Fillet Mignon Recipe that is going to satisfy 100% Thanks for watching!
That is amazing and looks so delicious now I'm hungry again LOL
1. holy shit 1.1m views and only 14k followers, thats fucked up! 2. fix the volume it sucks! just gotta say your "fresh" thyme and rosemary are in store bought packages...... not all that fresh. gotta say you fast forwarded multiple times after the flip which means they were on the 2nd side for WAY over 2 minutes! yea NO WAY 4 minutes of cook top and 2 minutes of oven did that. I love cooking vids but this was silly no way.
Looks good. Going to try it!
@@Erati243 shut your damn mouth
@@Erati243 bro just shut up follow the recipe in the description i try it every time and it works perfectly and most of the time herbs are fresh form the shop bc it would go off easily dumbass
Great video and the steaks looked very tasty, but let me give you some pro-tips. I've been cooking steaks with the cast iron skillet for many years and have learned several key points. 1) when searing steaks at a high heat, use an oil that has a higher smoke point. Extra virgin olive oil starts to break down from 325 - 375 degrees F, that will give you a bitter taste you don't want. I'm assuming you're searing at a higher temp than 375, so I would suggest using something like grape seed or vegetable oil, I've also used bacon grease. 2) on the oven temp, I use a lower heat at 350 degrees, by cooking at a lower temp, the steak's doneness is more evenly distributed, wall-to-wall medium rare with a great crust from the sear! 3) Last tip, don't throw away that yummy goodness that's left in the skillet, pick out the used rosemary, thyme and garlic and toss in the trash, and then use the rest of what's in the pan to sauté some mushrooms, even add some asparagus, cook over medium heat until almost done, the last minute add some minced garlic, reduce heat to medium-low (let the skillet cool down for a minute or two) and add some heavy whipping cream, allow the cream to reduce down to almost a glaze, then plate with the perfectly cooked steaks!
Great tips! Thanks for sharing. Happy Holidays my friend!
How long at 350 for a medium rare cook?
Mate, thanks for the tips! Would love to watch a video tutorial from you
gotta try that, great tip
How long at 350 for medium rare??? 4 minutes ?
I love the simple instructions and even the fact you’re not all fancy about it. Simple. Easy. Perfect tastin!
The loving pat you give to each cut of meat after you flip them... auuuuugh it's so adorable
Rachel S I care about my little fillets so I like to comfort them with that little pat.
I’ve never cooked a steak before in my life... like EVER. This helped me so much, I was so nervous while prepping everything. Thanks for also including the step-by-step in the description. I left it in the oven for a little longer bc I wasn’t sure, but it turned out super tasty!! Thank you so much!!! Literally life changing.
I'm really glad you liked the end result... It's all about learning and getting a little bit better each time. Next time you do this, you'll have it mastered! Thanks for posting your results and cheers to better steaks going forward!!!
@@JasonBolte never cooked filet mignon before. Followed your recipe and I cooked the perfect fillet! It was pretty damn good! Thanks 👍
Lmao how have yal never cooked a steak..
@@dylanperri7508 Same thought here. However, I was 40 years old before I could afford a real steak.😀

Thanks so much for this video. We live in Florida and grill outdoors a lot. This is the only way my husband wants his fillet mignon cooked. Perfect every time!!!!
Very very glad you used cast iron. I’ve seen many UA-cam chefs using non stick pans. People don’t realize how good food can be when it’s cooked on some well seasoned iron.
Caleb Smithwick I totally agree! Thanks for commenting and stay healthy my friend.
First time making steak! It turned out so incredible and was so simple. Thank you for taking the time to make this video and thank you everyone for the helpful tips in the comments.
Your welcome and thanks for watching and commenting!
Followed your instructions and it was the best steak I’ve ever made! SO delicious and cooked perfectly. Thank you!
Kat awesome! Glad you liked it!
Glad you back! Looks AMAZING!
Jason , Thank you so much !! I am in my early 60's and have never cooked a real good steak. My wife and I decided to go outside the box and do filets. I had checked your You Tube channel and went pretty much by the book this time lol. But let preface this by saying that we thought about having a very expensive restaurant make it on Xmas even and have it the next day. So basically we're paying super high dollar for reheating 1 day early steaks. Then I thought about it and said , damn , are we going to spend $150.00 to stick 2 steaks in the fridge and reheat . Decided I'm gonna do this. It was the best steak I have ever cooked in my life and my wife was also as happy with hers. Man , I agree with the guy who commented "life changing" Won't be the last time I cook them . Thanks Jason !! honestly I appreciate so much . Rob and Vanessa from Richmond , Va
You are very welcome. Merry Christmas 🎄🎁 and thank you for the very kind words! God bless.
I made these tonight and I think they were excellent! Perfectly done (for once) and well seasoned. If I had any red wine on hand I probably would have tried to make a pan sauce but quite frankly they were perfectly delicious without it.
Thank you for this video!

My First time trying it EVER! I used your method and WOW! They were amazing
Thank you 💕
I’m sorry for your loss but also congrats on making some great fillet! Thanks for watching and take care.
My man, nicely done. Do not listen to a single one of the douche bags on here criticizing you. They don’t have the balls to make a video. You did it perfect, coming from the asst to head chef at Lelli’s steak house.
John G thank you sir. Much appreciated!
Made this tonight and it was amazing! Thank you for posting!!!

Nicely done! Making a steak tonight on a cast iron skillet and I’m gonna use your 2 minutes a side and 2 more in the oven at 450. Can’t wait to eat the garlic at the end!
Michael Manion very cool. Hope you enjoy your steak!
Just saying garlic alone is gross, all opinion though

The fact you give the detailed recipe and instructions in your description as well show the whole cooking process…my cup runneth over…perfection…THANK YOU…Gordon Ramsey better watch out!
Thank you!
Will be my first time trying it! I’m sure that with these instructions it will come out just as delicious! Thank you!
Lupita Martinez good luck. Let me know what you think.
This came out really good. Wish I could post a pic. A touch rare but still grrreat!! I did season the sides and seared the sides a bit at the end, and I used grapeseed oil. the garlic was amazing.
Hey Jason I followed your instructions step by step. It came out perfect. The only thing Was that I left my filet mignon in the oven for an extra 2 minutes. This recipe was clear and concise and I highly appreciate the time you took to teach this recipe. The meat was on the medium side. Nice and pink
Thank you for the great comments and I’m happy it turned out great for you!
Onlybryan You obviously didn't follow his recipe step by step because you cooked it longer, and that's the only reason you enjoyed it. People watching this video need to realize they need to cook it longer than what he's saying or they'll likely be disappointed.
@@jayryan7473 lol, I mean I guess. Life is not all about following recipes. I left my comment to show that it worked out for me. This video helped me get a better understanding.
@@jayryan7473 jesus, you’re bitter
Better than a restaurant filet! Splurged (paid $34 for 2 -cheaper than eating out, tho) on two locally raised, thick (like yours, about 1 1/2”) filets, and followed your instructions to to “T.” OMG -they were absolutely delicious! Cooked perfectly, medium rare, and the garlic, rosemary, and thyme flavor combination was divine. My mouth is watering again just recalling every bite. Thank you so much, Jason!
That’s awesome! Thanks for sharing and I’m glad you enjoyed it! God bless!
Just came up on some fat Filet Mignon steaks and want to make em for my wife for Mother’s Day weekend and I just happened to stumble upon this video!!! Sweet! That’s awesome! Thanks for the sub! I hope I don’t disappoint you. Peace ✌️
Just made this for dinner. Seriously tasted like it was from Ruth’s Chris. I had to let my steak spend a lot more time in the oven, but that was because it was not at room temp when I cooked it. Still tasted EXCELLENT. thank you!!
Aro Dude you’re welcome! Thanks for the great comments. I appreciate your support!
I’m making tonight for my husband Valentines dinner. This is the best recipe...
Well he's a lucky man! Enjoy!
Looks really good, i bet this steak taste good as well. Love all the ingredients you used, makes the beef shines.
Jason this is the best flavored filet mignon that I've ever tasted!!! I was intimidated to cook this on my own, because I thought it would be difficult. You simplified this, and this steak taste better than any restaurant that I have ever tasted, and I have been to several high end restaurants!!! Thank you for posting!!! My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed every bite ❣❣❣

@@JasonBolte I don't know. I looked at all your vids and you cover a lot. I'm always into good steak or chicken or pork ribs. But the ribs are tough to do in the kitchen. Never come out right without doing them over charcoal, I think and/or wood. BTW...tried your filet recipe and they came out perfect med-rare. Just subscribed, so I'll be watching for new stuff. Thanks! That’s how I make my vids.
Good to hear from you it’s been so long
BZRK Koolaid thanks! What video should I do next?
Looks great but i would roll them on their sides at the start or before you added the butter to get a better sear on the sides
@Monica Jones you flip the steaks to their sides, and push them up to the side of the pan. This will allow them to sear and get a very nice crust
@Monica Jones you ever heard of constructive criticism? People like you are annoying as hell.
Agreed. No need for the oven even if you sear the sides.

Looks good, but I always sear the edges. Also, when you put it in the oven, a small grill on the bottom of the pan will prevent the cast iron from overcooking one side.

@@JasonBolte the best mac and cheese!!!!
Fantastic, I only recommend to cook it in oven and pull it out once awhile to add more high heat oil and flip it keeping it moist then on medium heat on stove top once oven cooking is done to bast it with butter and stuff. Add half butter and half olive oil and bast it other wise its way over buttered. I use to do it just like this video until I messed around with different ways to do it. Now I have over 35 steaks under my belt. And basting it for 2 min on medium heat with the seasoning and half butter and have oil was the best after finishing in oven. Imo.
Amazing video! i could almost smell it! so good
Martin Zhang Thanks! I'm glsd you liked it.
Beautiful bits of meat done really nicely and explained so well. Might have been tempted to do a sauce in the pan whilst the steaks were resting.
Need to leave steak out for at least an hour so they are room temperature. Grape seed oil let’s you get a higher heat without smoke and effecting the flavor. S&P, sear both sides and a quick rotate on the sides. After in oven put back on stove to add butter, herbs and CRUSHED GARLIC! Really want that flavor to come out. Base over and over for a couple mins. Flip and repeat. Set on rack to rest (5-7mins) with aluminum foil tent over them. Slice against the grain and enjoy! 😉😉
