    Such an encouragement for me as a believer (gave my life to Christ 2 years ago) to see that he's a believer who stands firm to biblical conviction. I'm so glad he lives missionally for the gospel amongst unbelieving bands. It's even cooler for me to see he's a believer after I listened to The Almost in high school (never realizing he was) and only just recently became a believer. There really is a veil over our eyes until we receive Christ.

      ***** If you are referring to Leviticus 19:28 that says: "Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD.", then you should know that Leviticus 19:27 says: "Ye shall not round the corners of your heads, neither shalt thou mar the corners of thy beard.", and Luke 6:37 says: "Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven." You should read Leviticus chapter 19 and you will understand the tattoo thing a little better.

    It is really sad to come back to these videos and see how many people are hating on his faith. Every single one of you have had faith in something or someone at some point in time. Let them believe what they wish to believe in. Normally you wouldn't bash people for believing in Santa or the tooth fairy. He is a really great guy and many people have stopped cutting and stopped doing drugs because of his message. He has saved so many lives. Is your opinion worth more than their lives? Don't trash someone who has made more of à difference than you.

    • @mdstevens0612
      @mdstevens0612 9 років тому +2

      1. Santa and The Toothfairy is something one lets a child believe in, and for me it's like Harry Potter, when you're 11 and the letter doesn't come, you figure it out for yourself. 2. It's not that I personally hate his faith, I hate that 2 minutes of this video was actual story and that I actually had to sit through a harmonisation of "Jesus there is something about your name" to hear it. Yes, most atheists or agnostics were part of some faith at some point, but most atheists and agnostics know from getting out just how toxic it is. We've gotten away. And it's still hammered into our faces every day. Sometimes we have to remind the world of our existence. And that not all of us think that the bloke everyone else is not sleeping in on a Sunday for is a stand up guy. So no, if there are people not of faith disappointed at the lack of substance here, voice it by all means.

    • @Kay.leee.e

      +Matthew Stevens So what you are saying is: you decided to watch the video that had clearly been religious (the description says he talks about his faith) and you did NOT have the ability to leave that video at any given time? You couldn't even mute it and close your eyes???? Oh you poor thing. You watched the video, so religion isn't being shoved in your face, it is a video about religion, you don't have to watch it. As I said before, Aaron has helped so many people and prevented so many suicides. Would you rather those people have died? Would you like it if they lived their lives cutting and hurting themselves? I want to know if you think that he and the lives he has saved are worth so little that you complain about him believing in something you don't believe in. Every person is beautiful and amazing and they can show love and life to orphans and people in prison and people in poverty, no matter their religion. You can show love to others, if you forget about their beliefs, because they are worth love

    • @mdstevens0612
      @mdstevens0612 9 років тому +1

      I'm not going to talk about the fact that not everyone of those kids made it, the graveyards full of kids who actually did commit suicide BECAUSE of religious indoctrination. And I really only watched it because I liked a good few Underoath songs and wanted to know more about their formation, no other reason, like I'm sure many other people did. And it'd have been fine if there was a minute and a half narrative saying "I used to play in a church band, some bloke called me up and thought I was top notch, and then I joined Underoath, he just told me to play to honor my chosen deity". Cool. Great story. Wonder which kits you've played on. I'd even have sat through another four minute tirade on how Jesus saved him like most Christian metalcore bands do in their sets anyway, and really, I kinda don't even get surprised by that kind of thing anymore. However, as one of those kids who was on the receiving end of the bullying, I'll tell you straight up, I think it's great that he's people look up to him and they found something they can believe in, but I will hold every apologist personally accountable for every kid who still ends up being bullied by religious organisations. Every kid that is put at risk of walking in front of a bus for not being accepted because of who they are. This is the problem, Christianity is not above criticism. And if my criticism can demean every life saved by that poisonous institution, then have they honestly been saved? When that kid finally wakes up in the middle of the night and figures out it's their parents putting the money under the pillow, you know what? It sucks. It does. But then you kind of realise, your parents are awesome. That what's right in front of you is better than what you can fabricate. And I do love people, I wish the best in life to everyone, and I hope if you have a history of mental illness that you actually go seek professional help because if it were arthritis or gout you'd do it in a heartbeat, mental illnesses aren't anything to be ashamed of, they aren't some radical contagious disease. But tell me that my life has any meaning other than what I give it, and we're going to have a problem. Tell me someone else makes my destiny, especially a bigoted baby blood fetishizing megalomaniacal mass murderer and we're going to have a problem.

    • @Kay.leee.e
      @Kay.leee.e 9 років тому +7

      +Matthew Stevens That isn't what Christianity is about. What you see alot of people and organisations portray, isn't how it is supposed to be. Christians are supposed to love others with all of their hearts and show others how to love others. Christians are supposed to be helpful, selfless, peaceful, kind, patient optimistic and internally beautiful and spread that love through the world and to God. That is the purpose God has set for us. Is that really such a bad thing? Would it really be a bad world? I, whether I was a Christian or not, would want that. A concept of universal love.

    • @Kay.leee.e
      @Kay.leee.e 8 років тому +3

      Jeremiah Cuntlips *Religious people are responsible for millions of deaths. True Christianity is built on a standard of morals and relationships with people and God, loving and caring for people. Many people misinterpreted the Bible and created an untrue idea of what religion was. People became extreme, believing that if you do something wrong you have to pay for it. The truth of the matter is that: Christianity is a following of Jesus Christ, who loved every single person and cared for them. Yes, you have to reap the consequences of your actions, but what you do, if you decide to not do it again and ask to be forgiven, will have no lasting affect on your life. Those people that killed others, didn't realize that. And my argument IS valid, because I said how it is SUPPOSED to be, not how it actually is in the world. And just because you rarely see people passionate about Christianity, doesn't mean there aren't any. I have known many people who were raised Muslim or atheist that are incredibly passionate Christians. I myself, was raised in a Christian home, but I believe in the fact and logic of Christianity. And I have faith that it is true. I have seen many things in my life, and none of them disqualify the existence of God, most facts enforce that the world was not an accident. As for brainwashing, if I was brainwashed I would only believe it because I was told it was factual. However, that is not the case. I believe in it because I find nothing more real to believe in. I was not guilted into believing anything, I chose what I wanted to believe in.

    I got saved at 19. The first church I went to kicked me out just for going to another church one night. 2 cheeting wives later, a custody battle with my own mother. 2 year long failed relationships. The second because of a pastors email. In "04" I found myself where none of my friends and family would ever have thought I would go. Prison.... for 2 1/2 yrs. While there, Say This Sooner and all the bands on Tooth n Nail and Solid State helped keep my faith alive. Yes, I continue falling and falling, but my salvation means more than sick judgmental pastors and so called Christians, but I failed because I stopped attending church. There is always a pastor or church out there that can apply to our growth at any age and no matter how bad you think you've been or no matter how bad the church hurt you. It's not worth your salvation. As a Christian musician you should be careful what you project into the public don't hate on God.

    Makes me pretty upset to see all these negative comments about the “new” Aaron because this “new” Aaron is how he’s always been. Aaron was always the way he is now it was just behind the scenes, he was a huge Christian artist so he had to hold up a front of being this perfect Christian role model and it was making him miserable, Christianity is all about being a flawed human and Aaron is no different, he’s not perfect and he felt that he couldn’t truly connect with people because he had to be fake and have a certain image. Aaron is a very genuine and honest guy, he’s one of the nicest guys I’ve met, very funny and down to earth and he always keeps it real, he’s definitely been through some hardships in the past few years and he wanted to be open about his experiences and he couldn’t do that if he was still trying to hold up the image that the Christian music scene put onto him. And yes, he’s still a Christian, he still holds his same beliefs and most important, he’s still a great person!!

    Jesus is so, so, so good, even thru the ugly parts of our lives...and Aaron is missing out on Him, as far as I'm aware.
    I pray and plead with Jesus that He makes Himself real to Aaron again and meets him right where he's at. Same with Spencer and the rest of the Underoath cats.

I am a double amputee and live in immense physical pain 24/7 while raising my daughter by myself so I am pretty sure I have it harder than most christians. That is one of the thing that makes me the most sick when it comes to you preachy fucks. Always feel so damn persecuted and that only you know the truth. Actually, no one knows the real truth. All we have to go by is faith. faith does not equal fact.

    • @MisterClaks
      @MisterClaks 8 років тому +2

      We fight a spiritual battle. Also ever looked at history and what is going on each day? Millions of Christians are killed for their faith in Christ. The papacy murdered millions, islam has murdered millions. You do not have to be worried about being murdered for being disabled. Also many Christians are disabled, so your comment is irrelevant, you are just butthurt. Christ came and died for your sin, that is fact. Repent bro. God wants you to know Him, and He can and will forgive you of your sins if you humble yourself and are sincere. Don't know why you are wasting your time commenting on Christian videos if you think its nonsense. obviously something has been stirred up in your spirit if you are spending time looking at this stuff.

    I was force fed religion at a young age. As it usually does, drove me away from God. Only when I was 18 (even being forced to go to church) did I experience the tangible presence of Jesus. There is no denying that He's real once you've experienced God firsthand. The difference was when my family started going to a church that wasn't about religion. They weren't focused on offering and attendance numbers, they were focused on people. There is a fine line between religion and legit Christianity.
    Religion is spewing things like "God hates gays" and judging people when you have no place to judge at all. Christianity is loving people through whatever they're going through, whether you believe what they believe is right or wrong. God is love, and people have such a tainted view of Him because of how bible-beating hell-preaching religious nuts literally scare people or are just downright obnoxious.
    Aaron is a real inspiration to stand by the truth even when it's toughest. You're awesome dude. And you're a sick drummer.

      Butch Coolidge The world is messed up. I could engage in a useless internet debate with you, attempting to explain how the world became a perverted, sinful place when Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit. But it's 100% always proven to be a waste of time.
      Do you plan on changing your mind because of what I could explain to you now? Probably not. All I know is I was a different person years ago, and had a life changing experience that led to an overall life change. You can choose to believe it, or you can make yourself believe that your life is perfectly fine without the love of God in it. God doesn't "allow" children to be raped by priests, children are just raped by priests. Because priests are people. People are humans, with free will, to sin, or not to sin. Priests are not puppets of God.

    • @holister444
      @holister444 7 років тому

      it's not that original sin doesn't explain the evil in the world. it does in a way. but if God allowed children to get raped because of what some people did thousands years ago, than God would be evil. i'm amazed how you christian accept that explanation and can still with serious face tell me that God loves us. and don't give me the free will explanation. if you're honest you'd look it up. it just doesn't hold up to scrutiny. basically, the argument is this: what about the free will of the victim? the free will of the victim to not get raped is seriously violated. so basically what you're saying is that god is giving free will to the rapist just so the rapist could deny the free will to the victim. and in the end, god will take the rapist's free will in the worst way possible - by sending him to hell. so all i'm asking is, if the bad people are gonna be punished why wait? why wait till he rapes another person? why wait till Hitler kills all 50 million people? I guess for God, the free will of Hitler to kill as much he can, is more important than suffering of all those people. is that what you're saying? since when we are not "puppets" of God?? according to bible, God already decided how it all will end, he already planned it all out (not that he could accomplish that if people really had free will). and of course there are stories in Bible where God punished wicked people, he stopped them from sinning any more, he took all those lives in the Flood and took free will from all those people. so in principle, God is not against violation free will of people. killed even all infants in the Flood but i guess free will of serial rapist can't be violated for some reason.

      you got basically 2 choices as I see it: 1) either you discard original sin explanation for evil in the world. or 2) you accept that your god is not a loving god. Christian who are seriously and honestly thinking about it have to choose 1) and to the question "why god allows bad things to happen to good people" you have to honestly answer "I don't know". Why do so many Christians feel like they have to have find excuses for God? It somehow smells of insecurity about the strength of your faith.

      Man, I'm not sure he ever existed tbh. I listened to the interview on the Bad Christian podcast right after his divorce (which is only I think 4 years after this video) and I was shocked: he was completely off the rail on some Biblical principles like he had never heard anything of Christian theology. And I thought, what the heck was he preaching and/or standing for in the 2000s-2010s? In the podcast, among other stuff, he says for example that he's been cussing ever since he was 18 or something but he "couldn't do it in public", or something like that. I can't help thinking that he was sort of playing a script back then, at least partially

Aaron is a very genuine, honest guy and he wants people to know the real him so they can connect with him better, Christianity is all about being a flawed person and Aaron is far from perfect and he wants people to see that, because it allows people to relate to him and his music better.

    I loathe people that try to undermine any religious person. I don't call myself a Christian any more after going to church as a child, but I believe in a higher power. My higher power / vision of him doesn't matter. It's the values of God (a higher power of thought and understanding ) that has given me a conscious when someone says here do a line of cocaine, or let's go to the strip club and get wasted. I know wrong and right and I try the best I can . Will I burn for all eternity in hell ? Who knows , but i'll try my best not to.

      Reading your comment made me think you should take a look at C.S. Lewis' "Mere Christianity." if you haven't already. In the first couple chapters he elaborates on the concept of moral law like you've described, and the book doesn't really work its way up to talking about Christianity until another few chapters in. He was a former atheist so he is very cognizant of how he delivers. Just throwing it out there in case you are interested; you should be able to preview that first part of the book that I'm talking about on amazon.

      I don't feel that he was being overly preachy. There is a huge difference in someone being preachy and simply stating their beliefs. I'm no Christian by any stretch of the imagination, but I have no problem with what he was saying. In fact, I have great respect for what he says between 4:55 - 5:05. To doubt the Christian belief system is normal. I can't count the number of so-called "Christians" who have treated me like a no good dirtbag because I didn't share their "faith".

It can cause countless problems in an unpredictable future. He felt like he was in a hole because he did it, knowing that it was wrong, and knowing it could cause serious problems. Because of what he submits his life to, he mans up, admits to his faults and talks about what he did even though he could feel shameful about what he knew was selfish and wrong, because he knows he's set free from his wrong doings.

      if you look into it and do some research, premarital sex at at too early of an age CAN bear major consequences. Rather you "look" into it on a biblical stand-base or not; premarital sex for teenage girls can pose an infinite amount of risks, which is the main basis of this song. (I know Aaron Gillespie personally.) it's not even about a "Christian point of view." it's about celibacy, and having moral standards more so; not living on impulse.
