The more opportune time did come! When Jesus told Peter what was coming- that He would die and be resurrected- Peter only heard “Die”- and went to trying to persuade Jesus not to do this- Jesus responds- “Get thee behind me satan”. Mark 8:31-38
Think about it- Jesus was at the height of His ministry- He had followers innumerable- He had loyal companions- who wanted Him to elevate Himself and take down Rome- most important- He had roots with His disciples- He loved the people- and He knew what was coming!
YET…. He could not be distracted- He saw the attack- and He put the devil back in his place!
How often does it happen that when people fall- is when they have acquired their “position” here on earth- because they didn’t see the truth of the matter!?
The enemy is always in wait for an opportune time! We are called to be wise- to be aware- to watch- because he is roaming about! We are never told to be scared- or fearful- because we have the ability to defeat him- just as Jesus did- because the power is IN THE WORD- because Jesus is the WORD!
