- NOVEMBER 7, 2020: St Andrew South Member of Parliament Mark Golding has won the presidency of the People's National Party. Golding defeated the St Ann South Eastern MP Lisa Hanna by 296 votes in an election that saw a 96 per cent voter turnout. The results were announced at the PNP's headquarters in St Andrew.
I know Mark Golding would win , he has the qualities of a leader and can wear many hats. Lisa Hannah is not a beauty contest here , it's serious business going forward.Mark is a humble man and he will unite the PNP party and a strong opposition.

We are looking for clear policies in delivery of full free equal education for the nation children to access. At least this was a democratic selection. Not like when there was a similar challenge for leadership in the JLP and the challenger was soundly beaten and had to flee for his life from the National Arena.

@everdon wilson I can assure though that Mr. Mark Golding is certainly NOT the character to effect such "unseen force" nor to be assertive enough to capitalise on it. Unfortunately Jamaica suffers 'more' with a weak opposition. I'm afraid I'm not confident that the choice made today gives us a better opportunity of having a strong opposition. A leader needs charisma more when he's NOT in the position of power. The PNP has chosen a leaded that lacks even an ounce of charisma.....democracy is only as good as it electorate and in this case, delegates. Jamaicans almost NEVER vote for the right reasons. This is NOT a leader ladies and gentlemen, This is a sad day for the opposition. Sad day for the nation.
