Actually, I found this one a VERY weak podcast - *especially* James' take. ALSO, NO-ONE pointed out the fact that Putler HIMself was NEITHER in Mariupol NOR Crimea but his doubles were running around instead and Putler didn't even show up IN PERSON for Xi's arrival at the airport!
I *really* would've thought, that as GENUINE reporters/journalists, at least *one* of them would've mentioned this - but *nothing*! An *embarrassing* and complete failure to emphasise Putin's cowardice, paranoia and fear to mingle with "plebs".
In addition, Igor Girkin is well-known to point out the wrong Putin in the most unmistakable manner:
"The Putin who mingles with a lot of people and lets them close is *not* the real Putin."
The fact that Xi was 'welcomed' by the Minister for Tourism ( *no* mention of this by any of the Telegraph reporters during this podcast!) should have been highlighted but utterly ignored.
This was one of the worst podcasts by the Telegraph I've heard so far, especially from that James character, totally overplaying RU's influence. RU has to kow-tow to China, and DURING Xi's visit, 9 Chinese gold mine workers were executed in cold blood by RU Wagner PMC mercenaries in the CAR.
Seriously, *this* was ONE lame-duck podcast! Just disappointing and mediocre!

So how does that translate: we commit to "no alliance", or we arent committing to an "alliance but one could occur". I may not be remembering the correct term, but i feel some ambiguity hearing that and i think its a big difference in the two meanings

It’s them once again teasing Russia for as long as it can to continue to exploit them without giving the West reason enough to sanction them.
I think both of those translations have the same information content. China doesn't want to get dragged into the war, but keep their options open wrt common geostrategic interests with Russia. Sounds like exactly the same position they've had since before the war: They want to keep Russia in as a player against the US/West and support them in those efforts, but won't commit to anything and make sure there is neither repercussions nor hindrances to their long term plans.

Xi wanted to see Putin’s condition first hand and see if he was a strong partner he could trust. It didn’t look like he came away impressed. And Putin’s gambit of having low ranking officials greet him at the airport (probably playing the hard to get card to not seem desperate) didn’t impress him either.
Chi is playing his own games and Putin gets what Chi really is thinking of him. This US rhetoric towards China isn't helpful anyways and they shouldn't pressure Chi into that the US wants to avoid.

The very fact that Xi went to see this sad little man at all is a confirmation that some increase in support is coming, but it won 't be transparent. No doubt a job for Bellingcat and state intel gatherers to establish what the logistics are.

Isn't it amazing Zelinskyy excels in everything he does? A brilliant man that starting out by earning a law degree,then followed his heart to become a hilarious actor/comedian which gave him the opportunity to invest his money wisely and becoming very well off. A devoted man ,he met and married his smart,gorgeous wife, created a beautiful family, And quite by chance, rose up to be a focused wartime president which is leading his country to victory. That's one act that is hard to follow!😅
