The song is about those who had to leave their homes after Finland lost its territories to the Soviet Union in World War II. The narrator is a child who has 15 minutes with her/his mother to gather their belongings and leave by horse wagon and train towards the unknown. Together with other evacuees. During the journey, the little brother is born on the train. Mother and children are placed in temporary housing. After a year, they get to move into their own home. Father sends a letter from the front and says he will be home soon. Father returns, but only to be buried next to the church. At the end, the child tells her/his little brother how beautiful their home region was.
Toni Wirtanen is the singer and guitarist of the Finnish rock band Apulanta. Toni took his wife Jannika with him to the performance because he was afraid that he wouldn't be able to perform this emotional song alone.
Oh my goodness 😳
This is so emotional, I couldn't help but tear up....My love to those who were affected♥️ Together you all will/have overcome..
Thank you so much for sharing this♥️
Was about To say just you did❤️
Ukrainan People are now experiecing the same destiny. The Russian army sucks and screwing up again.
Correction, Karelian's are are NOT Finns, we are our own tribe with our own genetic heritage different to Finnish people.
@@MikiKuu You know better what you are. It's nowadays like what you feel...😁
Still, there are two provinces in Finland; South-Karelia and North-Karelia.
So maybe you live in Russian Karelia?
My mother is refugee from Karelia. I cant even understand what they feld when they had to leave the Karelia.
Oh, bless her 🙌
This song touched my soul. War is terrible and over 400 000 people from Karelia had to escape and never got their home back.
Oh my goodness, bless them❤️
Indeed, war is deleterious!
Toni Wirtanen is a popular Finnish punk and rock singer. He is also an enthusiastic national defense person and often goes to refresher exercises to conduct "war radio"
Incredible!
He's indeed phenomenal 👏
Thank you for watching and reacting to this, i really hope you would do more reactions to finnish music!
Thanks so much for watching too❤️
I'll definitely do more Finnish music
I cant listen to this song ever without crying. I cant listen to it just now either. I am half Karelian.
Oh dear! Take heart for it is well!
My love to you all ♥️
Omg. Tears on my eyes😪
@@penaarja bless you 🙏
That is another song ua-cam.com/video/PSQWUZ8a2Ho/v-deo.html
The best interpretation of Evako's song is still the version recorded by Anneli Saariston in 1985. Anneli Saaristo's ability to sing sensitively and so cleanly is just so touching that it is difficult for others to surpass it.
I have that same video with English lyrics on my channel. But this was original unedited
Oh great
Will check it out 🙏🫶
Band is Apulanta. Very popular in Finland. Now singing mr. Apulanta and hes wife.
So lovely 😍
The song is about Finnish civilians who had to flee the Russian invasion during the Second World War. About 450,000 Finnish civilians, or about 15% of Finland's population, had to be evacuated.
My love to you all ♥️
Song tells about finnish people with small children scaping russian soldiers. True story, and means so much for us, sons and grand sons of finnish veterans. And veterans of course, still some of them are alive.
Thank you for this video!
My love to you all ❤️🇫🇮
Karelians are NOT Finnish people. We are our own tribe.
@@MikiKuu Karelia is in Finland. Part of it is in Russia. Before war russian part was finnish too. And today all what is behind Finland/Russia bord should be in Russia. We don't want any of russians here, karelians or not. Stay there in putinland.
This song always gets me. My mother had to leave her home in Karelia at the age of 11.
Oh no!
My love to her 🧡
@@Esther_Ugochi_Reacts Thank you. She passed away in 2015 at the age of 87. She never talked about the war and things related. I respected that and didn’t force her to talk about it. Her little sister my aunt was sent to Sweden as a war child. She lived there several years before coming back to Finland.
@@jannekalliokoski1968 bless her soul 🙏
They sings about winter war and karelian people, who had to leave their home and escape when russia / soviet attached.
And the song is kind of true story. That happened for real.
Thanks for sharing...my ❤️ to you all
@@Esther_Ugochi_Reactsstill touching Finn's. Because we are so small nation, we are all children and grandchildren for those winter war soldiers.
Unlike in many European wars in history where the people have remained in their cities and towns and gotten new rulers that had occupied the land, Karelia was ceded to the USSR totally empty. Every Karelian moved to what was left of Finland and none remained under Soviet rule in the USSR.
The Karelians did not go to refugee camps but were soon given small farms and homes by taking land of existing farms in different parts of the country, dividing the damage of lost land in Karelia. The crises caused by 10% of the Finnish population being refugees was solved fairly fast and the Karelians started a new life away from their original home. Still many felt homesick all their lives. My mother was one of them. The song could be of her, except that his father was an officer at a supply depot and survived the war alive.
Reading this made me emotional
Thanks for sharing this with me, and my love to you all ♥️
My mother from Karelia i relate this she was evacuated
Oh bless her
Finland 1939 and Ukraine 2022 it's very sad. My mom's two brothers died in the war against Russia😪😪
They were young men 22 and 26 and both died 1943.
Young tony was punk singer if I remember.
Oh really!
Did you have the translation of the lyrics?
Yes,I do
