Scott has gotten more and more awesome as the years have passed. I've seen Local H, I dunno, 20 or so times. He went through a phase where he was just eternally jaded. I don't know if this had to do with their (lack of) success, substance abuse, depression, whatever. At this point, he just seems to be happy to be making music, and happy that his music is making other people happy. Good for him.
Scott Lucas is so genuine! My favorite part of the interview was when he said even if the band is playing for ten people they have an obligation to give their audience what they paid for. Not all musicians go about it this way. That's why this Texas gal' loves this band so much!
Stephanie King I can vouch for that. I go see him as often as I can. About ten years ago he was at a small venue in West Chicago or Lisle, and somebody forgot to tell the public. I think there were about 6 of us standing right in front of him, against the stage, and another small handful of people sitting at the bar in the back... ONE OF THE GREATEST SETS I'VE EVER SEEN. It's as if it lit a fire and made him want to prove that he NEVER phones it in. He was dreanched in sweat (And Makers Mark), veins were bulging out of his temples and neck so big it looked as though he'd pop, and I think he may have even had some bloody knuckles. All while hitting everything perfectly. ...always wish there was a recording of that show.
They do, I too went to an underpromoted show. They usually draw 200-500 people here and it's a good stop for them, but a smaller promoter booked them at an off the path venue to try to draw people to their show. 25 people showed for the H and I was concerned but Scott slayed it as usual.
You all probably dont give a damn but does any of you know of a way to get back into an Instagram account? I was dumb forgot the password. I appreciate any tips you can give me!
@Reuben Theo I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and I'm trying it out atm. Seems to take a while so I will reply here later with my results.
Local H is such a great act, I'm so happy Scott is still motivated, creating and putting art out there. I'm in bumfuck Tennessee but I buy every release and see them as often as I can. Keep rocking, the world needs more honest musicians who work at it.
It's kinda disrespectful that a contest had to be entered. For real dude? Local H is far beyond having to throw a hat in with some bullshit. Money has to be made I suppose. One of the best song writers on the planet...
As odd as this probably felt being in a television studio, I thought this was an excellent interview and showed the true humbleness and admirable intellect of Scott Lucas. The interviewer looked total anchorman but thankfully didn't embarrass himself and treated Scott with respect and really tried to keep it about local boy makes good. I've been a fan of Local H for years and have always thought of them as straight ahead rock, same as Scott's opinion, even on the term metal. Metal just became a pseudonym for hard rock. Would love to see them on this stadium tour.
I don't think the host was awkward at all. If he was, Scott may be getting nicer in his old age, but he wouldn't have been such an approachable, agreeable interview subject. Both of them seemed to enjoy talking to another.

The most under appreciated band ever.
It's so awesome they won this contest! This is the only time this interviewer would talk to a guy like Scott Lucas.

I remember being in an English class with Scott and his writing work stood out then, I think it was junior high or high school.
Andy you got to go to school with Scott Lucas?
Thats funny , I had an English class in high school with Mike Ness of Social Distortion
I'm a Zee bee graduate of 2010 😎

All good questions. Someone did their homework.
I wanna believe Phil Ponce was a big Q101 listener back in its heyday.
I just saw them last week, here in Greenville, SC, and they were fucking awesome. I had not seen them in 15 years!
Damn I love this band!
What an awesome dude
how does Local H keep ending up on the local news so consistently over their entire career
Thanks for posting this.
That was a really good interview!
You've literally been waiting for me all your life.
I'm not your enemy I come from The Lord
Feel inside your chest. Get a strong grip on all your external feelings and you know it's true

That interviewer was totes awks, but Scott took it in his stride
