How to spend $12 in electricity to dehydrate a can of $2 fruit. EDIT: It’s been a year and I have followed them along a wonderful journey. I wasn’t aware at the time what would be accomplished. I thought it was a food preserving, lifestyle/hiking channel. I was wrong and I’m glad I stayed along for the ride. It’s been an amazing year! 🔥
Not really. As they explain, they typically use a dehydrator, which draws even less energy than an oven on low heat, which would only use $2 max overnight.
Bananas and pineapples are my favorite dehydrated!! Yummm. Dehydrated sweet potato chips are amazing too! Or fruit leather with some nuts in it for carbs and protein. We always bring a little tin of pemican with spices in it on the trail to cook with too if we need a little extra energy and flavor. Love the videos!
there are soap sheets (small sheets of soap paper) u can order online for your hikes. they take up very little toom and u can tear them to control portion and stay dry.
I’m headed to the camino de Santiago in September and I think I’m going to take these tips to heart! It’s a fairly easy hike since we don’t have to carry all of our gear with us (since we will stay in hostels and eat in the small towns along the way) but I wanted to have some good healthy snacks for the in between!
I wish I had known about this years ago! My late husband loved dried bananas...and I could have been making it for him all along ..without the "fake, weird after taste* some types sometimes
Do you guys do plant based meals? I haven’t seen any meat in your meals(or maybe I missed it! Loving you content thank you for making! I am now aware this is something I want to and will be doing this life ! ❤️🙏
Sometimes things seem ideal and a good hack, but in reality you could use that energy, money, effort, motivation, and time for other things. Helping others, feeding the hungry, doing things for others and doing it without showcasing it is a good way to heal the emptiness the world has filled us with. I have many problems, and I'm working on becoming who God wants me to be, I have a long and winding road before me, but it's what is most important, for all of us to take that journey and try our best to be as good as possible.

Dehydrated peaches, apricots and oranges make a delish snack for the outdoors too. You can also soqk your fruits in either salt or suger syrup depending on thier uses or medicinal needs. Salting works good with frech apricot and peach.

Don’t do that with a gas oven. Your family won’t wake up in the morning.
If you don't light the gas..
Hahahah
Gas ovens continually omit toxins even if off. its recommended people get rid of them.

Yeah just casually mentions they went for a walk last summer from MEXICO TO FREAKING CANADA! No biggy.
For me that means nothing. I'm more surprised that they could do that in a country with absolutely no vacation days????

8 hrs ? 😐my electricity bill would be to the roof
That's exactly my thought as well.
@@TravMan92 and mine
Then you definitely wouldn't want to do the pineapples.
Imagine the people with gas ovens rn
In winter I do this for that reason and leave the heat off.. In summer I would never!
8-16 hours ? That's a large gas/electric bill !! 😳
I don't recommend trying that with a gas stove
We used to do that when I was a kid and we were too poor for heating lol.
Yea but they'll be out the house for months after this so it can't be too bad in the long run lol
It's really not, at that setting.
It would cost about a dollar im amazed at the intelligence in these comments
I’m stuck at “our walk from Mexico to Canada”
They’ve done this twice before too!
Yep, it's the Pacific Crest Trail and is well known and well traveled!
Everyone: casually talking about how casual they said “From Mexico to Canada”
Me: Did they just pull that out of the oven with their hands?!
I think they let it cool first
The temperature is so low that it wouldn't need to cool much.
I'm sorry, did you say WALK FROM MEXICO TO CANADA?! WTF! THATS INSANE!🤯🤯🤯🤯
Mexico Missouri to canada trail
and they did it twice
It's called the migrant trail
First timer eh?
It’s so weird to see them in an actual house and not outdoors 😂

Dehydrated mango and pineapple are divine!

Love how you specify a wooden spoon. I’ve always loved putting flammable materials near ultra hot temperatures myself too 🥰🥰
Plastic Melts is what they mean by that also don’t let the liquidized flammable material (plastic ) near the supper hot temperatures
I think the wooden spoon is safe at 60°C.
I love how they are always smiling, makes me want to smile too! ☺️
You two are always so happy. Makes me smile that we’re all able to watch your journey! And we get to learn some tips along the way..
It costs more to have the oven on for 17 hours than buying dried out fruit in the grocery store
Thank you forsharing the oven tip.
I really really want to go for the hike you guys did when I get older!!!
