I believe Trail building is an amazing experience and something we should be enjoying and sharing as a community capacity rather than exclusively relying on contracting it out to often inexperienced and non-vested stakeholders. This is the current conversation and consideration is the resistance of some organizations like the land trust or in this case the city to support our very capable community Trail building organization that designed and built this tribute suspension bridge Trail. In this case, our Trail building organization, forest trails alliance has both requested involvement in this community project because of its significant iconic potential, but we also offered to design and build this trail for free. For two years, the bear Yuba land trust has denied any involvement by our artist, creators, and Trail lovers and now finally throwing their hands up and contracting the project out. The awarded hundred thousand dollars for less than 1 mile of dirt Trail is a great example of wasted resources that not only could have supported critical tools equipment for future efforts, but acknowledged and included amazing citizens who love our community. Our bid to facilitate the repair and completion of this marginal effort was rejected on a technicality even though we were $90,000 cheaper than the next cheapest bid. I am requesting community support to help develop Yuba trails stewardship as a community regional organization to oversee our Trail vision and help facilitate critical conversations and the transparency and accountability that is needed
