They were one of the most popular live acts of the 70s.After Woodstock they toured europe, japan and of course the states .Janis Joplin,Hendrix,Lennon Harrison and Alice Coooper all attended Sha Na Na concerts. They broke the Stones attendence record at every venue they played in during their uk tour of 1971. Saw them perform 5 times between 1971 and 1976.Keith Moon was thier emcee on a couple of occasions.Truly one of the great live acts. They definatley didnt fall out of sight.
I can’t believe that I’m barely discovering Sha na na. I’m absolutely blown away by their talent and sound. They are the best coverband and entertainment group that I’ve ever seen/heard.
@rich1050 It's been a treasure trove finding these clips on UA-cam. They were great in the day and still a pleasure to watch now. Some might think it cornball but I will take it over the junk you see today any time. They were the best cover band in musical history, doing songs better than the originals. That to me, says it all. Grease for Peace is a slogan that is all theirs.
It's just amazing how much individual talent they had and they combined it really well. They were the best! I watched them when I was a kid in the 70's. They were on once a week so you watched the show! You couldn't tape it and watch it later. Well, you could if you had one of those brand new Beta Max machines! Sha Na Na still rocks! Th.. th.. that's all folks!
Did you see the clip where Ginger rejected Johnny's idea to spend the whole day hugging and kissing in his car? I confessed I wouldn't have minded doing that myself!
Pretty cool video....fun to watch. I like how they performed the song in the same style as the Great Drifters. Very respectful, thumbs up to Sha Na Na!!!!!
That popcorn fight at the end was REALLY funny, and I couldn't believe Lennie kept some popcorn inside his saxophone! The popcorn would blow right out of it!
I love the Shanana videos you've posted! I would like DVD's but then I would miss out on all of the frank and useful discourse I have read on You Tube, whatever shall I do?
OMG! I remember watching Sha Na Na on tv when I was a kid. My little brother used to do a Bowser impersonation and looked just like him! We'd laugh and laugh... I wish someone would put the rest of the shows on here, not just the songs, like the skits and stuff.
If anyone knows where I can find full episodes of "The Shanana Show", I've been looking for 35 years! This was my favorite show when I was a kid, and would give anything to see them again. Grease for Peace!
This guy is great, I guess he never got the attention, due to the lack of hair, what a shame. Bowser is one of the best base guys but I think he thought he was the group. Its a shame, they all were talented ! We need a Sha na na today bad !
There is no such thing as a "British" accent! There are English accents, Welsh accents, and Scottish accents, and each of these have various dialects. The American cariacature of the so called "British" accent is just that!
Calm down, celtusguy. I've heard many American accents butchered by British actors and comedians over the years. And don't get me started when you Brits try to do a New York or a Southern accent. It's usually insulting.

I don't get it.

I audio taped it! Still have the cassettes!
I wouldn't mind rolling around in the popcorn with Santini. Bring ... it ... on!
Did you see the clip where Ginger rejected Johnny's idea to spend the whole day hugging and kissing in his car? I confessed I wouldn't have minded doing that myself!
That was a great show. I can't believe that it's never come out on DVD. They'd make tons of money!!
I agree! It's all about "legal stuff!"
Loooved watching this show in the 80's as a kid back home in New Zealand .
This made me miss the show a lot! LOVED the ending!
The best way to spend a Saturday evening ... watching and listening to SHA NA NA. Fabulous song. Thanks for the video

Johnny is amazing!
He always is, and he always will be!

Seay Santini! More than just a pretty face! Talent and brains too!
,love this skit! Love handsome Santini!
Pretty cool video....fun to watch. I like how they performed the song in the same style as the Great Drifters. Very respectful, thumbs up to Sha Na Na!!!!!
I'm sure they also had their differences.
best Sha Na Na clip on UA-cam
Santini was awesome!
Absolutely love these guys!
Me, too!
man havnt seen this in ages lol sweet!
Took my mom to see them live, for her birthday. She loved it.
My dad took me to see one of their concerts, and I loved it!
I love Danny in the back trying to hold the popcorn in his teeth. 😂
That's was so cool thanks for the fans okay 👍 you guys sing so good 👍😊
Scott did this better than the original. Fantastic. He also did Elvis with aplomb.
awesome
That popcorn fight at the end was REALLY funny, and I couldn't believe Lennie kept some popcorn inside his saxophone! The popcorn would blow right out of it!
what a hunk and he can sing too.
Shanana baby yes✌️
When will these Shanana clips be available on a DVD???? They are absolutely BRILLIANT and Bowzer is my favourite!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It STILL hasn't happened, and it's very disappointing!
Happy Thanksgiving to you guys sha na na
They also were in the movie GREASE.
Yes! They played Johnny Casino & The Gamblers!
I love the Shanana videos you've posted! I would like DVD's but then I would miss out on all of the frank and useful discourse I have read on You Tube, whatever shall I do?
Go visit their website!

Looks like Johnny likes a little shake with his popcorn... :)
I prefer butter on my popcorn, and Johnny seems happy!
Who doesn't want Bowzer?!!!!!!! I love him!!!!
Don't forget Johnny - he's irresistible, too!
Grease for Peace!
If anyone knows where I can find full episodes of "The Shanana Show", I've been looking for 35 years! This was my favorite show when I was a kid, and would give anything to see them again. Grease for Peace!
Go to their website. They have all the answers.
@@LisaKoffler Thank you! I should have thought of that.
How low can they go. Sad end to a wonderful band.
I did some research and found out that they still perform today. The group consists of Donny, Jocko, Screamin' Scott, and some new members.
Yes! The new members are "Downtown" Michael Brown, Tim Butler, Ty Cox, and Randy Hill. All I had to do was go to their website to learn about it.
Me just miss you jacko
Me too :).
The Neverending Story... LMAO
i am only 28 and prefer music from 1950s better music mind you 60s 70 and 80s as well
Don't forget the '90s - they weren't bad, either!
Whoa!!! Johnny backside.....let me at it!
MORE than enough girls want MORE than just his backside!
Johnny looks right out of the Sesame Street greaser skit "One Way"
He's drop dead gorgeous!
Which one is Robert Leonard? He's now a forensic linguist.
Вот это задор! Вот это я понимаю! Высший пилотаж!
well done Santini, wonder if Bowser would sing such a song?
Bowzer's bass voice does best with parts of songs requiring bass voices.
is it just me or does Danny play a sexy Native american?
Santini Was HOT!!!
This guy is great, I guess he never got the attention, due to the lack of hair, what a shame. Bowser is one of the best base guys but I think he thought he was the group. Its a shame, they all were talented ! We need a Sha na na today bad !
Scott Powell (Santini) went on to become a well known doctor. He also has his own band.
Hair isn't everything, and NONE of them got the recognition they deserved because they were a cover band!
i'd really like to read a book-length bio on sha na na, or memoirs by one of the former members. has anything like that been published?
Good question! Sha Na Na's website might have the answer!
Pamela, I'll buy all the tickets you have left if you'll share a bucket of popcorn with me in the balcony...I'll bring the butter...
Santini Is HOT!!!!
just stumbled on this vid, who are sha na na?
They're a cover band who sang mostly '50s and '60s music. Most of the time, they did it better than the originals.
Bowzer does a British accent pretty well! I'm freakin' surprised!
I'm not! He's capable of doing anything he wants!
I would've liked being in the back row with Dan!
Sigh. Its those eyes!
@Atomsk3 hey, thanks!
Damn I need sum Fuckin popcorn now
no,he said saturday night at the movies.
I think Bowzer could take the Fonze in a rumble 4Show 💯
Maybe, maybe not.
What was the show called?
Sha Na Na
Who doesn't?
I want Bowzers jacket...
@chrisdel157 I want Bowzer...

Er, I want Santini's outfit ;)
nah on Bowser, lol give me Jocko
Give me Johnny!
i had such a crush on Santini when I was a little girl. I thought he was the sexiest.
It's all about individual tastes! My biggest crush was on Johnny!
If I were Ginger, I'd grab that delectable bit of "Yankee trash" and hightail it to the South!
Lol. I'd rather have the chief! Lol
Unable to share
santini powelll is the shit
@savcdosavcdo
Danny plays everything sexy!! His Native name shoud be Hot Strings.
@tsugarplumfairy1 i want johnny lol
MORE than enough girls want Johnny!
Doesn't eating popcorn make your mouth too dry to sing? I guess not.
I'm sure they drank some water to keep their mouths moist!
There is no such thing as a "British" accent! There are English accents, Welsh accents, and Scottish accents, and each of these have various dialects.
The American cariacature of the so called "British" accent is just that!
Americans have different accents around the country.
my guinea pig tried to delete this video
They lip sung!
It kept going e'en though he was throwing and bending.
Calm down, celtusguy. I've heard many American accents butchered by British actors and comedians over the years. And don't get me started when you Brits try to do a New York or a Southern accent. It's usually insulting.
NO ONE likes being insulted just because of the way they talk!
drifters version is better..
That's just your opinion.
@@LisaKoffler I'm more just impressed I got a reply to a 9 year old comment 😅😂
@chrisdel157 I want Bowzer....
