I just ordered a needler or handheld cuber and I made the most tender 😮😮fried cube steak I’ve ever made!Normally I cook them in gravy an hour in the stove..but I did these on the stove top for like 5 minutes and omg❤
My mama cooked round steak the same way, but she simmered it for hours. It's too tough to chew if you don't. She put onions and sometimes mushrooms in it too.
My mom bought a huge round steak...browned on both sides....cooked in iron skillet...seasoned with salt and pepper only...removed steak added water and corn starch, mixed cooked in oven until tender... delicious
Have you tried a chuck steak form Publix in Brunswick or from Harris Teeter on St. Simon's, GA? Willing to try this recipe, but don't have time for the tenderizing ritual. Thanks, Tammy!
Little confused. You read the package of meat as "eye of round". That IS the tender part of a round steak and it ain't cheap unless marked down. My mom used to buy cut half inch to 3 quarters in thick, put tenderizer on them bout 15 min. wrap a strip of bacon around it and cook on grill. Mock Filet Mignon.🤣 It was great. I knew this would be tender after all you did to it...and delish👍
My family likes to go in flour (with some cornstarch in flour as well) first then egg mixture, and flour again which in terms makes the egg mixture stick better. The breading will be a very crunchy texture, even after adding the gravy and simmering for awhile. But as you would say, "WHATEVER" 😉😄
I love your personality and sense of humor... it's fun to hear your giggly laugh!! Food is great too!! Fun to make!! It's nice to see you and Mr. Chris working together. ♡ D
Miss Tammy if you get a cooking show you will be success no doubt but I hope you will not change your style to much you are such a real person what we see is what you are enjoy you!
I’m a man and I get home before my wife..... you’re recipes and cooking is amazing. I live in Pensacola and we love southern foods. Thank you for these videos 🤝🤝🤝🤝🤝
I am starving for this. That looks really, really good. Thank you. Love watching you cook. You cook just like my Momma, who was a professional chef for almost 40 years. She learned from her Momma and Aunt I learned from her and my aunt. Southern ladies passing on love. Keep the tradition going. God Bless
@@lt.generalofsalt4273 --- Well, I'm from the South, lived here all my life. I buy cubed steak, which is nothing but round steak like she's using, and certainly don't let it rest in the refrigerator before cooking. Lots of unnecessary steps. I'm guessing Engles/Ingles is a regional store/chain but they would have tenderized those cuts and not have to wait days for it to rest in the 'frig.
In Tx cubed steak is breaded & known as chicken fried steak & when I was a child & all the elderly women made this recipe with round steak, it was fried steak & gravy... as an adult when I visited southern Va in the rural areas this recipe was called country fried steak...I am 75 now & things do change...when you pounded meat it was known as tenderizing & you only bought cubed steak from the store ...it has a diff texture & appearance...my Great Aunt used the edge of a heavy saucer to tenderize the steak
"Doctoring it up a little bit." Just like my Mana and em would say. You made my day! I also just watched your chuck roast video and loved it. I'm gonna try to make it Sunday. Thank you so much for doing these videos.!
I know Im randomly asking but does anybody know of a tool to get back into an Instagram account..? I was dumb lost my login password. I love any assistance you can give me.
@Austin Quinton i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and I'm in the hacking process now. I see it takes quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
If you fixed the plate for him why did you start eating it? LOL 😂 And disregard what I said before please!! I enjoy your videos!! Where were you born and raised? I’m in Virginia born and raised!!!
Love watching your videos ! You cook similar to how I learned to cook growing up . My Granny was from Arkansas so i was taught by my granny and my momma to put love in my cookin . Thanks for taking time out of your daily life to share your recipes with us all ! God bless 💗
Tammy, my momma used her iron skillets all the time. Being young, those were too heavy for me, and now that I'm older they're too heavy for me. 😄 no...really they are heavy. Are your skillets light weight?
I love this girl she is so darling. She's just a hug there in how's outfit cooking away some good old food. I let her know she's so cute thank you for putting this on UA-cam.
When I do this we fry the meat like your doing, put in a crock pot pour 1 or 2 cans of mushroom soup, this is your gravy, make mash potatoes and green beans. we do this on Sunday sometimes then it's ready by the we get home from Church. oh I do the potatoes and beans when I get home.
Here it is almost midnight & I'm ready to head to the kitchen and fire up the stove! This just looks so yummy! I'll have to give this a try for my crew. I know they'll love it because they've devoured every recipe from your cookbooks that we've tried! All I have to say is, "We're trying one of Ms Tammy's recipes" and they come runnin'! They've declared each one of your recipes "a fav" and "a keeper" and hope you'll publish a 3rd recipe book! Thanks for another video, y'all!👍😊
Tammy, this video reminds me of my Mom’s Chicken Fried Round Steak simmered in Milk Gravy in her electric skillet. She made it before Sunday worship & simmered it low & slow. It was delicious. She also fried chicken &simmered it in Mushroom gravy made from a can of Campbell’s Condensed Mushroom Soup in her electric skillet. When we got home from church services she would turn on the skillet to warm it up. It too, was delicious. She was a great cook.
Just a cast iron skillet and aluminum foil braises meat great. That’s from years ago . Dutch oven chicken fryer what ever you have . It’s not the pots and pan that makes it good it’s the cook .
Brenda Hunt, I love fried chicken livers. Believe it or not, you cannot find chicken livers anywhere up here in Oregon. They have gizzards, but not livers. I like gizzards too, but they are just so chewy lol They just started carrying black eyed peas a few years ago. It can be hard for a Southern girl! lol
Hey Tammy! My knee replacement is doing well and I felt like cooking today. I made cube steak, rice and gravy, English peas, and sliced peaches. I thought of you! It was really good but I was really tired when I finished. BTW, I picked up a pack of Springer Farms chicken breast on sale at Ingles. I have it in the crock pot. Going to make Granny Todd’s chicken salad in the morning!
Hey Tammy. You are Chris are a hoot together! I’m making your air fryer fried chicken for supper tonight!!! I can’t wait 😊. Maybe you will teach me how to cook more than sausage in my air fryer!
I worked in a meat market the cube steak is what ever roast is on sale they take some of the meat and cube it together you might have chuck bottom round rib eye shoulder . I use to cube the steak . That’s why cube steak tare apart easy.
Your so funny I'm still laughing. My sis told me to always look up when doing pictures or selfies so you can't see fat on neck or chin and makes you look smaller and thinner. 😃😃😃😀😀😀
I have been married nearly 47 yrs.And I do love to watch you but why do you cut your husband off so sharply.Sounds so disrespectful when he's just being helpful. And believe me the only thing my husband ever did in the kitchen was remove the turkey grom the oven.Your a lovely couple .
I enjoyed watching how you prepared and cooked that meat. As long as I have been cooking I still love to see how other women prepare food. You cooked it on a Monday? Did you tenderizer and season it on a Friday?
There's actually a meat tenderizer powder you can use on meat? Who knew? My mom used an old Coke bottle to beat her steaks. Can you show and tell the items and brands you use? I know you're pretty good about doing that but this older woman needs a little more time to see things. Thanks so much for good comfort food recipes. 💕 ❤ 🤗

So which is it? Chuck, round or cube??
My mama cooked round steak the same way, but she simmered it for hours. It's too tough to chew if you don't. She put onions and sometimes mushrooms in it too.
Thank you very for the round chuck roast I used it today Christmas 12/25/2021
I grew up eating this with cubed beef and pork steaks, the secret is to let it simmer on low, tenderizing, adding mushrooms to the gravy, YUMMY
My mom bought a huge round steak...browned on both sides....cooked in iron skillet...seasoned with salt and pepper only...removed steak added water and corn starch, mixed cooked in oven until tender... delicious

I have never tried

Not yet

That is why I do this thank you!
I add a touch of Dales to green beans and beef stew. Also use it to make mushroom gravy.
why not ask butcher to cube it??
There is a satisfaction you get out of tenderizing it with that hammer - it’s fun!
You could do that!
Savannah Meredith well that’s just not how folks from the south do things..... we are our own butcher.... atleast on my family’s farm we are.

Check www.collardvalleycooks.com
Yes, pick it up with your fingers that’s the best tools a lot of time!

I just started watching your channel a couple of days ago, and the more I watch the more I think our mamas cooked a lot alike.
Welcome to CVC Tonya!
@@CollardValleyCooks thank you!
Round steak is so good , with gravy baby.😋
Not contradicting you said it's chuck steak you said at first gets round steak
Do you put the sheet pan behind the sink to keep the wall dry?
That and it stores well there!
I always wondered about that
Yummm. I could almost taste it through the video...
💕💕🤗love u Tammy!
Love your Cooking so awesome thanks
You are such a treat to see thanks
How do you clean your cutting boards??
Soap and sometimes bleach.
@@CollardValleyCooks Mama used diluted vinegar. You bring back my best memories of cooking with my Okie Mama! Thank you so much!
Bonami will clean that glass lid...

Always good to hear!
That would be good with some mushrooms added to the gravy... Boosts the protein content of the whole meal, too!🍄
We love mushrooms!

You need to be on the cooking channel...so they rest of the country can taste delicious true southern cooking
Where are the biscuits Tammy?
Those were round steak not chuck steaks. Chuck steaks have a lot more fat on them.
Tammy I luv u and your southern style of cooking just like my moms God bless u and your family that’s for cooking like our moma did and some dads.
Your air fryer fried chicken was great!!!!! Thank you
So glad you liked it!
Look like chicken fried steak to me. Pretty much how my mom would make it to! Thanks for sharing!

where on earth can I find utensils with wooden handles??
Why don't they like it. Your cooking it they aren't going to eat it. I use it to
Love that pan.. it's nice and deep, non-stick and has those great handles
