New wheelchair user and finding it endlessly frustrating with mechanical issues when the "24/7" mechanics are NEVER available for days on end. Thanks for a little bit of easily understood knowledge - I swear to god if this wheel doesn't stop squealing I'm gonna lose my mind
Thanks for the explanation and details. Really appreciate! Tuning up a second hand high end chair, everything is loosey goosey or frozen, but coming around.
Hello from w covina California. Thanks for the very helpful info. I HATE looking for the wrenches, this one too big, this one too small... 11 mil and my 19 perfect!
I have the same exact wheels as you, green spoke Spinergys and quick release axles. I press quick release button and can take wheel off but can't slide axle completely out of hub/wheel. How do I fix this problem?
@@scottpope7242 wd40 or lubricant, if not use a hammer , they usually seize up after a while even though wheels pop off the axle will stick if not removed every so often dude 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Dude u r super cool.. and awesome tattoos Just one question . How the f should I fix the spring issues in the wheelchair axle .. once I push the button down, it doesn't pop up again so the ball bearing don't stuck in the hub.. n wheel falls off
Hi Jason, a great video, thank you! I just tried tightening axels because of back and forth movement. After tightening, the wheel doesn't turn, and I can't take it off my chair. Suggestions? Thank you, Sir!
new wheelchair user here, I wanted to change my wheels and needed new axels, but they won't push far enough in the sleeve to even clip in without a wheel on them. Any idea why?
@@Ymirtus have you adjusted the nut on the axle yet? If so you might need a longer axle depending on the wheel , sometimes different wheels have wider/narrower hubs which affect what axle you use.
Hi Jason omg im so happy to find your channel. I'm learning how to navigate the world around me with different tires as ive experienced a few flats. I have an assistive device called the Companion Plus by Cheelcare.... I have a question: do you recommend taking out the Quick Release and using it on other wheel/tires but going onto your same chair? what do you think? I have Spox / marathon plus and the other wheels are spox/ primo ( both air tubes ). Also what do you think about solid tires?
Once your axles are set up for your chair you can use other wheels if you want just swap out and use your current axles so you Don’t have to keep adjusting different axles
My new chair is a substitute cause one I wanted was discontinued. New chair has stub axles and I want qr axles so as to lessen weight going into car.is hole in frame of chair any different between 2 types? Any issues assuming I measure pin length correctly?thank you from nj,USA. Former technician but never dealt with qr stuff
@@jasonparkerghosthead that's what I measured-but still the stupid stub axles.i mean I expect to go farther than my room and the pick up area at the hospital.but I had to pick from a Co. That sells literally everything but specializes in nothing.
One of the ball bearings collapsed and shattered in my cowherd can I get replacement axil pins. I use spinergy wheels. Pin measures 1/2 inch diameter. And 110mm from inside tread to ball-bearing. ( yes I am aware of mixture of imperial and metric)
Hi there , I am Having problems in finding the correct axel pin, so the pins on my spinergys are too wide to go on my chair , The pins on my chair fit the spinerys but does lock in , so im Thinking i need 120 m but i can find the width i only see 1/2 on all pins advertised to buy .my question is do you of any pins smaller than 2/1 ?? I can not find any for ..CK sake 😉
I have two chairs given to me one has quick release wheels the other chair does not have quick release is there a way to covert the other wheels to the quick release so i can have a backup set of wheels?
Depends on the wheels really, if the hub can fit the same size bearing as your wheels maybe, hard to say without seeing them, best advice is to contact your local repair centre and they would know more…. Maybe haha 😂
Quick Release Axle. Now let's see a vid on how to adjust negative camber... options, how to, etc... Try as I might, there's absolutely NOTHING out there on how this is done!
I run zero camber for that reason so I don’t have to adjust it, only thing to do is go back to the wheelchair shop who gave you your chair and watch them do it .
Grab a a wooden mallet and bang the hub of the wheel from the inside while holding the axle button down , it should work, this usually happens when you don’t take the wheels off enough

Try Inox or WD40 to lube it up, otherwise it’s shot and you need a new axle, if they aren’t taken in and out often they’ll also seize up

Should be able to hold the button in and tap it out from the other side with a hammer 🔨

99% of new wheelchairs have qr axles, 1/2 inch axle and axle tube

While you're waiting for a solution/mechanic soak the hub in some rust buster or dissolver thoroughly. Just ask at your auto store.
Now how do you remove one that is stuck in the chair and the button won't press to release the bearings. Fuck fuck fuck 😉
