    9:29 Yeah I figured that something like that must be the case after I started watching, I just never imagined you'd actually tell us (this isn't a bad thing). Always nice, when I first started watching your show, there is tons of things I didn't understand about what I was seeing on screen, especially the Graphical User Interface, and how anything worked mechanically.
    11:51 Spell Table is a great resource for us, we also use Moxfield to proxy digital decks, when we don't have camera setups for paper, or want to test new decks out.
    13:50 is it weird I feel like now that he has moved you should take asia, a continent you wont' be allowed to keep. I really do get frustrated with this map, I want them to split asia into a north and south for bonuses.
    1 minute later: Yes I'm aware it's a bad idea, i just... it's tempting.
    16:19 here is an interesting question, do you as black set up a blockade in canada (3 territories) to cardblock, forcing them to fortify to go out through africa or bring more troops out of the bottom mexico hold.
    17:54 WOW... He, did just that. Whoa.
    25:18 I've been wanting you to bring that green north asian territory west, to close the noose on the asia you aren't taking. I find it very fun.
    27:15 it's now 103 Orange, 100 Green and 121 Magenta, but whoo wee, we'll see. with after this turn everyone will have 3 cards, it's something alright.
    31:01 Take Asia. Please. I just want to see it, with a big stack in the middle east, and if you need to card north america. I just. thought you'd take it as soon as he backed off. Shrug? I know it's not the ideal play.

    Reminds me of my first Ranked game ever. I just started playing recently. My best spawn was NA so I tried to patiently take it. That didn't work out so I moved to Europe gained control and set up the 1 central stack interior guard.
    I did this while in the final 3 Yellow had SA and Africa, Black Australia and Asia. They was in a war and my strat was to take cards in NA and stack trying to catch up. Like you say stay out of trouble.
    After having my Europe for several turns Yellow started breaking me. I gave him multiple chance to give me something but kept breaking me and Black left me alone lol.
    Finally I said screw it and full sent into Yellow helping Black kill him. I got the kill the gave Black a good game. Finished 2nd. Yellow was a Grandmaster, Black was a Master.

    Interesting game! I learned a lot about where stacks were placed to block opponent actions on various sides and how that affected the outcome. One thing I don't understand is why you passed up several opportunities to pop 1 army in the Middle East to take Asia. Even if you know they're going to pop it back if you can't fully setup a defense, what's the harm in laying the temporary threat of the bonus? Thanks for all the fun vids

    • @lightlayagajoie5739
      @lightlayagajoie5739 9 місяців тому +3

      it probably has to do with psychology. they might not break and then view you as too strong. or someone will feel forced to break you and then anticipate a retaliation and so attack you more or point their stack at you. this isn't an exact science you sort of have to guess what your opponents are thinking

    Hey Pete, learning Risk through your channel has been a pleasure. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and thoughts as you play. I am trying to understand why you split your troops the way you did. I am a dirty (noob) intermediate, so... that explains my question I am sure. Why give the easier path to take your bonus with the significantly lower troop count in India? I do get that you have the bigger stack to punish the play if someone chose that, but does it not leave it open to the trolls to just smash through? At least in my games it seems people will push well past their ability to hold just to punish anyone they can. When I saw that, I immediately thought someone would push through it. Thanks for any feedback!

    • @TheKillPeteStrategy
      @TheKillPeteStrategy  9 місяців тому +1

      The large single stack is threatening and mobile. It doesn't defend my bonus as well in a hard sense. It defends it by saying 'hit me and I'll hit you back'
      But having it be open allows me to make kills when I need to or move to a better part of the board

    Pete, you are clearly a very good player, but your FFA W/L record defies statistical probability.
    It's obvious that most GMs have achieved their ranking by using multiple accounts.
    In your case, it's especially egregious because you have monetized you ranking.
    At the moment, the game is rife with both multi account cheating and player collaboration -- which makes your W/L record all the more implausible.
    Good luck. You seem like a great guy -- but the math don't lie.

    • @TheKillPeteStrategy
      @TheKillPeteStrategy  9 місяців тому +1

      I agree that my stats dont make sense. The discrepancy you see has two main reasons:
      Years ago the leaderboard had ffa and 1v1 combined. When they separated all the stats were counted as ffa.
      Also players were a lot worse than they are today so I used to be able to get 90%+ winrates playing FFA Progressive WD before I taught everyone how to play it. Risk theory has come a long way thanks to YT, Twitch and Discord.
      I have never had any Risk account suspended for cheating in almost four years in the game. I am a very passionate advocate for fairplay in the game but I completely understand how you can look at my stats and say 'that's impossible' because in todays enviroment it is.

      @@mrc2222 I assume it's because orange and magenta had mini stacks occupying 2 border territories there (29:44). I would guess the issue was that it's a gamble on them complying with moving them out, all while giving up his only home. In this losing state however, it might have been worth a try to mix up fate (easy to just say in hindsight). whichever of them that might then move in to Australia might draw aggro from the other (specially magenta if holding 3), which is good since promoting a sui or war between them is likely the win condition, like how magenta won. Beside that and suiciding to secure 2nd, the only other option is just to stack in oz/anywhere and hope they just eventually sui on their own relatively soon, which also isn't fun, boring and barely playing, and still might lose in 3rd.
