Nice video guys! I just got the same tent, it's sitting outside waiting for me to set it up on my Wrangler. Going to make my first trip next week to Colorado next week :)
With the car stuck there, how do you two go explore? Do you pack it all up every morning, drive off and explore, then come back at night and unpack everything again? Or are you guys limited to exploring the environment by foot. Thanks
When we do our setup with the annex, we explore the area by foot. We don’t have a lot of experience with hiking so we tend to not do a lot of that just to be safe. We love enjoying our campsites as we do this full-time and get to go to new sites throughout the country. We do activities that we want in between looking for campsites. Thank you for watching our video!
I forgot to ask if you have a CO2 detector with your propane heater. I decided to get one of those because the tent 🏕 I’m getting is a bit large & I don’t think the Honeywell electric heaters I planned on will be warm enough without a wood stove. I’m thinking that I’m going to get a 2 burner butane camp stove for cooking the way you do it. Stay safe. 👍☮️🌞🏜🌲🏕🌲🏜
We do have CO2 detector, forgot to include it in the video. We love our buddy heater. It heats up our annex very quickly. The 2 burner is so useful, especially in the mornings as we boil water for coffee on one and eggs on the other. It’s great!
Hi 👋 nice video. I’m planning to get a 4RUNNER & do hot tent 🏕 camping. My dog is too heavy for me to carry up to the roof of the car. Does your car have a built in inverter or are you just using the big battery? Is there a reason why you didn’t get 4 wheel drive? I’ve been thinking that is essential plus a winch & a light bar. Thanks for sharing. I’m impressed with your organization! 👍☮️🌞🌲🏜🏔🏕🌲🏔🏜🚵🏻♂️
Hey!! Thank you so much for watching our video! We do have an inverter and a DC to DC inside the electrical box. We were short in time and did not have a lot of options in NYC that also fit our budget. We also saw online that 4WD is not necessary but maybe ideal for some trails, but we’ve been fine so far. We have an LED light strip that actually came with our RTT and it’s really bright enough. We also so our best not to drive during at night, we always aim to be at a site before sundown. If you’d like to add us on IG:yvonneandjohn_ so we can answer as many questions as you may have for us. We’d love to help.
@@yvonneandjohn3979 Hey thanks a lot for the reply! 🙂 I’m planning a coast to coast bicycle trip with my Springer Spaniel in a pull behind trailer. Not sure how he will do. He might have to go to obedience school. Then about a month without the dog in Sweden, Norway & Finland above the arctic circle bike 🚴 camping.🏕 After that I plan to do what you’re doing full time with a hot tent. I’ve watched a lot of people but you guys being so new are really together! I’m impressed and learning from you. I started watching because you have the same vehicle I plan to get. I won’t be driving much @ night but the lights can really help in an emergency. I am definitely getting 4wd because there are places that look normal when dry & you can easily sink to the axles. Be careful. 👍 I don’t know what IG:yvonneandjohn_ is. Is that email? I don’t do Facebook or Twitter. BTW I’m older than you but still seeking adventure. Thanks for being in touch. I’ll be following you to learn as you go. I can’t believe how great you are doing & so new @ this. Give yourselves a pat on the back. You deserve it. Daisy 👍☮️🌞🌲🏕🌲🙂
@@secretdaisy6484 aww thanks for watching our videos and taking some inspirations. yvonneandjohn_ is our Instagram account. Feel free to add us and message us there if you have any further questions.
This may be a little awkward question regarding potter potty subject. What do you do with your waste bag after going #2...especially over night? Any problems with bears or mice with storing food inside your vehicle? We are gaining a lot of good knowledge through your vids. Thanks for sharing.
They’re really questions. We’d love to help, so ask away anytime. So, if we’re dispersed camping where we feel comfortable enough to dig a hole then we do that and we use the foldable toilet to make it easier for us. Or we bury the bags cos they’re biodegradable. But otherwise we honestly tie them tightly and put it in multiple garbage bags, leave them out and away from us until we leave and then discard them at any trash can.
We’ve never had a problem with bears or mice in our car. We have our dry foods stored in a durable bin with a latch. Rangers have told us that as long as the food is in the car it’s in the clear. We also place our trash and any dirty dishes in the car when we go to sleep. And lock the car.
Honestly, ye have a lot of unnecessary crap, like motion sensors?! If you lock your door and something tried to get in I am sure you would wake up, 2 fire extinguishers? If your staying in hotels I am sure you could sacrafic a few nights for a small jackery, floor mats when only 1 small matt would so and two tables, when 1 would do. Honestly a lot of that you can get rid of, like the compresser. Honestly get rid of a lot of crap you don't use and you would have a better time together rather than unpacking and re packing. It must take an two hours to do all this. Its just my opinion is all.
So this is actually our first time doing this trip and everything is a learning process for us. We spent less than $1,000 on our whole electrical setup. And we only spend a night at a hotel when it’s crucial, like weather problems. So it’s not about sacrificing a night or two. We use the floor mats for our pop up shower also so it doesn’t get muddy on our feet. We have most of our stuff for a lot of just incase as we’re both inexperienced when it comes to what we’re doing. But we are constantly finding ways to make our setup better suits our needs. But we do appreciate all the helpful pointers. As for the fire extinguisher, we saw a blog where they suggested 1 in the front and 1 in the back of the car is good. But you’re right we can get rid of most of our stuff and we probably will but for now we like our stuff for ease of mind. 😁 Thank you for watching our video!
@@yvonneandjohn3979 no worries, just think about the process of what your doing and what you need. Those sensors are unnecessary bud, get rid of them, 1 or 2 small mats if your looking to shower and all that, efficency, not quantity. Keep the fire protection, what ever gives you peace of mind like that. But the sensors are totally ridiculous due to if you are up in your tent very little can be done about it when they go off. Your welcome. Just a lot of packing for nothing, to make your lives easier is all.
Pretty neat! Excited for trips w/ mi lady and pup with my 2006 4runner as well 😁🤙🏼
You guys are organization pros ! Wish mine was that nicely done. Very nice overlanding setup !
thanks man! Thanks to Yvonne, she’s constantly thinking of ways to organize our stuff. Lol

Does annex be closed from inside
No, you have to zip them together from the outside.
Are y’all finna make a new video soon?
