As a bunny mom, thank you for the incredibly humane rabbit enclosure!!! I've seen too many farms that simply dump their buns into a dirt enclosure. Thank you for sharing :)
You convinced me. I don’t have the energy for all that work, but I can do it on a smaller scale and I will add my aquaponics, ducks and geese. Thanks for showing how it can be done.
Love it! Your planning, commitment and love of nature are obvious. Yes to those BIG bolts! Plants and animals are doing well in such a healthy environment. And then the horse…..way too cute! Great homestead. Thank you for sharing this video!
I don’t know that they would have survived without the modifications we made. The welded wire really made it strong and having it buried all the way around anchored it and made it unmovable
So glad to see you again - I never forgot how interesting and cute you were, soldering coolly with your small soldering tool, inventing towers for vegetables, and so on. Bless God you are alright, surrounded by nice gentle people, and telling us about interesting things. That is a pleasure indeed. Friendly greetings from southern France.
Thank you for showing how you secured the bottom for the rabbits. I have such rock solid soil that I may need to wait until we get winter rains to be able to dig the area out.
I absolutely love how you put 4 together including the garden! We bought one for our chickens but I got sick and we didn't get it up in time...our flock has been destroyed. I have one poor chicken left in a bunny hutch/run. lol Glad to see it worked through even the flood...poor bunnies glad you didn't loose any. We have a real problem with hawks and possums and rats...hope it works as well for us but you guys put it up with excellent planning ahead.
For Northerners similar frame structures can be had relatively cheap in spring from failed and damaged car shelters. It's generally cheaper for the person to buy an entire new structure than replace a badly damaged tarp so they just put them up for scrap. Craigslist is your friend.
I have several of these big pens and one smaller one and they are PERFECT for the chickens, I honestly don't know what I'd do without these pens. The advice I can add in is to buy better zip ties because the ones that come with it crumbled apart on me after about a year so I had to start replacing them over the Winter but everything else about them is strong & sturdy and I love how they can be put together for a custom setup. I live in Ohio and we have really crazy weather and it held up during any kind of wind rain, snow, ice, etc.. too. GREAT video!
I was lucky enough to find some "take it apart and haul it off and it's yours FREE" large dog runs like this on CL about 4-5 years ago. Most had "cyclone" fencing, but no roofs. I joined them all together for my chicken runs. I use rolls of that green plastic garden/safety mesh to cover the tops, since we have eagles, owls and hawks in abundance. Some left-over corrugated tin and shade covers (used in gardens) make a few outdoor places for them to stay shaded and more dry. Our Texas heat makes rabbits problematic for me, but cuy (guinea pigs) do really well here. I've set up a colony system for them in one of these covered in hardware cloth and chicken wire. Cuy don't dig like rabbits, so it's been a lot easier than keeping them in cages, plus they seem happier and grow better. A large dog igloo (also free off CL) filled with straw and leaves gives them ample shelter during the winter. The chickens and cuy seem to get along fine, as long as the cuy are not small babies that the chickens see as a snack. I can turn them all out together once in a while to keep the different types of weeds down and spread out the fertilizer from each species. I call it "livestock enrichment". I really liked your ingenious way to make a door along the interior wall. Well done! Going to have to adapt that idea to my own setup. Been subscribed for a while. Makes me happy to see you in my feed again. I hope y'all continue to be healthy and blessed. Even thriving. Times seem to be about to get tougher. Good to see such smiling and joyous young folk.
Wow. Lots of work but then I guess that'll be what's required for their safety. Around here we do get hawks and the occasional reports of coyotes as well.
Hey from Alexandria, La....love this idea! Y'all must have dog(s) that keep the coon and opossum away bc we had the darn things treat our Ft Knox dog kennels like it was a golden corral for predators! They literally managed to squeeze thru and kill standard sized birds and eat them in the kennel. Love all your tips, and we KNOW the rains and storms we get are no joke! God bless y'all!
I can’t speak for its durability without the modifications that we made, but the final product that we ended up with is very strong. Just search “chicken coop” on Amazon and you’ll find them
great video. I have chickens but I will be keeping rabbits next month. have a question about your pen.. the rabbit burrows.. did you create them or do you just let them make their own? How do you keep them from digging out beyond the enclosure?
I noticed you have 2 coops that are "attached" on the outside of the pens. Do you rotate the chickens out of those pens and move the coops? Or am I not understanding how you rotate them?
I use the two coups to allow for a larger flock but when it’s time to hatch a new flock I can separate my setting hens and eventually their chicks from the rest of the mature flock and give them their own coup. I use to close the back pen and plant in it then open it to supplement feed but even had to give that pen ti the growing rabbit flock
Thanks for sharing! Y’all are so young and so smart. Great job! I’ve watched a couple of your videos and I have a question about your chicken feed…you’d mentioned that you got a 50lb bag of whole wheat for around $11. I was wondering where you got that? I’m in the southwest corner of the state and wouldn’t mind driving to get a haul of wheat at those prices, besides,it would give me an excuse to go to Joanns Fabric store 😊The best I’ve found has been 50lbs for around $41. Don’t think I’m looking in the right places.
You may have mentioned it in the video & maybe others have asked I just did not catch it but what is your rotation of the runs & when do you rotate them?
This is great. I'm curious what the process was with the garden part, you guys didn't mention those details. What was the timeline? How long did you wait to introduce chickens in so they didn't destroy all the plants? Any plants that work best? Thank you for this.
did u also use heavier wire on the top? i have redtail hawks around here . i have to use heavier wire . i found out the hardway . chicken wire stops chickens. hawks tear through it.
I really with I could have a rabbit setup like this. Sadly are environment just isn’t able to have one (the neighbors feed rats and other wild life). I have to have a cage setup sadly, but I do try and let them out in pens as much as possible.
It’s too big and too anchored. If we left it I achieved it would get destroyed in the bad storms we have here and the wild animals would go under it and the rabbits would get out
Right? I've been told rabbits can/do dig as much as 23' deep into the ground. I foot of wire might keep the kits in, but not larger ones. And obviously those rabbits have been there awhile. I was planning on doing something similar, until I was told about how deep rabbits dig, then cancelled those plans.
Rabbits don’t dig straight down. So if the dog too close to the wire they will hit it and go a different direction. We have had the colony for a few years now with no escapes
Duuuuude This is perfect. I already have one of these for the chickens and want another for the rabbits. Just concerned they will dig out. We are pretty new to rabbits. My daughter just finished an ffa project and we kept the remaining two. How are you keeping them from digging out? And do have to separate your male rabbits from the females ever? We live in Texas and was told its best not let them breed during the summer. Also wouldn’t want the incest thing going on once we have babies. Really want to get them out of the pins and able to run around in one of these. Any quick tips you can offer would be AWESOME! 👍🏻👍🏻
I just posted how we built the rabbit section. Just burry some wire a foot or two in the ground all the way around and they won’t dig out. We have never had an escape. Our male stays in the colony. He is very good with the little ones, even protecting them. So it depends on if you have a good male. If you have a mean one, eat him. 👍🏻
@@SurvivalHT oh my gosh...So awesome. I cannot thank you enough for posting that video!! Girl, Seriously! I saw the rat wire part the first time but someone came in and was talking. lol 🤦♀️ Hopefully our boy is a good’n or we def will. Y’all stay safe over there ❤️👍🏻👍🏻
Yes. No snakes have gotten in at all ever. Had one Water Moccasin (very poisonous) try his best to get through the wire to the rabbits only to get stuck in it. He couldn’t fit through but his scales snagged so that he couldn’t back out either. So I had to kill him in the wire and get him out but no others have even gotten that far. I have seen snakes by the pens but non have ever gotten in
As a trapper that uses alot of cages you are setting up for failure. That welded wire won't even slow a large dog or coyote down. Light chain link would been best and cost close to same. Just because you have not had trouble yet just means nothing has tried
Not so. We have watched 80 and 90lb dogs try with all their might and packs of Coyotes come through constantly and nothing has been able to get in. Been a few years and all is well
Then mine and other cage makers video footage of coyotes easy getting threw welded wire are all wrong. The only welded wire that holds up is 12 gauge and that is not 100 percent. Dogs not getting in means nothing easy to hold a dog in any cage. Go catch a coyote and pen him in there he will tear out
Hey great video I totally agree with that enclosure them little rabbit cages are ugly and they definitely hate them. Where do you guys get those frame systems for the structure you guys use I want to try this out way more natural. Love from Cali👍🏾
1st off I really love your channel but but you should really check out Joel salatin And he has a great set up of chickens and rabbitsHe did something similar to yours But he put the rabbits in cages in the middle it'll and then let the chickens run around at the bottom
Very nice job peeps😃 May OUR SAVIOR continue to bless you and keep you, AMEN AMEN AMEN
I'm happy to see you doing videos again! I kept your channel in my subscriptions all this time and I'm glad I did!
Same here!! First time checking out the old man. Behind every strong woman is a strong, supportive man. Amazing vid!!!
Love this idea! Even if we stick in their smaller cages for night and let them play together in there for the day! Definitely gonna show hubby!
As a bunny mom, thank you for the incredibly humane rabbit enclosure!!! I've seen too many farms that simply dump their buns into a dirt enclosure. Thank you for sharing :)
Jesus bless you guys. I love Rabbits so much. I gave four in my studio apartment. My wish one day i have a house with a yard

This project turned out really nice...awesome job :)

So glad your posting more videos regularly.

Thank you the video that gave inspiration and ideas. God bless.

Sure have missed seeing your videos.
How about making a Deadman anchor... Take a cinder block bury it a foot or 2 deep with cable attached to cinder block an corners of framing.
Awesome build! I like it!
Nice setup.
Cute baby❣️
Ty
Awesome idea!
This is great! Thanks for sharing.
Nice job 👍
Love the concept!
That’s brilliant
Fantastic! Wondering what you placed on the roof?
The roof it just chicken wire and tarp or shape cloth
Can you do an update on how the setup is and the rabbits in that setting? I’m looking to do the same
I love this set up but I have a burning question. Do the rabbits not tunnel out of the enclosure?!
Nope
great video. I have chickens but I will be keeping rabbits next month. have a question about your pen.. the rabbit burrows.. did you create them or do you just let them make their own? How do you keep them from digging out beyond the enclosure?
We put some totes but they dug the borrows. Just put some wire underground around the edge a foot or two deep and they won’t dig out
@@SurvivalHT awesome :) thank you!
Looks awesome! Mind sharing a link for the frames?
Just search “chicken coop” on Amazon
You have four sections. Do you rotate the poultry between the sections? And do you also rotate the rabbits?
They don't dig underneath that?
Nope

You may have mentioned it in the video & maybe others have asked I just did not catch it but what is your rotation of the runs & when do you rotate them?
Rotate in between growing seasons. So fall and spring
How do the rabbits do all together? Are there ever any territorial issues? And where do you keep your bucks?
We keep one buck in the breeder pen, all ease get moved to the grow out pin. We have no problems
wait what frames are these? you said 300$? what's the brand?
This is great. I'm curious what the process was with the garden part, you guys didn't mention those details. What was the timeline? How long did you wait to introduce chickens in so they didn't destroy all the plants? Any plants that work best? Thank you for this.
Any garden plants will work and don’t let the chickens in until after you harvest and are ready to clean it out. Chickens will eat EVERYTHING
Where yall at? Not far from me I bet lol, I can hear it in your voice😆 lessez les bon temps roulez sha
did u also use heavier wire on the top? i have redtail hawks around here . i have to use heavier wire . i found out the hardway . chicken wire stops chickens. hawks tear through it.
We used chicken wire on the top but also covered most of it with a tarp
Thanks for sharing this! New sub here!
Welcome!
So how did you utilize the 4 coops?
Curious what wire is on the floor or is there none I would think the rabbits would dig out
None on the floor. Only around the edge under ground. They won’t dig out if you burry some around the edge
How do you keep rats out? I find they love chicken and rabbit food. They will even eat their droppings when really hungry.
Between the welded wire and the chicken wire. Nothing gets in. The Rabbit pen also has rat wire around the bottom
I really with I could have a rabbit setup like this. Sadly are environment just isn’t able to have one (the neighbors feed rats and other wild life). I have to have a cage setup sadly, but I do try and let them out in pens as much as possible.
Awesome!!!
Rat wire hell. That is the only thing to keep your rabbits in. Lol.
What was the rat wire you used? Could chicken wire be a substitute?
No you need 1/2 inch holes or less
How deep did you dig down for that rat wire?
Where did you get 20' x 40' greenhouse frames for $300?????
Search “chicken coop” on Amazon. You will have to Reinforce it well to use it as a greenhouse
Could you move this around like a chicken tractor? Is it strong enough?
It’s too big and too anchored. If we left it I achieved it would get destroyed in the bad storms we have here and the wild animals would go under it and the rabbits would get out
Can you add an Amazon link so we can buy one? Thank you.
Check the video Description for link

Nice!
What is growing in the chicken run? Is it on purpose or just weeds.
Where the chickens are was just weeds. There was a section that I grew a garden in and then let them have at it after harvest
What do you call these enclosures to search for them?
Just search “chicken coop” on Amazon
How often do you all rotate them around?
Not often
It’s even done well keeping snakes out?
Yes. No snakes have gotten in at all ever. Had one Water Moccasin (very poisonous) try his best to get through the wire to the rabbits only to get stuck in it. how did you anchor it to the ground?
With hide bolts and also we buried the wire in the ground all the way around to keep coyotes out. Which also functions as an anchor
I'm not excited to see y'all's setup. It's fun to see how others make things work together.
