Yes, dignities in vargas can show how a planet works OVERALL. It can be interpreted that it helps in the Rashi, but really, the vargas are not separate from the Rashi. They are more specific harmonics of that rashi. Consider Vimshopak strength. If that is high, then it is said that the planet works well, that's because you are then seeing ALL the facets of the planets power.
do benefic and malefic characteristics apply here? for example, Jupiter being in its enemy sign with its ruler 7th from it would make it a great enemy. but does it being a benefic planet have an impact on that?

Hi Ryan How to analyze an exchange of house/lords/signs especially exchange of malefic houses 8th and 12th. Eg Sun as 8th lord in Saggitarius and Jupiter as 12th lord in 8th house of Leo. Here jupiter also has a trinal aspect on 12th house(its own sign)

For example: Jupiter in Cap. in the 2nd (DB) is 11 away from 12th House Saturn, creating Temporary friend. Jupiter and Saturn are natural neutral so this would create a Friend, but I see DB in dignities because of the Jupiters placement in Cap. Do I have this right?
