All of Chopin's compositions are very special and unique. But this one in particular has something very hypnotic, dark, liberating and beautiful that i cannot explain.
I agree but the beautiful dark quality that you're hearing: it's got alot to do with the key that this is played in. When the piece is played in another brighter sounding major key for example, it sounds almost like a warm bouncy spring day!
Does anyone else absolutely LOVE the part of the melody here 0:26? It makes me feel so inspired. It's unfortunate Chopin didn't expand on this part of the melody but I think that was on purpose. In my opinion this piece is meant to feel lonely and make you feel like you're falling into a kind of sadness along with Chopin, as if he is telling you a sad story but instead of you just hearing the story, you're encapsulated in it and drawn to the emotions that come with.
I've always considered the Nocturne pieces as that, yeah - very sad and melancholic, with small bursts of happiness in them to make them that much more missed when they are lost. An internal struggle between happiness and joy, against sadness and despair. Or finding the bits of happiness in a dark and cold world. It's a rollercoaster ride for sure lol
@@firstnameIastname I completely agree. It goes back to that saying, “You don’t know what you have until it’s gone.” And Chopin is a master at making you feel that way. However, I still really do love that section!
My favorite part of this piece has always been from 4:19 to the end. It's like the light at the end of the tunnel only to realize you're winding up back in the tunnel again. The light part is so beautiful and then slowly but surely it seamlessly transitions back into that ominous vibe again. I have a hard time understanding how a human mind can put something together so brilliantly.
I love that part too, because it reminded me of the calm periods in storms or battles, when you’re picking up the fallen pieces and trying to go on as normal, but then the winds start back up again and the cannons start firing once more. Sort of like the eye of a hurricane being quiet and peaceful, if you get my drift.

This brought me to tears. The good kind. The interpretation and speed are masterful, and I think this slightly slower pace compared to other interpretations heightens the emotionality, and adds space where it was lacking. The composition by Chopin has a meditative, almost sacrosanct holiness to it not unlike Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata, though the Sonata takes me skyward more towards an outer kind of space, whereas this Nocturne takes me inward, more towards inner space. Both are good, both are necessary.
Thanks for this. This nocturne is insanely fun to play. I’ve got it so close. Gonna go through this tutorial to memorize when it’s quiet and when to get loud, which you absolutely nailed in this performance. It’s really hard to play the left hand of the middle section quietly.

I love this nocturne! And I love your interpretation, to me it tells a story and you played it just as I imagine it!💕
Kassia - your interpretations for all pieces that you've performed on your UA-cam channel have been amazing, soulful, and pleasantly spontaneous. There is not one video where I did not feel inspired, and this Chopin video was nothing short of beauty. As someone who's learned and played this piece almost everyday when practicing, I appreciate your in-depth exploration of this piece and why this particular Nocturne is one of my most favorite pieces and personal Thank you for continuing to share music with us all. I remember writing something about audio before in another one of your videos. Please keep up the great work on this aspect as it really complements your music-making side well with your keyboard. Looking forward to more!
I keep coming back to this performance and observe the mastery in its phrasing and dynamics. There is so very much to learn here.
It’s so outrageously beautiful that I don’t have any other words to describe it!!
This one has such a soaring quality. I love it.
So effortless. I like that I can see the hands too. If I could learn music like this when I was a kid I think I would have stuck with it. But now 20 years later I am relearning to play. I Just want to play for my moma again. I think it made her happy way back when, and thanks for your vids I will play for her ones more.
I love how you played it. It gave me goose bumps at some moments!
I know Nocturne Op.9 No.2 is more famous than this (based on my observations) but ahhh this is also beautiful. Can't even explain how beautiful this masterpiece is.
The rhythm is actually insane
My fav Chopin Nocturne!! Extraordinary performance Kassia, love it!!
I have just started learning the piano at 40. Can't wait to get to Chopin!
Hell yeah
My heart❤ melted. 😌. Feel so relaxed. Chopin was a great pianist. Never going to forget him... Your hands are so sweet. I loved the way you played... I feel so relexed I was so in stress. Now I m cool after listening this . Thank you🌹❤🙏
Have a lovely life. God bless you. Thank you so much.
0:23 I love this part
the best part
Best part is the beginning
@@qrator6882 Yeah, I love the beginning. It's haunting, like a place with no more hope. Some people play it faster, but I like it slower, as it loses that haunting vibe if it's played faster
Who doesn't? This is the pinnacle of music
Ikr.
This part of this music was played in Endeavour(Crimes of Oxford),the little girl played it in a "haunted" mansion, doors shut, lights went out,and the girl was murdered.
Since that I like this song.
Wow, I love this version! Rubato, tempo, everything works so well here
I love this piece, I discovered Chopin with this piece and started playing piano for it. I love your piano interpretations, too, they're played really well: I listen to you when I've to study. Sorry for my lousy English but I'm from Italy, and in my country English teaching is really really messed up to say the least. Keep it Up!
this piece sounds like a spirit is gently whispering into your ears. Beautiful!
I loved the slowed down interpretation. I was teaching myself this song awhile back but lost patience with learning the timing on those early runs.
Beautiful piece of music by Chopin. Classical music just hits different
That’s a amazing interpretation!! So beautiful to watch and hear!!! I absolutely love it!!! You deserve way MOOOOOOOORE subscribe!!!
The polyrhythms in this piece make me flinch but then i regret because this is the best version of this piece out there
My daughter just struggled the 3,4,5 bars in past 2 weeks and survived . . Believe she will get it done soon
If Chopin would have been alive for just a little longer what kind of music could have been added to this beautiful genre
Thanks for this. This nocturne is insanely fun to play. I’ve got it so close. Gonna go through this tutorial to memorize when it’s quiet and when to get loud, which you absolutely nailed in this performance. It’s really hard to play the left hand of the middle section quietly.
Loved everything this video has going for it. Including the fingerings with the pink lines.
Magical. So sad and relaxed. It is so basic, but you make it better than all this playing! Gretings from germany!
Thank you, Jano! I confirmed this comment now.:)💕
the right hand octaves section is so beatiful... i really love the op 9
Your piano has lights that illuminate the keys and your hands? Beautiful music and to watch.
I just finished this beauty of piece pretty easy but beautiful thanks to you for giving me a type tutorial to know to play it in emotions thanks Kassia.
Incredibly well done. I love your interpretation of this piece.
I’d need two brains, one for each hand, to play this. Glad people like you exist!
We need musicians like you.
Beautiful my friends, beautiful
I have found that your interpretation is by far the best I have ever heard... Honest to god most pianists play this way too fast... Slow is best for this one, incredible job!
I love this speed too. I'm working on trying to get my expression closer to this
you are beautiful the way you play is just so meaningful, you put so much of yourself and even you don’t realize it every note you play feels and means something
Que música mais linda. E pensar que a maioria da população não tem a sensibilidade para gostar deste tipo de música.
It is the most sophisticated composition that I have ever heard. Oh, how I adore that magic of sound, all those feelings that thing causes! If I wanted to describe love with sounds I would use that!😢😢😢
Das ist so wunder wunder schön. Das berührt mich. Vielen Dank.
I was looking for Chopin Nocturne Op9 no2 and 'accidentally' click this, the no.1, best accident Ive made! Wow I never heard this 😨 so beautiful 😭😢💞 , I'm gonna learn it✍
I'm going to learn how to play this piece! Gods, the key signature must be a nightmare-but you expressed the piece so beautifully! You got another sub, Kassia :)
Yoo how’s it going? The key signature isn’t that hard, but if you’ve already started then you should be fine
@@gracie7534 wow never expected a reply 😮but thanks for asking! it’s going quite well, i’ve finished the first section and i’m practicing the second one right now. it’s not too bad, but i do also have to focus on the abrsm theory exam sooooo i don’t have too much time for this piece anymore :(
@@strawberrymilk9302 Aw, I hope you finish the piece and have fun playing it!
Hello, I would like start to learning it and i have a question for you?
Do the arpeggios with the left hand repeat themself a little, for example every 8 bars (only for example) or they change with no arithmetic logic?
Thank you
How's it going? I started learning it two days ago , btw :)
I think this nocturne is more beautiful than the other more famous one, in E major. I have so much desire to learn the rest, because I can only play this beginning, lol. My dream is to play the whole thing on a sleepless night. Play as beautifully as you, cause I just love piano🎹💜✨💜✨
I learned this piece in memory of one of my crush, this is one of my principal and favorite pieces, the one I play very well every time I play it, and that calms people listening around me.
This is the first piece I played entirely, correctly, and emotionally.
Very good interpretation girl ^^
(hit me if you're a boy btw)
I'm learning it in memory of my crush :'(
wtf
How the hell is this your first serious piece that you played entirely? There's this mad polyrhythm at the beginning (maybe it's just me who struggling with polyrhythms, but that's unlikely because you literally need to practiy the skill of entirely separating your hands)
@@MatanVngsh agreed.. Then again, we don't know, maybe this person practiced so much that they were able to pull this off? (although I doubt it)

Fantastic music, I could listen to it all night, thank you.
I envy your skillssss. Love the interpretation btw👍
I liked it from the first second of sound. It was awesome! Thanks for this! I love it! I've heard it before in a movie soundtrack. It's deep and wonderful! ❤
This is exactly how Chopin would've wanted it to be played. Beautiful!
