We've got a great classic episode of EP this week, kicking things off with Tommy Tallarico's visit to Namco in San Jose, California to get caught up on Tekken 3 for the PlayStation! Tommy chats with associate producer, Brian Schorr, about the hit fighting game.
Afterward, Kelly Benson chats with passersby about their thoughts on Tekken.
Then Tommy races to Heat HQ to get the latest on Net Fighter with producer, Erik Wahlberg, who also does his best to "train" Tommy to be a competent fighter in real life.
After the break we visit Playmates Interactive Entertainment in Irvine, California and Tommy talks with Adrenix producer, Carlos Rodriguez about the game. Then Tommy and MDK producer, David Hoffman get yelled at by security while they dig into the PlayStation port of the hit Shiny Entertainment title. Then Tommy chats with president Gary Rosenfeld about the toy company's foray into games.
The Electric Playground then makes a stop at Electronic Arts in San Mateo, California, to dig into the details of NCAA March Madness '98. Tommy interviews Mike Lampelle, development director, Mitzi McGilvray, producer, and Tony Lupidi, the art director. We also hear from Kate Starbird, from the Seattle Reign, Evan Hirsch, EA's MoCap studio director, Curtis Townsend, head coach of East Kentucky and Tim Duncan from the San Antonio Spurs.
After the break Kelly stops people to ask them about everybody's favorite Nintendo dinosaur, Yoshi!
Then Victor Lucas talks with Nintendo Super Agents, Alan Belardinelli and Tom Davis; and also Shigeru Miyamoto, Nintendo's game god, about Yoshi's Story. Meanwhile Kelly talks with Ron Bertram, director of communications from Nintendo of Canada.
Then it's time for Tyrone's Tip of the Week, starring Tyrone Rodriguez from Tips & Tricks Magazine.
After the break EP's on Alcatraz for Reviews on the Rock and in this episode we look at:
Winter Heat: SEGA Sports for Saturn
Battlezone for PC
Judge Dredd for PlayStation
Fighters Destiny for Nintendo 64

I look forward to these every week 👍🏾
Is it just me or have was this a golden age of gaming? So much innovation and risk taking, just to make good games. We had it so good!
Games were cheaper to produce at the time. So publishers could afford to try a lot of things. That started to die down during the 360/PS3 era.
Compare a single year from that era like 1998 vs 2023. Look at how many incredible games released that year and how few released recently. It's crazy. And 1998 wasn't a fluke. 1996, 1997, 1999, 2001, etc etc. All amazing years that make these modern times look miserable in comparison.
@@darkl3ad3r innovation and risk has been shut down in favour of quick money making.
What a great episode for a wonderful year. This was when I graduated highschool and have vivid memories of playing ps1 and final fantasy VII
arcades in every grocery store and Pizza joint.
These make me so happy. Thank you Vic!
1998 is my favourite ever! Nothing but great memories as a 10 year old, great movies, great music and video games were incredible! Thank you Vic for bringing back so many memories
Same. So many good games for all the consoles & PC. The final successful year for the Arcade as well. Some of my favorites from '98: Vigilante 8, Tekken 3, Bloody Roar, Rouge Trip.
@@wallaceshawn-zk8iwlove all the games you mentioned especially Tekken 3 and Vigilante 8! Me and my cousin would play those for hours also Need for Speed 3 Hot Pursuit on PC the graphics were insane back then
I was 10 for most of 1998 too (birthday is August 15th) and man what a year. We really did have it so good. I look at my daughter and the world she's growing up in and it hurts my soul to know how little is going on to be a happy excited kid over today. I'd give her my childhood in an instant if I could.
@@darkl3ad3rfeel bad for kids these days as well, we had a special childhood
I miss being a kid in these days, playing lots of Goldeneye, Mario 64, Ocarina of Time and Pokémon was about to take over the world.
Awesome! Tekken 3 was my first fighting game ❤
The nostalgia for Reviews at Alcatraz
19:47 almost slipped out Vic!
Great video
*Nintendo of America:* _"[It's a Miyamoto developed game] Immediately that should tell you the caliber of game it is!"_
*Shigeru Miyamoto (only a few years later when asked about Yoshi's' Story):* _"..... Let's talk about Yoshi's Island instead"_
🌸 ZOE FLOWER 🌸
"The Bobsled is... totally fun!"
Even as a kid, I don't think I ever appreciated what was almost said here...!
I'm not that good, I'm around level 165, I'm using the Lordsworn Greatsword which is one of the earliest weapons to find, and I'm not having too difficult a time so I'm not sure what the deal is with people complaining about difficulty
F1 simulator- Indy 500 …
Tommy is usually wrong in his reviews and he was wrong about Fighter's Destiny. Great game!
Man, Tommy is a bad opinion haver. Love him, but wow.
