I'm in Shotokan Karate of America, I learned the first two Tekki Katas, started to learn Tekki Sandan, then I forgot Tekki Sandan. This video is a big help for me relearning Tekki Sandan.
These videos are the best for learning shotokan katas. These have been a fantastic help for me for years. So thank you so much for these great videos with so many detailed explanations. Osu.
A great UK karate Sensei - understands and explains the true meaning of Karate Do through the katas. Great demonstration and explanation. Wish there were more karate teachers like you in Europe - a true Sensei in every sense of the word. Osu!
Thank you for clear explanation. I have been doing it for 10 years daily and found a little mistake in my performance. Thanks for slow step by step explanation.Subscribed.
Anybody noticed, he is getting up from the kiba-dachi stance. My sensei taught me to stay low through out the kata as low as you started your first move in kiba dachi.
in traditional okinawan karate you find a greater degree of going up and down in stances. this obviously doesn't apply here. modern karate styles like shotokan keep low all the way through in the kata, because it trains the muscles and that is part of what a kata is for. so doing modern karate, we keep low. however, in the video the sensai does a lot of katas one after the other and takes longer for them, as he explains them instead of just going through. so his legs get tired over time, hence he doesn't stay low, but does some, absolutely understandable and forgivable adjusting of stance. if you are training your legs or apply for grading (or, if you do, in a tournament), keep a low stance all the time. in modern karate there is also the believe, that keeping low will keep your energy flowing in line, with more or less physics and or more esoteric concepts in the explanation. this is debatable, as we see in qi gong and muay thai (just to name examples) where there is a lot of strong up and down in the movements, while still keeping up a lot of "flow".
I practice that step over standing in line at the grocery store. Frank Smith Flunked me on my 1st Dan test due to wobbly horse stance. My wife took a video of the test. And he as so correct. Now I use 70lb bar bells to move in Kibadach. And any other Stance. I love doing Kata with weights.
All kata one must keep your stances low. Except when you need to stand straight. Even then your center is still sunk down. One of my training routine is doing all Stances together. First Zenkutsu,Kibadache,Kokutsudache, Nikodache, and twisting stance.then back to Zenkutsudache and start again. Good excersize to go from Stance to Stance keeping hip low. Then add hand techniques to it.
Merci pour vos vidéos qui me sont toujours d'une grande aide, j'ai juste ensuite à modifier quelques techniques, il y a toujours des variantes d'un pays à l'autre, bonne continuation.
My Kata for this month. Last month was Tekki Nidan. San Dan can be confusing due to the double blocks. But is a very effective Kata for close quarter combat. OUS.
I like the way you used the line on the gym floor to line up your kata. My Sensei used to have me do that. Anyway, I've been doing karate for about 16 months, and I'm currently in 7th Kyu, green belt, preparing for purple, but working ahead learning Tekki Shodan for blue belt. It's very different from any of the Heian katas, but I'm having fun with it. I really like watching your kata videos; they've helped a lot so far. :)
tekki is a different system than heian. the heian kata are all derived from kushanku, which is kanku (dai and sho) in shotokan. the tekki kata are derived from naihanchi (not preserved in shotokan). this why they "feel" different, the underlying concepts are different.
Thank you for creating your channel. It's been very useful to me since I study Shotokan karate on my own at this time. Will you ever be uploading bunkai videos for this, or any other kata? I find Tekki Sandan to be such an interesting kata, but many of the techniques are a bit mysterious to me.
sorry to be off topic but does someone know of a way to log back into an Instagram account? I was stupid lost the account password. I would appreciate any tips you can offer me!
@Lennox Hunter thanks so much for your reply. I found the site thru google and I'm trying it out atm. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
Yes it is. As I know that in shotokan style whenever you do the previous kiaia movement and from that, there are 3 possibilities to execute that previous movement. Then, the three ways to do the kata are true.

@@antiplusch9381 Your explanation makes a lot of sense! Thanks for taking the time to write this down!
And there are differences in what association you fall under as to the way you are taught
