this song is so powerful to me. the first time i heard it on the radio, my abusive father lashed out at me for liking it. he hated me for not believing his manipulation, so the line “i’m not scared of you” made him upset for some reason. i remember how scared i felt. not your fault obviously. now, i’m okay. now i can sing this song with power that i’m not afraid of him anymore. i’m away from him. and though i haven’t gotten proper justice yet, i’ve stood up to him. i no longer associate with my father anymore. thank you so much ajr. not only this song, but everything you’ve done helped me and continues to help me through dark points in my life. thank you. you truly saved me.
