An Irish dairy farmer here and it's pretty similar here, being forced to restrict cow numbers for environmental reasons, with the subsidys being used as the gun to our heads, when there are less cows in the country already compared to the 80s and millions more cars and flights been taken yet we are the problem, this passed 12 months are the most depressing ever for me in my 26 years full-time farming

Hello Justin, totally agree with you're comments ,it's all in a sorry state ,and there's no idea in government to solve any problems ,

Whatever protest you do you need to keep the general public on your side

Totally agree with you Justin. Worring times ahead here 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 there's also the fact that once the trees are planted the land becomes less valuable there's a few videos going round putting all this into perspective, the price it will come to also to buy plant and look after these trees hasn't been thought out by any means. Plus the fencing as they require deer proof fencing too so that will double the cost. This SFI just won't work plus I don't think these protests have done anything to welsh assemblies thoughts on the matter. Really hope I'm wrong.

Definitely agree with the what you say with the subsidies👍. I think I’m fairly unique compared to your self and subscribers. Like you, I’m growing grass on the land to feed animals. Difference being, as we have horses we aren’t agricultural so we get no help at all from the government through grants. I run the land in the same way as you guys 🤷‍♂. On the flip side, we don’t have he red tape you do. I can cut hedges when I like (as long as no nesting birds) spread muck (as long as it doesn’t run off in water courses) etc

Hi Justin you are making some good points There's no simple answer back in the day growing up in the 1990's on are small dairy farm that was a struggle think in many ways the old subsidy system propped up a lot of farmers then when that was fazed out to the single farm payment payed on land area owned hasn't encouraged good farming just historic land owners & investors claiming money for nothing now rewilding is a con just my ill informed opinion Thanks again

Hi Justin. I agree with all the comments on here and points mentioned in the vlog. There are plenty of other places where trees could be planted rather than using good workable farm land. But it would be cheaper for the governments to get farmers to plant trees on ground rather than in towns and cities where the most pollutence is. There are moore lands that could be planted up aswell as hillsides where no farming is happing. Then them fucking supermarkets only giving pennies or cents if your in the euro like us here in ireland for produce that we are told is grown i your countries but comes from the other side of bloody world. I understand that some people find it hard to feed themselfs and their childern also oap's. If famers could get together or find some way of out competting the supermarket to get rid of them selling from the farm or markets or even moblie shops. Hard to do i know with all things governments red tape that is involved. Plus changing publics need for cheap food and the convenence . Look forward more on this and i also agree with the french and germans. Only if the farmers could afford to hold back on their produce. Look forward to your next video on this

the only people who can fix farming is the farmer , so my idea is the farmer need to own the middle men ,so that the farmers have share + all farmers need to work together

Totally agree with ya we gave up beef over last few years never had a penny at it always struggled it's annoying. It's sad that you want to do it but you know it's lost cause as my father always said money out of farmers not farming

  • @purplerunner1715

Sad to say, but it's only people that have experienced starvation, that respects the farmers.
Honesty about what's going on is the best way to go, so I'm always in favor of a fact based dialog.
That said, no one listens when it comes to law makers, and the peoples behind pulling the strings, so no wonder farmers are getting a bit to frustrated, and things escalate.
I would love to pay a fair price for my food, but there's nothing fair as things are now, where everyone else screwing over the farmer and me as a consumer, before it ends up me being able to get my food.
Sadly here there is no direct farmer to consumer options, but if you have, where you live, please give it a try, helps everyone.
    Cheers to a good rant.
    Greetings from Denmark.

I totally agree with you. Everyone need a farmer 3 times a day it about time people stop going on hoilday three or four times a year and start paying more for food it a joke food shouldn’t be cheap. And the supermarket need to stop nicking meat off farmer because if the carcass are to big they stop paying for it after a certain weight and they still sell the meat they not payed for it’s daylight robbery and it should be allowed because it’s impossible how to no how that animal will kill out on the farm

  • @bobuncle8704

Farming is one of the only industries where the buyer sets the price, and not the seller. That’s completely backwards.

Yes the French always get their way.

  • @jameszy88
    @jameszy88 7 місяців тому

Subsidy’s are not a bad thing, they keep food cheap for everyone. The rich pay far more tax then the poor so therefore there paying to keep the price of food down.
Area payment have got to go, they promoted lazy non productive farming with no guarantee the money was being spent in the agri sector.
The capital grants and productivity grants do help the farmer and the money is guaranteed to be spent in the sector. Planting trees on good productive land should be illegal.
And no we should not protest like the French, we have worked so hard to get the public on side in the past years. We should be after the bbc to get some realistic programs out that tell the truth and debunk all the climate nonsense that we are blamed for. I could go on and on ….
