I just heard a Australian guy knocking the crap out of the Holden Cruze. I owned one, bougth it with only 11000 on the clock. I have just traded it in for a Barina 2010 tk. The Cruze was manual 5 gear and now has 157000 and has never missed a beat. Always started first time, was quiet to run an very good on petrol.i found running it on premieum paid of. The only thing changeg was the battery, a generator and new tyres and brakes, which is good forbthe milage average tyre wear was about 75000 if not more . I had no problems with this motor , and no problems withntiming belt because they are chain timing. I had it derviced rregularly. Personally, i think its a question of who owns it to start with because taken care of they have few problems. There was no oil leaks anywhere aand no problensvwith the electric power steering.
