aw man... just realized that one of the ways the alien oppressors kept control over their human pet contestants was to have them form genuine bonds and friendships in childhood so that they would be reluctant to escape without them... because it's easier to escape on your own VS the much more impossible task of saving your friends. Such an effective but insidious method of control..
2:46 In that moment, when Ivan saw Til running back to their alien captors, all because he couldn’t leave Mizi behind, all because he chose Mizi over him and _freedom_ itself, his face looks like he’s thinking, “Yeah. You would do that.” Because that kind of tenacity and stubborn devotion despite all the odds stacked against Til is why he fell in love with the boy. It just hurts because it will never be for him.
But also Mizi loved the girl from her video so she’d never love Til either which also hurts. I just want all of them to be happy but unfortunately that won’t be the case T3T
Ivan's face when he watches Till running back to their captors is so heartbreaking. Like he expected this from Till, and worse yet, he knows he himself will run after him. Adoration and frustration culminating in a sad, resigned longing.
Ivan's backstory as I understand it is: - he was owned by an abusive merchant (the alien who held him over the edge of the roof) - you can see them auction him off when there's that blue square behind him (you can see the other kids next in line, as well as an alien holding a mic), -he gets bought and pampered by a rich alien (we see rich alien at 2:12; the hand matches the hand that was on our boy at 1:12, he just doesn't look as big because he's next to other big aliens) - he gets shown off to the rich alien's other rich friends (he's holding what looks like an award or maybe that's the invitation to join the singing camp/boarding school) - he was put by rich alien in Anakt Garden, a singing boarding school (which seems to be a required prerequisite to joining the ALIEN STAGE contest. Can't join the contest otherwise) -Till and Mizi accidentally run towards an exit(?)/forbidden area when they were chasing a flower crown that got blown by the wind--a guard dog alien beats Till up. - he's amazed as Till FIGHTS BACK against the alien (compared to himself whose always been passive), and probably continued to be amazed by Till's continued rebellion beyond this point. - inspired by Till, he later tries to escape and run away with him during a meteor shower as his first act of rebellion, but Till presumably doesn't wanna leave Mizi behind and goes back. - our boy laughs bittersweetly and heads back as well since his inspiration + love + reason for trying to escape in the first place just went back.
Also I would like to point out something at 2:28 when till woke up he saw the screen of Ivan winning and then a flashback the lyrics went like this: “Such black, black sorrow And you, you are always for me Black sorrow To me you are Black sorrow To me you are Black sorrow” => the entire time during these lines Ivan was pointing at most likely Till. He also let his emotions slip when it comes to directly confronting Till at 2:47 and then tried to composed himself
I love how this video actually confirms a previous theory! During this song, Ivan allows another person to sing, meaning the whole time the songs are meant to be sung by sections by each person. This means the white hair dude (2nd video) took up all the song time. Whilst the 2 girls sung their song together as a duet to try and trick the system into getting the same score (and failed), which makes me wanna cry more :((

@@Jac_mx03 I'm hoping he's still alive because he is a favorite of the aliens, I'm sure they paid to make sure he lives. Someone mentioned Ivan was the favorite because if you notice when they were kids, only Ivan had no collar. Even growing up, Till had it except him. (at the bar). The aliens that adopted him might just discipline him 🥲🥲 *me on copium*
Coming back here after round 6 is just so devastating because with each line Black Sorrow seems more and more like Cure… literally each word perfectly captures Ivan’s unreciprocated love for Till… :( and the fact that Till actually wears BLACK in round 6 is like another punch in the gut… 😭
@@SaeahJeje this series is called alien stage where basically aliens keep humans as their "pets" and they have these competition where two humans sing against each other and the loser is killed Ofc there is a lore so you should watch it in order to understand more Idk if this will help but yeah
I absolutely LOVE 2:47 where it looks like Ivan accidentally let his actual emotions slip into his singing, and he immediately tries to compose himself. The sorrow in his face turning to frustration, then finally to his usual cool apathetic expression. That's sooo gorgeous
Ngl this might just be the most beautiful piece of animation I've ever seen. Not even kyoani has made me feel a character's emotion from their expressions as well as this...vivinos and qmeng are truly masters at their craft
tbh i didnt expect myself to be this attached to ivan. When he was first introduced in the alien stage trailer i thought that he's the smooth and manipulative type of character. But looking at his round i somehow find him quite relatable. He might seems quite apathetic but he's actually just bottling up his feelings, his love and admiration for till, and his sorrow...
this exactly. this is also why i kinda hope he doesn't become smooth/manipulative during the stage with till the way some people are theorizing in the comments. i think it would be more heartbreaking and more accurate to what we can glean of him from this video to not want to battle till.
Yes, I also had the first impression that he was some sort of antagonist. But on the contrary, he seems to be the most talented and smart. His poker face is more of a survival skill than anything.
The amount of passion Vivnos manages to put in the eyes of her characters is something I can never get over, you can see their madness, their sorrow, their longing and it makes me absolutely feral since each character is so different
I like how Till's song ends with drums whereas Ivan's starts with them, as if one was meant to be a continuation of the other, like Till's rebellion could only naturally result in Ivan's yearning. I think the power of this song comes from the bitter-sweet irony of their dynamic. At first, we see that Ivan, despite his situation, still longed for freedom, even if it meant the end of everything, symbolised by the shooting stars that may shine brightly and beautifully while they run through the dark sky, but are still fated to crash in the most destructive way. Yet, his will seemed to disappear slowly as time went by, he became numb, years of use and abuse turned him into a singing puppet traded and paraded by his masters. Until he crossed path with Till, who unapologetically kept his free spirit and fighting will despite the punishments and the risks for his very life (though we can easily guess that his only saving grace is his value as a singer). Ivan could only fall for him, the embodiment of his repressed desires, to the point of trying to save him and run away together. And we can see that both of them seem truly happy, maybe for the first time since a long time, while a rain of meteors crashes around them, the culmination of this freedom they were after, knowing that could cost them their life if they are found out before managing to leave. But then a realisation hits Till, most likely the fact that he can't stand leaving Mizi behind even if it means giving up his only chance of realising his dream of freedom. And Ivan, understanding that the person he saw as his symbol of hope not only loved someone else enough to stay in a place he hated, but also turned out to be a willing prisoner because of the very feelings that gave him the will to fight, can only smile bitterly yet longingly: it didn't change how he felt for Till, and he too found himself unable to run away without him. The tenderness and resignation of his gaze at this moment is such a masterpiece of artistry that every time I watch it my stomach is tied in knots and I have a lump in my throat 😭 In the end the shooting star rain he dreamt about all his life only resulted in a black sorrow for him,and the fact that he knows he will have to compete against Till in the next round makes everything even more heartbreaking This one is definitely my favourite in the series so far. While "My Clematis" was the last love song of two lovers who wanted to share this final moment and "Unknown - 'til the end" was a declaration of both love and war no matter the consequences, Ivan's song is the pinnacle of everything that makes Alien Stage so fascinating, it's a tale of tragedy, of an unrequited love, an unattainable dream and a fate none of them can fight against. Yet they all give their best, to give a meaning to their performances, to take this chance to express the things they could never express before... I think I'm gonna cry lmao
bro... you made me cry even more 😭 how did I only now realise Ivan, just like Till, also came back to the place he hated to be with the one he can't leave behind? damn... also I wonder what heartbreaking story the character at the end is going to have 😀
Notice how Ivan sees Till like the 'stars,' he adores him so much yet his feelings are basically a shadow, "you can't reach a star so you can only observe from afar" 1:58 lol im feeling poetic today
And then the line from Clematis: “The Galactic Star dust in your eyes spreads out.” Which we see in Ivan’s eyes but yeah, the association of stars with Till…reflected in his eyes. Brings to mind a line from one of Pink Bitch Club that’s something like “see the love reflected there” 😢 The falling stars we get in this one and then the rain in round 6…kill me.
its fascinating how all of them are just kind of... unaware of each other. like, in round one, we're only shown the girls and their friendship and how much they mean to one another. in Till's song, all of the memories he's focusing on to sing are about Mizi and i don't think we even see Ivan. which is weird considering Ivan literally broke them both out of whatever prison they were in and tried to *free* them both from captivity. and in Ivan's song, he sees Till and Mizi, but in the beginning, he didn't take an interest in Till until he saw him rebel. Ivan was more or less just going through the motions, resigned to his imprisonment. he only took notice of Mizi at all because Till liked her it's just so interesting how it appears like they were all raised/imprisoned together but all of their stories hardly intertwine, only focusing on one other person at most despite the fact that there are so many other kids around them
If you take into account the fact that they most likely know from the begining that they will have to fight against each other in a competition where the losers will die, it's quite obvious they either weren't encouraged to form deep relationships or they ended up by themselves avoiding getting too close to people who could potentially become their opponent. That makes the only person they can't help gravitating towards (reciprocally or not) even more so special, I guess
Interesting take, I would argue tho, that each story is beautifully intertwined, instead of them all being separate stories, all characters are connected in some way.

i like how ivan seeing till run back after they escape directly parallels their first meeting, where ivan follows till from curiosity and inevitably later on as he follows from his newfound love and attachment towards him. like he's forever destined to follow till, now more than ever as he immediately turns around after noticing till's ran back the constant flickering from ivan witnessing till fight back and thinking back to the meteor shower, is honestly so nicely done. ivan's constant focus on the meteor shower symbolizes his yearning for freedom, and alike the desire for the meteors is his infatuation with till. unfortunately, even if he did escape, ivan would've had no means of surviving in that world as a kid against aliens, ultimately his yearning fot freedom is simply an unlikely dream just like how his desire for till is too - seeing till run back presumably because he couldn't leave mizi (pink hair girl) made him realize that. he yearns for till like he yearns for meteors/freedom, these are two things he knows he cannot have.
Not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet, but at 2:28, Till only just wakes up from being retrained after round 2. He missed the majority of the song and Ivan's feelings, and I think Ivan might have known that it would be this way. He was watching Till at the end of round 2 as he passed out. Till probably still doesn't understand... ouch
Ivan, thus far, is not only the guy who got the highest points, overhelming the rival, but also didnt play any trick like trying to sing a due nor ... smashing the rival head haha.
I don't think Till has smashed his opponent head He has just smashed(and killed) his Alien guitar named Freddy. The only trick was that he didn't let his opponent sing. For me, He probably killed Freddy to end the round and that would explain why his music is shorter than the others round. (Sorry for my poor English)
just realized this is literally the only “normal” round so far out of the four… round one mizi and sua sang the entire song together, in round two till stole all the lines (and smashes his guitar), and mizi goes missing in round five
What I find interesting with this video is that we see more about the format of the Alien Stage competition. At 1:35, Ivan has to wait until his opponent is done singing for himself to start, so the competition is probably set so that each person gets their own spotlight singing before the voting is done. This is intresting because if this is the case, then both Mizi and Til technically broke the rules of the Alien Stage competition. Mizi singing at the same time as Sua (not taking separate turns), and Til not giving his opponent a chance to sing at all.
it confirms everyone's speculation from the last two videos! Mizi and Sua wanted to win together and break the system somehow, so they sang in duo. which is why Mizi was so shocked when Sua died; she wasnt expecting to be the sole winner. and Till didn't let his opponent sing, not just because Til sang the whole thing, but because he wasnt singing the song that they were supposed to sing, so his opponent didnt know how to join in
I was wondering why Til's song was only 2 minutes long. That was cause he literally only sang half his song before killing his opponent. That also explained why his opponent was surprised when he walked forward first, cause he was supposed to sing second but he's not allowing any chances from the beginning. What a nice attention to detail
@@dandanthedandan7558 i think it was confirmed that rather than killing his opponent himself (altho since he won the other dude probably got killed regardless) the guitar was another ailen hence the guts and blood - imo tils goal was probably just to get the other dude to shut up so he wouldnt have the chance to start singing

The scene at 2:34 makes it seem like Ivan was able to save Till and they were able to escape but Till decided to run back causing Ivan to follow… its so sad you can tell ever since Ivan met Till he’d do anything for him but Till isn’t as enamored as he is since his heart lies elsewhere. Ivans facial expressions are also very sad you can tell how much emotion he has bottled up when it comes to Till. Everything is so bittersweet 😭 People might be like what if Ivan dies for Till but what if its the other way around, Ivan has become so obsessed with not being able to control him and have him so he ends up taking Tills life into his own hands since he feels he can gain a sense of control and longing over Till… their characters are so chiefs kiss…. They should also kiss
@@icac0103 I agree but part of me feels like till vs mizi is very predictable … i like the thought of ivan vs mizi since they both have lost the person they love the most i think they will hold the other more as the source of their sadness and even tho it was not the other person fault still place this blame since they have no other outlit but to kill the other… idk in the end what happens im sure will be super interesting
The amount of emotions held in their eyes is hesrtbreaking. Beautiful animation. This hits entirely different when I'm watching this after seeing Round 6.

I adore how he is calm and collected; knowing his value, and patiently awaiting his competitor to finish. It's a perfect juxtaposition to his crush who just decides to kill the competition.
I agree, although I'm pretty sure that Till didn't kill his opponent- his guitar was apparently some form of alien life itself so the imagery was literal and not metaphorical there haha
Clematis: Two lovers professing their love (and in the last verse) mourning that they can’t be together forever Unknown ‘Till the end: A profession of love and a will to fight no matter what. To have his voice heard. (Ironically unnoticed by the only person it was meant for) Black Sorrow: Resigned pain knowing what could’ve been vs what is reality. The understanding that he wants the unattainable. (Till’s affection & freedom) I love how all the songs tie closely to love and wants but are all different perspectives and emotions. Amazing.
I love you noticed that. Exactly, it's a "Black Sorrow" so deep you can't escape, because unrequited love drags you down.😢 Ivan definitely knew how it would end for him. He looks confident he will win this and move on to face Till. This song is his confession, and Cure is his goodbye.😭 I just hope Till realizes someday that this song was for him.
I think the shooting stars show up as imagery to symbolize ivan realizing how beautiful and special life is/when he feels alive (when he nearly dies (0:34), when he sees Till for the first time fighting (1:53 - 2:03 ) vs when he's showed in adoration and rewards but feels nothing (1:11 - 1:15)) but when Till pulls away from him, we see shooting stars for what they really are. Burning hunks of rock that rain destruction down upon where they hit. And maybe that shift in visuals is meant to represent Ivan realizing the brutality of the life he's stuck in and feeling sorrow (when Till rejects him) compared to the apathy he usually feels for everything. And maybe the shooting stars represent him as a whole. From a distance, they are cool, otherworldly and beautiful, but in truth they are fire-ensconced destruction just like how Ivan looks so serene and alien from the outside but he's really burning up inside and for Till EDIT: okay subtitles are on now so I have additions. I guess from the lyrics, Ivan sees himself as the inky darkness and Till as the shining light and that Till's brightness and liveliness further highlights how empty Ivan is, especially since Ivan cannot reach out to him (0:50-1:00). Ivan is aware that he and Till can never have a happy ending, that there is NO happy ending for this story. So alternative interpretation: the meteor showers represent Till to Ivan. Till is the shiny light in in the darkness of Ivan's existence. The more Ivan sees Till, the greater the emptiness of Ivan's life deepens in contrast. Furthermore--going with the Till is the meteor shower theory--that's why there can be no happy ending, why there is only "a cold spot stained in blood", because while meteors are beautiful while they burn, they eventually burn out. Till cannot burn forever; he is fated to burn out into a cold husk. His life, his fight, is beautiful and shocking but ephemeral at best. The traits that Ivan loves Till for are the very same traits that will ensure their story's tragic ending. For at that Till makes Ivan feel alive, Ivan seems certain that he will be the only one alive at the end. also just the fact that Ivan only seems to feel emotion when he faces death is something notable (0:50 over the edge, 1:53-2:01 witnessing the monster dog, 2:08 on the stage singing to live)
2:37 Till looks apologetic, but when Ivan turns around, Till has already left. Ivan didn't see Till's face. It just seems to Ivan that he has left. How painful and sad……!!!!!!!

So far, we can tell that Ivan loves the stars, and I think that was made clear in the teaser I suppose. Ivan most prolly likes Till bc of Till's rebellious nature and his curious mind, and I think that's bc Ivan never really had that chance....he never had that chance to rebel due to the way he was treated by the aliens. In Ivan's video, we do learn more about the nature of the aliens and other "members." I think in the part where Ivan and Till run away, Till's infatuation with Mizi stopped him from running away, (I also believe that the meteor shower was supposed to be a distraction).
I just realized here 1:04 u can see Ivan crying his expression almost as if he's given up on struggling but is also scared of dying at the same time. Yet, he seems to be encouraged/inspired/empowered by the shooting stars; almost as if thinking "Wow, there's still something so beautiful left in this cruel world". Then, later when he watches Till, u can see him referencing the stars (something so dazzling bring color into his life yet unattainable at the same time just like a shooting star). Ai, my hearts aching so bad..... Especially after Round 6.... (T.T)
Not long ago, a friend let me borrow his phone. I listened to this song like 21 times in a row. Funny thing was that he wore earbuds connected to the phone too, and I forgot about that, so he had to listen to my obsession until he was like “How many times are we going to listen to this?” Honestly though he must have loved it too to mention it so late-
This is so unexpected from what I thought his story would gonna be unhinged or obssesive concept due to his character in Vivinos twitter's art, I mean he look like those calm psychopath...but damn his story is more ralateable and touchable. He's just a guy who want to survive with his loved one but got rejected immediately. He is surprisingly emotional... Now I feel bad for all of them😭 good job Vivi😔
I cannot express how much i love the way vivinos represent feelings, it hits really different from a simple "I'm sad", ivan appreciating life and the world he lives in, then realizing how harsh and brutal it is, and that the stars he grew to love were nothing but burning meteors, how everything clicked when till rejected him, till knew how fucked up their world is, so he fights against it, and that made ivan admire him considering ivan never fought against it, he even was ok with dying as we saw, he was like a puppet that played nice, and although not necessarily showing appreciation for being showered with attention, but also didn't protest against it, this is truly a masterpiece as usual vivinos!
So from this, we can definitely say that the girls and Till rebelled. In the first video, the girls sang together to try and get the same score and live while Till stole the show. It seems like Ivan is more passive and he knows he's going to win, so he plays by the rules.
I sort of believe that in round 6, at first, Ivan wanted Till to die with him, just like he wanted Till to escape with him. But he didn’t hurt Till for obvious reasons and Till went back, just like when they ran away. Ivan doesn’t visually follow Till back in Black Sorrow. Just like how he’s dead and won’t be returning in Round 6- he wanted to take Till with him but Till didn’t go and left him? I’m thinking way too much about this now 😭
@@Zahaveron many people seem to think that ivan wanted to bring till down with him in round 6, to the point where even the wiki adresses this. it would answer why ivan kept choking till even after seeing his low score, and knowing he’s a little obsessive, i wouldn’t exactly doubt that he had that thought at some point.
@@slytherinlady3907he is indeed obsessive, but if you would look on Till's neck there was no scar or something that shows he meant to kill him... some comments said that he did that to save Till, which seems true cause he even peck his lips before he choke in blood and while he himself choking his neck, his eyes also soften after he knew he will die and he is the one who's eliminated instead of Till

everything from the design of ivan is really amazing like you can see how his despair turns to astonishment upon seeing the night sky in the outer galaxy which gradually turns to hope and while being with till as well, i just love this and hope some miracle happen in their showdown and no one dies even tho i know that's just wishful thinking
Black sorrow is a metaphor for love here. Before he met the Til he never really had any hope or desires. But after seeing Til have so much passion and fight against the system he started to see him as a human embodiment of the shooting stars shown at the start showing that Till had reinspired hope and desire in him. It was at that point he also started to feel "love" which wasn't positive for him since it was unrequited hence why it's referred to as Black sorrow. This whole performance is his way of trying to dismiss Til and say that to him he represents nothing but sadness even though Til is the only thing that has literally made his eyes twinkle lol. I feel like their singing battle will most likely be him forcing Til to notice him as despite pretending Til is just sadness to him, he's still obviously obsessed with him. Til will be trying to get pink haired girls attention so I really see both of them dying or neither of them winning as they both have unrequited love.

Okay whoa, it's finally here! I'm sure other people dissected the video better than me. Still, I would like to mention the overwhelming emotions in Ivan from 2:45 -2:51 . That was SO gorgeous and really proved that Ivan has the control to switch back to apathy, regardless of the circumstance. This makes me a bit worried, though, because his eventual battle against Till could very likely end up with him dying for Till because of his strong emotions towards Till and his seemingly smooth "switch" from emotional to apathetic. Not to mention, he has even more incentive to die in regards to rebellion against the expectations of his supposed abusive "owner." And not to further mention, It's even more heartbreaking when you realize that Ivan has such a deep, unrequited love for Till, conveyed PERFECTLY by the bittersweet/bitter tone. I love how in this round we just attribute shooting stars with Ivan. Because shooting stars are made for wishing and all Ivan wishes is to be with Till which is why every single memory Ivan has as a kid is abt him. I find this adorable.

I don't know if anyone said anything about the singer or not but the way Park Byeong Hoon sang the song is just marvelous. He portraited the emotions of Ivan so beautifully in his voice. And the pause in 2:33 was done so perfectly. When he was singing " And you, you are always for me Black sorrow ". It was heart touching. Love the song absolutely and the singer did an admirable job at singing the song with so much emotion.
I am entranced by Ivan's reaction when Til turns and runs back to the city after Ivan breaks him out. There's sadness, but he smiles as he watches Til run back. Like he understands Til can't run away, perhaps even understanding that he's not who Till truly wants to be with. And seeing that demonstrated in front of him makes him happy, because it's who Til truly is. Ivan can't run away with Til and be together because because of who Til is. Yet if Til could run away with him, he wouldn't be the person Ivan fell in love with. What a perfect little tragedy Ivan is trapped in.
A song that makes my heart clench making me feel sad, distressed and full of anguish, pain and disconsolation. I believe there is no greater torture and suffering for me than the love Ivan has for Till. I just want to take these feelings and throw them far away from here. Mannnn...Till is his starry night. But he left him like a shooting star... Beautiful yet for a short time +omg wait so I can understand the lyrics "You are my black sorrow" Sooo in Ivan's perspective, he loves Till but Till left him, so Ivan's emotion towards Till is kinda bittersweet... You guys can feel his anger and disappointment for not being able to 'have', or just simply be with Till. This is freakin sad +When I first saw the trailer and analyzed the old series of Allen Stage I guessed Ivan is just simply trying to express his hidden feeling towards Till (since he knows Till loves the girl) Now, I believe he is going to fight Till with both love and hate in the next stage... However, we can tell that what motivates Ivan to win and meet Till in the next competition is based on love.
Idc what people think about this song but this is a masterpiece. For me, what a good song is that makes you feel all of the feelings at the same time. I wish i could experience black sorrow for the first time again. Like bro, when this song starts to play my heart aches.
Omg this was so beautiful. A bit weird that it dosen't have captions like the two other videos but still even without understanding whats being sung I could feel the emotion just like dripping off every frame in this animation. Tho something I noticed this video had much less animation and more still yet moving images compared to the 2 other videos which I feel like is such a good contrast since the previous video it was just so full of animation motion and so fast paced and this is such an opposite to that. Also I can't wait to see what the new character's story is gonna be
Probably they will come later, they might had a bit of a last minute rush. I don't mind because they delivered quality and tbh is a good experience to see how good you understand a song before the subs come. I think i managed to understand 80% of the lore without ✌️
I'm mesmerised by how a 4 min video can tell more of story than most of shows nowadays, that scene of till chasing after a pink flowercrown, the same one tht we see in previous video sua giving to mizi, and then till clenching into it all beaten up, its so hurtful and clear, he chose to go run back to a dark scary no future path ignoring Ivan who was facing towards a forest, its so beautiful, and foreshadowed the next scene where he turned back again, I can't emphasise how hyped I am for this and how much I was looking forward towards it, thanks for all the efforts put into this
Still the best, most heart-wrenching song in Alien Stage. Hyuna’s was a fantastic song, such a wonderful, fun break from all the agony but gosh...The next one is gonna hurt so, so much with Till and Ivan facing each other. I don’t want either of them to die...

Something about the sky at 2:41, and the direction of the meteors as Till turns from Ivan. The contrast of the blazing comets (Till) in the black sky (Ivan) is beautiful. I love everything about this scene. The musicality, the composition of Till and Ivan, the colors used, the background. It just says so much about their dynamic with each other. Till running back for Mizi, and all Ivan can do is watch, as the scene behind him returns to the black sky that he's associated with. Even better, the build up to that, the color of the background was flipped. The dark sky behind Till, and the red meteors behind Ivan. It says so much, and I absolutely love it!!
Usally they say the iris expands when you're looking at someone you're attracted to or you're in love with and Ivan's does this when he looks at Til at 2:03. I think it was such a neat touch.

Ivan's backstory as I understand it is:
- he was owned by an abusive merchant (the alien who held him over the edge of the roof)
- you can see them auction him off when there's that blue square behind him (you can see the other kids next in line, as well as an alien holding a mic),
-he gets bought and pampered by a rich alien (we see rich alien at 2:12; the hand matches the hand that was on our boy at 1:12, he just doesn't look as big because he's next to other big aliens)
- he gets shown off to the rich alien's other rich friends (he's holding what looks like an award or maybe that's the invitation to join the singing camp/boarding school)
- he was put by rich alien in Anakt Garden, a singing boarding school (which seems to be a required prerequisite to joining the ALIEN STAGE contest. Can't join the contest otherwise)
-Till and Mizi accidentally run towards an exit(?)/forbidden area when they were chasing a flower crown that got blown by the wind--a guard dog alien beats Till up.
- he's amazed as Till FIGHTS BACK against the alien (compared to himself whose always been passive), and probably continued to be amazed by Till's continued rebellion beyond this point.
- inspired by Till, he later tries to escape and run away with him during a meteor shower as his first act of rebellion, but Till presumably doesn't wanna leave Mizi behind and goes back.
- our boy laughs bittersweetly and heads back as well since his inspiration + love + reason for trying to escape in the first place just went back.

I love how this video actually confirms a previous theory! During this song, Ivan allows another person to sing, meaning the whole time the songs are meant to be sung by sections by each person. This means the white hair dude (2nd video) took up all the song time. Whilst the 2 girls sung their song together as a duet to try and trick the system into getting the same score (and failed), which makes me wanna cry more :((

Coming back here after round 6 is just so devastating because with each line Black Sorrow seems more and more like Cure… literally each word perfectly captures Ivan’s unreciprocated love for Till… :( and the fact that Till actually wears BLACK in round 6 is like another punch in the gut… 😭

I absolutely LOVE 2:47 where it looks like Ivan accidentally let his actual emotions slip into his singing, and he immediately tries to compose himself. The sorrow in his face turning to frustration, then finally to his usual cool apathetic expression. That's sooo gorgeous

tbh i didnt expect myself to be this attached to ivan. When he was first introduced in the alien stage trailer i thought that he's the smooth and manipulative type of character. But looking at his round i somehow find him quite relatable. He might seems quite apathetic but he's actually just bottling up his feelings, his love and admiration for till, and his sorrow...
this exactly. this is also why i kinda hope he doesn't become smooth/manipulative during the stage with till the way some people are theorizing in the comments. i think it would be more heartbreaking and more accurate to what we can glean of him from this video to not want to battle till.
Yes, I also had the first impression that he was some sort of antagonist. But on the contrary, he seems to be the most talented and smart. His poker face is more of a survival skill than anything.

I like how Till's song ends with drums whereas Ivan's starts with them, as if one was meant to be a continuation of the other, like Till's rebellion could only naturally result in Ivan's yearning.
I think the power of this song comes from the bitter-sweet irony of their dynamic. At first, we see that Ivan, despite his situation, still longed for freedom, even if it meant the end of everything, symbolised by the shooting stars that may shine brightly and beautifully while they run through the dark sky, but are still fated to crash in the most destructive way. Yet, his will seemed to disappear slowly as time went by, he became numb, years of use and abuse turned him into a singing puppet traded and paraded by his masters. Until he crossed path with Till, who unapologetically kept his free spirit and fighting will despite the punishments and the risks for his very life (though we can easily guess that his only saving grace is his value as a singer). Ivan could only fall for him, the embodiment of his repressed desires, to the point of trying to save him and run away together. And we can see that both of them seem truly happy, maybe for the first time since a long time, while a rain of meteors crashes around them, the culmination of this freedom they were after, knowing that could cost them their life if they are found out before managing to leave. But then a realisation hits Till, most likely the fact that he can't stand leaving Mizi behind even if it means giving up his only chance of realising his dream of freedom. And Ivan, understanding that the person he saw as his symbol of hope not only loved someone else enough to stay in a place he hated, but also turned out to be a willing prisoner because of the very feelings that gave him the will to fight, can only smile bitterly yet longingly: it didn't change how he felt for Till, and he too found himself unable to run away without him. The tenderness and resignation of his gaze at this moment is such a masterpiece of artistry that every time I watch it my stomach is tied in knots and I have a lump in my throat 😭 In the end the shooting star rain he dreamt about all his life only resulted in a black sorrow for him,and the fact that he knows he will have to compete against Till in the next round makes everything even more heartbreaking
This one is definitely my favourite in the series so far. While "My Clematis" was the last love song of two lovers who wanted to share this final moment and "Unknown - 'til the end" was a declaration of both love and war no matter the consequences, Ivan's song is the pinnacle of everything that makes Alien Stage so fascinating, it's a tale of tragedy, of an unrequited love, an unattainable dream and a fate none of them can fight against. Yet they all give their best, to give a meaning to their performances, to take this chance to express the things they could never express before... I think I'm gonna cry lmao

its fascinating how all of them are just kind of... unaware of each other. like, in round one, we're only shown the girls and their friendship and how much they mean to one another. in Till's song, all of the memories he's focusing on to sing are about Mizi and i don't think we even see Ivan. which is weird considering Ivan literally broke them both out of whatever prison they were in and tried to *free* them both from captivity. and in Ivan's song, he sees Till and Mizi, but in the beginning, he didn't take an interest in Till until he saw him rebel. Ivan was more or less just going through the motions, resigned to his imprisonment. he only took notice of Mizi at all because Till liked her
it's just so interesting how it appears like they were all raised/imprisoned together but all of their stories hardly intertwine, only focusing on one other person at most despite the fact that there are so many other kids around them
If you take into account the fact that they most likely know from the begining that they will have to fight against each other in a competition where the losers will die, it's quite obvious they either weren't encouraged to form deep relationships or they ended up by themselves avoiding getting too close to people who could potentially become their opponent. That makes the only person they can't help gravitating towards (reciprocally or not) even more so special, I guess

the constant flickering from ivan witnessing till fight back and thinking back to the meteor shower, is honestly so nicely done. ivan's constant focus on the meteor shower symbolizes his yearning for freedom, and alike the desire for the meteors is his infatuation with till. unfortunately, even if he did escape, ivan would've had no means of surviving in that world as a kid against aliens, ultimately his yearning fot freedom is simply an unlikely dream just like how his desire for till is too - seeing till run back presumably because he couldn't leave mizi (pink hair girl) made him realize that. he yearns for till like he yearns for meteors/freedom, these are two things he knows he cannot have.

What I find interesting with this video is that we see more about the format of the Alien Stage competition. At 1:35, Ivan has to wait until his opponent is done singing for himself to start, so the competition is probably set so that each person gets their own spotlight singing before the voting is done. This is intresting because if this is the case, then both Mizi and Til technically broke the rules of the Alien Stage competition. Mizi singing at the same time as Sua (not taking separate turns), and Til not giving his opponent a chance to sing at all.
it confirms everyone's speculation from the last two videos! Mizi and Sua wanted to win together and break the system somehow, so they sang in duo. which is why Mizi was so shocked when Sua died; she wasnt expecting to be the sole winner. and Till didn't let his opponent sing, not just because Til sang the whole thing, but because he wasnt singing the song that they were supposed to sing, so his opponent didnt know how to join in
I was wondering why Til's song was only 2 minutes long. That was cause he literally only sang half his song before killing his opponent. That also explained why his opponent was surprised when he walked forward first, cause he was supposed to sing second but he's not allowing any chances from the beginning. I think the shooting stars show up as imagery to symbolize ivan realizing how beautiful and special life is/when he feels alive (when he nearly dies (0:34), when he sees Till for the first time fighting (1:53 - 2:03 ) vs when he's showed in adoration and rewards but feels nothing (1:11 - 1:15)) but when Till pulls away from him, we see shooting stars for what they really are. Burning hunks of rock that rain destruction down upon where they hit. And maybe that shift in visuals is meant to represent Ivan realizing the brutality of the life he's stuck in and feeling sorrow (when Till rejects him) compared to the apathy he usually feels for everything. And maybe the shooting stars represent him as a whole. From a distance, they are cool, otherworldly and beautiful, but in truth they are fire-ensconced destruction just like how Ivan looks so serene and alien from the outside but he's really burning up inside and for Till
EDIT: okay subtitles are on now so I have additions. I guess from the lyrics, Ivan sees himself as the inky darkness and Till as the shining light and that Till's brightness and liveliness further highlights how empty Ivan is, especially since Ivan cannot reach out to him (0:50-1:00). Ivan is aware that he and Till can never have a happy ending, that there is NO happy ending for this story. So alternative interpretation: the meteor showers represent Till to Ivan. Till is the shiny light in in the darkness of Ivan's existence. The more Ivan sees Till, the greater the emptiness of Ivan's life deepens in contrast.
Furthermore--going with the Till is the meteor shower theory--that's why there can be no happy ending, why there is only "a cold spot stained in blood", because while meteors are beautiful while they burn, they eventually burn out. Till cannot burn forever; he is fated to burn out into a cold husk. His life, his fight, is beautiful and shocking but ephemeral at best. The traits that Ivan loves Till for are the very same traits that will ensure their story's tragic ending. For at that Till makes Ivan feel alive, Ivan seems certain that he will be the only one alive at the end.
also just the fact that Ivan only seems to feel emotion when he faces death is something notable (0:50 over the edge, 1:53-2:01 witnessing the monster dog, 2:08 on the stage singing to live)

So far, we can tell that Ivan loves the stars, and I think that was made clear in the teaser I suppose. Ivan most prolly likes Till bc of Till's rebellious nature and his curious mind, and I think that's bc Ivan never really had that chance....he never had that chance to rebel due to the way he was treated by the aliens. In Ivan's video, we do learn more about the nature of the aliens and other "members." I think in the part where Ivan and Till run away, Till's infatuation with Mizi stopped him from running away, (I also believe that the meteor shower was supposed to be a distraction).
Naurrr, because it's gonna be even more painful to watch when Till and Ivan will have to compete later against each other in the series... 😭😭💔

I just realized here 1:04 u can see Ivan crying his expression almost as if he's given up on struggling but is also scared of dying at the same time. Then, later when he watches Till, u can see him referencing the stars (something so dazzling bring color into his life yet unattainable at the same time just like a shooting star). I cannot express how much i love the way vivinos represent feelings, it hits really different from a simple "I'm sad", ivan appreciating life and the world he lives in, then realizing how harsh and brutal it is, and that the stars he grew to love were nothing but burning meteors, how everything clicked when till rejected him, till knew how fucked up their world is, so he fights against it, and that made ivan admire him considering ivan never fought against it, he even was ok with dying as we saw, he was like a puppet that played nice, and although not necessarily showing appreciation for being showered with attention, but also didn't protest against it, this is truly a masterpiece as usual vivinos!
So from this, we can definitely say that the girls and Till rebelled. In the first video, the girls sang together to try and get the same score and live while Till stole the show. It seems like Ivan is more passive and he knows he's going to win, so he plays by the rules.

Black sorrow is a metaphor for love here. Before he met the Til he never really had any hope or desires. But after seeing Til have so much passion and fight against the system he started to see him as a human embodiment of the shooting stars shown at the start showing that Till had reinspired hope and desire in him. It was at that point he also started to feel "love" which wasn't positive for him since it was unrequited hence why it's referred to as Black sorrow.
This whole performance is his way of trying to dismiss Til and say that to him he represents nothing but sadness even though Til is the only thing that has literally made his eyes twinkle lol.
I feel like their singing battle will most likely be him forcing Til to notice him as despite pretending Til is just sadness to him, he's still obviously obsessed with him. Til will be trying to get pink haired girls attention so I really see both of them dying or neither of them winning as they both have unrequited love.

Okay whoa, it's finally here!
I'm sure other people dissected the video better than me. Still, I would like to mention the overwhelming emotions in Ivan from 2:45 -2:51 . That was SO gorgeous and really proved that Ivan has the control to switch back to apathy, regardless of the circumstance. This makes me a bit worried, though, because his eventual battle against Till could very likely end up with him dying for Till because of his strong emotions towards Till and his seemingly smooth "switch" from emotional to apathetic. Not to mention, he has even more incentive to die in regards to rebellion against the expectations of his supposed abusive "owner." And not to further mention, It's even more heartbreaking when you realize that Ivan has such a deep, unrequited love for Till, conveyed PERFECTLY by the bittersweet/bitter tone. The interpersonal relationships between the characters make me scared for the ending at this point, I just KNOW that I'm gonna cry lol.

I don't know if anyone said anything about the singer or not but the way Park Byeong Hoon sang the song is just marvelous. He portraited the emotions of Ivan so beautifully in his voice. And the pause in 2:33 was done so perfectly. When he was singing " And you, you are always for me Black sorrow ". It was heart touching. Love the song absolutely and the singer did an admirable job at singing the song with so much emotion.
I am entranced by Ivan's reaction when Til turns and runs back to the city after Ivan breaks him out. There's sadness, but he smiles as he watches Til run back. Like he understands Til can't run away, perhaps even understanding that he's not who Till truly wants to be with. And seeing that demonstrated in front of him makes him happy, because it's who Til truly is.
Ivan can't run away with Til and be together because because of who Til is. Yet if Til could run away with him, he wouldn't be the person Ivan fell in love with.
What a perfect little tragedy Ivan is trapped in.

Omg this was so beautiful. A bit weird that it dosen't have captions like the two other videos but still even without understanding whats being sung I could feel the emotion just like dripping off every frame in this animation. Tho something I noticed this video had much less animation and more still yet moving images compared to the 2 other videos which I feel like is such a good contrast since the previous video it was just so full of animation motion and so fast paced and this is such an opposite to that. Also I can't wait to see what the new character's story is gonna be

I'm mesmerised by how a 4 min video can tell more of story than most of shows nowadays, that scene of till chasing after a pink flowercrown, the same one tht we see in previous video sua giving to mizi, and then till clenching into it all beaten up, its so hurtful and clear, he chose to go run back to a dark scary no future path ignoring Ivan who was facing towards a forest, its so beautiful, and foreshadowed the next scene where he turned back again, I can't emphasise how hyped I am for this and how much I was looking forward towards it, thanks for all the efforts put into this
Still the best, most heart-wrenching song in Alien Stage. Hyuna’s was a fantastic song, such a wonderful, fun break from all the agony but gosh...The next one is gonna hurt so, so much with Till and Ivan facing each other. I don’t want either of them to die...

Something about the sky at 2:41, and the direction of the meteors as Till turns from Ivan. The contrast of the blazing comets (Till) in the black sky (Ivan) is beautiful. I love everything about this scene. The musicality, the composition of Till and Ivan, the colors used, the background. It just says so much about their dynamic with each other. Till running back for Mizi, and all Ivan can do is watch, as the scene behind him returns to the black sky that he's associated with. Even better, the build up to that, the color of the background was flipped. The dark sky behind Till, and the red meteors behind Ivan. It says so much, and I absolutely love it!!
