netflix originally had it headed for streaming, but jordan peele was so impressed by it that he picked it up for a theatrical push - so hopefully that's a really good sign of its quality
Best thing about this is that Dev Patel has a black belt (not sure which martial arts) and has spent years perfecting it and been looking desperately for an action role, but no one in Hollywood takes him seriously, so he made the role for himself. Just shows how clueless Hollywood can be because not only is the man a great actor, he’s very clearly action hero material too. His talent as a writer is already known too as all the leads in Skins had involvement in writing the scripts although never got official writing credits. So I think after this film, whether it’s good or bad, Dev Patel will find himself very much so in demand from major studios which these days of course means Marvel and DC will be lining up first.
For many unaware. It ain't just a monkey. He's Hanuman, a lord in the Hindu Scripture RAMAYAN. He's a devout devotee of lord Ram and to save his wife Sita abducted by the evil Ravan, hanuman did burn the whole city of Lanka down and Ram killed Ravan in the end. Yeah, so not just a monkey. He simbolises lord Hanuman.
I TOTALLY THOUGHT THE SAME EXACT THING!! The way they showed the monkey mask and the way they talked about the White Monkey god figure in the beginning of the trailer I thought he was going to be fighting crime dressed in that monkey mask or get some sort of powers from that god figure.
I'd also recommend Yakuza and Judgment franchises from RGG Studios and Sega. These video games are well known for their high octane action and cinema style storytelling.
@thefirstbourne149 From 2:55 onwards in the trailer the guy is literally waiting for his head to get smashed by the bottle😂 Don't get me wrong it mostly looks dope, but it highlights the difference between actor that's learnt fight choreo vs a martial artist or stunt person that's adept at choreo and moves more fluently
Seems like if horror directors want to try different genres, they switch to action movies first. Unless there are other examples out there, would love to hear other opinions
Oldboy has some resemblance, just with the one action scene everyone talks about. This only shows that action, like the John Wick movies. Wtf are you getting it’s like only Oldboy for.
Is this another Bollywood hit? First RRR, Dangal and some others. When you have to look to the East to get your movie fix because the West f---ing up ROY--AL-Y!!!
@@yuukisama2001 Right now Tollywood, Sandalwood are the biggest industries in India and not Bollywood. Bollywood doesn't have food content these days. South Indian movie industries(Tollywood, Sandalwood, Kollywood) are currently dominating India and Bollywood is busy remaking south indian industry movies.
@@phoenixj1299 Wow! Meanwhile they've been tearing up the music charts too. Thanks for that info. I'll have to look up these different Indian film industries. Oh seems the Punjabs have a industry too. I was wondering if they did.
Im cool on the Bollywood Hindu flicks. Just like they have contempt for all black entertainment and culture. Do not be fooled by those Hindhus. Ghandi disliked Black people. 🤔It was no secret
Many Indians dislike Gandhi including myself. Gandhi was a racist. Gandhi himself was against Hindus. I guess black people like you will never learn any lesson on how to treat others.
Idk why Dev Patel doesn't get enough credit he's been working so hard and the Green Knight was phenomenal
Another person who agrees that The Green Knight is incredible 🙌🏻
bc people are stupid as hell. TGK was my favorite movie of 2022.
@@yt.byliam The Green Knight is a legitimate masterpiece.
Yeah that movie was awesome.
Fun fact, Hanuman (monkey man, Indian godlike being) is also revered by the fictional. Jabari tribe in Black Panther
At last, the Hey Arnold! character FINALLY gets his own movie
The name is from Hey Arnold, but the look is from Bob's Burgers lol
@lenindominguez1986it reminds me of Gene's Beefsquatch costume
netflix originally had it headed for streaming, but jordan peele was so impressed by it that he picked it up for a theatrical push - so hopefully that's a really good sign of its quality
I believe Dev has a black belt in taekwondo. He's legit.
I dunno about anyone else but the first thing I thought of was Hey Arnold's Monkey man
MONKEY MAN!!!!!
You not alone bro I was thinking the same thing.
I thought the same thing at first
Monkey Man!
Lol

Dev Patel is a really good actor... watch Lion, he's one of the few who can actually do a convincing Australian accent.
Lion is a Fantastic Movie
Jordan Peele saved this from going straight to streaming on Netflix, he must have really liked what he saw, I can't wait!
I’m excited for this. Dev is a wonderful actor.
He ain’t monking around 🤣🤣🤣
You know what? Among all the Avatar team of Shyamalan Avatar, Dev Patel is the one who still exist in the industry, even manage to direct a movie now
I mean dev Patel was a big enough get in the shyamalan casting they changed the ethnicities of the entire fire nation to match him.
Him bouncing off the window reminds me of the criminal trying to run from the cops by jumping out the window, but he bounced back. lol
Nothing like a good time when the special brother just ran and broke through the glass 😂
Now I see why Dev Patel was cast as Zuko in the last Airbender, because he can bring the FIRE 🔥
Dev Patel turned his back on mainstream Hollywood after the failure of The Last Airbender.
No
You thought you ate with that comment

Who is devoted to another lord ram, got it.
4:31 he was also in the best only first person shooter movie HARDCORE HENRY

I'm glad Korey and I are on the same page. I also had that fuck-yeah feeling by the end of the trailer. I can't wait to see this in April!
I'm glad they finally paid off that monkey storyline from 'Nope'. See, it's all connected.
I’ve been in love with Dev since SKINS. This is the Indian remix version of Wolverine cage fighting in X-men, Ninja Assassin and John Wick
Monkey man in the John wick universe.
The trailer was 🔥. I thought his face was going to be like monkey's at first when I saw the thumbnail. I'm glad its a mask.
Oh you didn’t show the trailer odd but I guess a reaction happened? Thanks for the review.
John Wick vs Monkey Man.
I'd also recommend Yakuza and Judgment franchises from RGG Studios and Sega. These video games are well known for their high octane action and cinema style storytelling.
If you like Shalto Copley you need to see him in Hardcore Henry. Amazing underrated action movie.
i heard the trailer was spoilery so I stopped halfway through but goddamn did I cheer when he nailed that guy with the microwave door ♥🔥
Slum dog wick😂
Slumdog Killionaire
Btw, do any of you all have #/#'s that that are seen all the time? Like any particular number or sequence of numbers commonly seen?
I forgot how hard Panjabi MC went
Please do a trailer reaction for the second trailer for Ghostbusters 4: Frozen Empire.
I love me some Dev!
I hope Julian is getting dividends for them remaking Money with a Gun
Epola is strong with this one
RRR is the quickest 3 hours ive ever seen , its been a year get over it.
This reminded me of The Raid
Cinematography and camera movement looks dope. But fight choreo looks kinda slow ngl😒
What part of that choreo was slow?!

That guy wasn't from RRR, Julien. That was a different Indian guy.

React to the new Tyler Perry movie 😂😂😂

Makarand Deshpande was in RRR. he was the guy who made the sleeping potion for the tiger. Makarand is in Monkey Man.
I dont know. The title, the significance of a "white monkey"... Seems a lil sus. But the action and cinematography look crazy😮😮😮.
Strange movie man
Wouldn't have been bold if it was a black guy:-7
