The part where he's knocking it against the table never fails to make me laugh :)
It’s because it leads onto possibly the greatest song about lumberjacks that has every been written. I would quote it here, but I don’t want to spoil it for you
No, stop that, this is becoming silly.
It's relevant because it directly transitions into a lumberjack sketch (with song). As with many MP sketches, this morphs into the next one.
I love how he shouts hello to it then throws it on the floor 🤣🤣
Oh yes, throw him to the floor please.
I wish you also had the Lumber Jack Song
"It's just resting" Yes, it's resting in peace
British humor is weird, dark, and funny at the same time. This was a funny clip. Bunny, I highly suggest you react to Fire Marshall Bill in the Hospital (Jim Carrey's iconic character) from the TV show In Living Color.
Watch the lumberjack vid.
John Cleese (the actor in this sketch) actually used a very similar speech as a eulogy during the funeral of Graham Chapman (one of the other members in Monty Python)
This part of the funeral can be seen on youtube as well.
The book store is another good one, but the Lumberjack sketch is a must, as well as the cheese shop. Not sure what you'd think of the Spanish Inquisition sketches, but you might find them funny, too.
Love this! Monty Python one of my childhood comedy's 🤩
Flying circuse is so hilarious
"A Fish called Wanda" omg 🤣🤣
The statue falling into the fish tank was a fast cut from the previous scene/sketch, and just through dialog they morphed this scene into The Lumberjack Song. They were experimenting with things like continuity, in this case to much.
Though this is a classic, I personally prefer the cheese shop sketch.
"I'm feeling a bit peckish."
'It would have muscled up to them bars.. bent 'em apart with its little pecker.. and voom!"
this is not the same version of this scene I saw.. but still entertaining.
I prefer the original version of the sketch, but this is still great
Although the whole sketch is mindblowing, my fav is - Norwegian Blue prefers kipping on its back. This vid should be shown to guys responsible for complaints in their companies. And it's kind of a level master for a non-native to hear "pining for the fjords", not fields
The parrot was a deep sleeper .
In one performance of this routine, the guy behind the counter agrees right away about the dead parrot and offers a refund. Just cuts through the rest of the skit.
Once in a live show, they did this bit and Michael Palin (behind the counter) just wanted to mess with John Cleese (the customer) so after the 'I got a slug.' 'Does it talk'?' bit, he goes '...It mutters a little bit.' ...It caught John so off-guard that he burst out laughing. By the time he collected himself, he'd forgotten his next line so the _entire audience_ called it out to him. His response? 'Well, if you all know it so well, what are we even doing here?', and then he left the stage. Came back after ten minutes of nothing to launch into the next skit.
I visited the Dead Parrot statue at the University of Greenwich this year.

Classic Monty Python love them & Benny Hilll :) :) :)
This is a lousey unfunny version of The Parrot Sketch. If you really want to see the best version, watch it as broadcast from the TV show Monty Python’s Flying Circus.
There are two versions of this, or three with the stage one.
I've got a slug.
Does it talk?
😆 🤣 love the video Bunny girl Nation stay motivated dream big 1 mill on the way
why would you only watch part of the sketch ffs
I know it's subjective, but to me, this skit isn't nearly as brilliant as the "army, protection, racket" skit.
"If [John Cleese] was a streamer...." John Cleese is still very much alive, and I'd be surprised if he hadn't been on a livestream at one time or another!
Unfortunately, he's rather grumpy these days.
there songs omg
I too pine for the fjords...
The argument clinic is better.
No it isn't.
(Just to be clear, I do like it as much.)
The Tv version of the sketch is better.
wait it is different?
@BunnymonTV Sarah, this sketch became so iconic that the Monty Python lads put it into their "Monty Python Book" which was about the size of a large magazine...
The idea was that any 2 friends could play either of the roles--one as the shopkeeper arguing how the parrot just might still be alive, the other arguing why the parrot has been dead for the past 30 minutes...
But wait!...Haven't you already done something like that at a store that wasn't a pet shop?...
Thanks, Sarah!...
