    I used Sibelius almost 20 years ago and it took a lot of frustrating work to figure out the basics. I've since forgotten, and your tutorial reminded me of the bajillion tabs and shortcuts I never mastered. I would love a slow and basic review, as my brain is not as fast as it used to be. Thank you for putting out these videos! They are a terrific resource!

    another person mentioned that you should show the screen full-sized. That's a good suggestion. I will add that I think you should start with something simple, not in an odd time, and not with unusual instruments. Pick something we can all relate to. I get that you want to show us that "anything's possible" but since you are clearly really good at this, your "for beginners" video should really be "for beginners". I hope that you'll do more because I can see that you're very good at this and could make even better "beginner" videos.

    Hey Horn Hippie, I've been using Sibelius for
    several years, so I do know the basics. You
    can answer my question with an outline of
    the steps of what I need to do.
    You mentioned "don't get me started on capos",
    which of course is what I need to do. I have a
    piece for flute and finger-style guitar where the
    guitar needs to play with a capo on the 5th fret.
    I need to transpose the flute part up a 4th to
    make this work. How do I get Sibelius to play this
    back as it should sound?
    I am currently running Sibelius Ultimate 2023.6 Build 2480 on my MacBook Pro running macOS Ventura 13.5.
    Thanks

      The easiest way is to notate what you know for the guitar, write in stave text indicating the capo use and ignore playback…but it sounds like you need this plugin: www.sibelius.com/download/plugins/index.html?plugin=542 I haven’t experimented with it yet, but lmk if this works!

    Hey thanks for the video it was really helpful. I was wondering do you know if I can add distortion to a guitar in Sibelius? Couldn't seem to work my head around that.

    • @HornHippieMedia

      I know this is super late, but have you tried writing “distort” above the music with technique text? (Command+E) above the note u want it to start?

    You’re such a pro! I’m currently using Musescore, and I’m wondering if you think Sibelius would be a big improvement? Thanks!

      Jake Hanegan JAAAAKE!! Haha thx man! Tbh, I think Sibelius has more functionality, and I find musescore really frustrating... I would def recommend switching👍

    I had my first try this afternoon. Playing from my midi synth. But the problem is the delay in recording and play-back. The sound comes later out of sibelius than what I play. Any solutions for that ?

    It would be a tremendous help, if you had Sibelius fill the desktop, and then we could read all the menu items (full screen starts to pixelate)

    Question. When you add a dynamic mark, such as "ppp", does that actually change the velocity of the notes at that point?...or is the "ppp" purely ornamental, like lyrics?

    • @HornHippieMedia
      @HornHippieMedia 3 роки тому

      That is correct, triple-p and triple-f are purely ornamental as far as playback in Sibelius is concerned

    • @toonytouchstone
      @toonytouchstone 3 роки тому +1

      Thank you! Is the same true of Crescendo and Decrescendo marks? Are they also purely ornamental?
