Saliva testing for Cortisol is recommended. Normal values for a blood sample taken at 8 in the morning are 5 to 25 mcg/dL or 140 to 690 nmol/L. Normal values depend on the time of day and the clinical context. Normal ranges may vary slightly among different laboratories. What were the measured label?

Can low cortisol cause weight gain instead? I found my cortisol is very low when tested in the morning. I have high inflammation, and low testosterone. Not sure if that's related at all. If I take Ashwaganda it makes me feel terrible, I have insomnia all night like my body is asleep and my mind is racing. I have taken it 3 times, different brands, same thing happens. I have been trying to fix this my whole life. Lots of different naturopaths Drs so on. Why would Ashwaganda do this? Magnesium does it sometimes too. Vit D which I am low in I cannot take because this also has opposite effect on me and if I take it, no matter how low, I just want to sleep to the point that I can't get out of bed and brain fog goes through the roof. Hi!! This is awesome. hmm do you have any idea if the corticosteriod affects my adrenaline?! does it decrease or increase my cortisol? I was taking 50mg of prednisone for almost three weeks and I had nasal spray (corticosteriod for almost two weeks 25mg two puffs each nostrils) I started to feel weird after 5days taking this meds. And stop it with out tapering the meds. And after two days after collapsing the doctor prescribed it to me again. Becuse of my sinusitis. Though my lab test are all normal. I finished my three weeks taking the meds. Even while using it i did have the feeling of side effects and eventually going back and forth to the hospitals cause I'm having numbness and feeling of shortness of breath and most of the time I have the feeling of shaking inside of my body and whn I finally stop it . That's when I started to feel much worst effects. It's very scary and now I'm having nervous breakdown. I'm kinda worried cause I have anxiety attacks and having bowel problems and feeling bloated all the time. And I can't help to think negatively because before I always roaming around alone and doing everything I want. Now I'm afraid to do so. I'm having panic attacks when it's dark. I usually feel worst when the nigh comes. I felt like i have trauma. It really affects my daily life and my job. But I'm trying to fight along with this. Though it's really really hard. That even doctors telling me to just stay calm and don't overthinking . But when I'm having nervous I can't help it but to think negatively and I hate it that way. Anyway how long it will take before my andrenaline gets back to normal? Or does it not going back to normal? Any random things that I can do or foods to eat so it will back to normal soon. I don't want to take anymedicines anymore.

Cortisol is naturally higher in the morning. The adrenal fatigue theory suggests that prolonged exposure to stress could drain the adrenals leading to a low cortisol state. The adrenal depletion would cause brain fog, low energy, depressive mood, salt and sweet cravings, lightheadedness, and other vague symptoms. Are you 'drained'?
