call yourself a photographer unless you were paid for your work. I don’t believe that at all! Never let someone else’s label define you! ✌🏼
We seem to have a lot in common. I started around 5 years ago as well and became obsessed with the artform, and obsessed with improving (even though I had 0 thoughts I could actually make a career out of it). Fast forward and now I'm shooting for major motion pictures, like what!? I still can't believe it. Dream the dreams and work hard because life can take you in interesting directions with the right attitude and willingness.
OMG wow that is amazing! I'm definitely not there yet lol, but thinking about where I started vs. now is really something. Totally agree with you on the sentiment here. Thanks so much for watching! :)
Thank you for the positive reinforcement. I have personally experienced the negative comments, specifically from a film photographer (I shoot digital). I agree 100% that anybody who picks up a camera is a photographer. My journey is now in its 10th year. While I continue to see improvement, there is still much to learn and even more to put into practice! I really enjoy especially the calm and straight forward delivery. Thank you again!
Was at Margerum Wine last night and I’m pretty sure I saw you there with a couple. Wanted to say hi but didn’t want to intrude. Hope all is well and to see you at a more interruptible moment around town in the future.
I believe that over the past 30 years, about since the 90's up to this day, photography has changed - and it has changed drastically. Today, anyone and everyone can be a photographer... However I strongly believe that nowadays, the label of the person calling themselves a photographer is separated into 2 groups and 2 subgroups. The two groups being; A. Photographers and B. Professional Photographers - and the two subgroups being; A. Photographers who create images and B. Photographers who create art. Everyone can be a photographer, not everyone can create art - in fact, rarely anyone can create art when it comes to photography. It takes a special kind of individual to do that and not everyone is special. This ''everyone is a winner'' mindset is what is the REAL problem.
