    Hi,
Thanks so much for the video. Can you please link the supply brands you use for mulberry paper, rice starch paste, and silicon coated paper? I am trying to restore a map at home. Do you have any tips?

Hi Katie, thanks for watching!! We buy everything from our framing wholesaler. If you go to www.universityproducts.com you should be able to find the paste and mulberry paper, but we are not sure where you could find the release paper (silicon coated paper). If you want to use wax paper that would work just fine. If the map is valuable and an antique, it should go to a conservator. That is what we would have done if the map in the video was an antique and valuable. Wheat and rice starch paste are pretty much interchangeable. They come as a powder, you have to "cook" it with distilled water. You can use a stovetop or a microwave. If you go online there are a lot of videos showing you how to mix up wheat or rice starch paste. Use a small whisk when you mix it up. For the small amount that you will be using you do not have to strain it. The thing that will require the most practice is mixing up the rice starch paste. Have fun with the project and let us know how it goes!

Hello, I'm in Portugal with a large 1960s "School Map" in slightly better shape than yours. It too was kept folded. I want it on display. (it's important background for the new book I'm writing.) Have you ever heard of uisng fusable interfacing fabric, which is wide enough and aavialable here? My map is about 3 x 4 feet. Thank you.

Yes, this is called linen backing. It is the best way to preserve an old map, however it needs to be done by a professional art conservator who deals with works on paper. Good luck!

Thank you. I'm strictly DIY on this number!
